Baby Capybaras!? Staying at Japan’s Capybara Resort Hotel! | Izu Animal Villa

Staying at Japan’s capybara resort hotel! Super cute baby capybaras! And I’ll be enjoying some amazing hot springs and meals. Hope you enjoy this special hotel. Hello! I’m at Yokohama Station. Today, my Izu trip starts with the Limited Express Odoriko!
(4,761yen/$30/€26) My destination this time is Izu Animal Villa. Surprisingly, it’s a resort hotel where you can stay with capybaras! It felt like the Odoriko was gliding over the ocean. It was amazing. Arrived at Izu-Inatori Station! If you make a reservation, the hotel provides a free shuttle! Heading to the hotel while enjoying the beautiful view of Izu. Check-in starts at 3 p.m.! My stay with meals included cost 57,000 yen. Kinda expensive😂
($363.65/€315.65) For reference, it’s 60,000 yen ($385/€332) for 2 people and 84,000 yen ($539/€464) for 3 people. It’s cheaper the more people you have! (Up to 6 guests) This was mid-November and the autumn leaves were beautiful🍁 Izu Animal Villa has 2 villas, each with 3 rooms. This is F Villa, where I’m staying! My room is F2 in the center. I’m expecting something luxurious. Wow! Super fancy. And beyond this giant panoramic window… Capybara! So cute! (Welcome) There are so many in the back too! Is this paradise? The capybaras are living so freely. Too wholesome. And not only that— There’s a baby too! You can watch the capybara hut right from your room. Before the room tour, I want to meet the capybaras! The large grounds are designed for them to feel comfortable. There’s a watering area in the center.
Since it’s winter, the water level is low. They’re all so friendly. And she’s the baby I saw earlier! Her name is Okayu. Nice to meet you, Okayu. Okayu was born in October 2025—only one month old! They say she was scared of people right after she was born. But by watching the adult capybaras, she gradually learned that people are kind. Now she even opens up to me, someone she just met😂 Take my premium massage. (I can’t take it anymore) I managed to make Okayu flop over. (No, I need to stay on guard) (Wait… this feels too good) She looks kinda like a frog🐸 Thanks, Okayu. There’s plenty of grass in the area on the right! They can eat as much as they want! Huh? There were four babies here! So cute… I didn’t see any info about this, so I was surprised! A perfect little armrest. They look about one or two weeks old. Since they were sleepy, they let me pet them. Cute, cute, cute. They’re still living on their mother’s milk. Baby capybaras nurse 4 to 8 times a day. They drink milk until they’re around 3 to 4 months old. (Mom, wait for me) Capybaras become independent at around 5 months old. Until then, their mom is busy raising them. Baby capybaras can walk shortly after they’re born. To stay safe, they always stay close to their family. They already look like little capybaras—so adorable. If I get too close while they’re awake, they run away, so I’m filming from far away. (Being with Mom makes me feel safe…) The rooms at Animal Villa are lined up side by side. Today I got lucky—there were no other guests, so I had the whole place to myself! All 3 rooms have their own capybara space. But apparently the capybaras prefer the rooms on both ends over the one in the middle. Once I went inside, they wouldn’t let me leave😂 Sorry. There’s a huge line over here too. The perk of the rooms on the ends is this cute round window! The perk of the center room is that it has the biggest panoramic window! Pretty different, right? Each room has its own charm! (It’s up to you) In my room, more capybaras came during the day than at night. In winter, you can turn on a heater in this space, so they might come even more. Let’s give them some treats now! Each room comes with 2 sets of carrots. You catch on quickly, huh? Come here, come here. I’ve got carrots for you🥕 I was surrounded by capybaras in an instant. As a carrot person, I became super popular. This scene is so picturesque. Okayu, here you go! But the adults find out immediately. Let’s run somewhere out of sight! We should be safe here. Oh my god. Their dedication to food is incredible. Whoa… he just climbs on me like it’s nothing. S-so heavy… And my vital area is in danger. But at the same time, I was really happy. Because it felt like we became closer. I tried giving them treats by the water area too. (Delicious!) Oh! Wow! I didn’t know you could climb that. Now this is what you call a capybara hotel! Nice. As I mentioned earlier, Animal Villa has two villas. Next to the F Villa where I stayed, there is the E Villa. E Villa has a river and looks beautiful. I heard the capybaras sometimes switch between the villas. E Villa is older and has been open since September 2023. F Villa just opened in August 2025! It became so popular that they decided to expand! That’s great news for both the capybaras and their fans! Then the babies came to the watering area! But it seems like they’re still scared of the water. They say capybaras start swimming confidently at around three months old. You two can do it! (I’ll try my best!) Because their bodies are so small, the babies’ legs look long! They look even more stylish than the adults🤭 (I’m pretty stylish too, you know) Thanks for all your hard work raising them. The babies still weren’t interested in carrots. Sadly, the babies were a little scared of me. (Mom, is it okay to follow that person?😰) Sorry, I don’t have any more carrots… See you later. That was fun! Now let’s do a room tour! This room can accommodate up to 6 people.
(The rooms on both sides can host up to 5) On the first floor, there are 2 lovely beds. And apparently there’s a bedroom on the second floor too! Oh! On the second floor, there are 4 beds, and the open ceiling makes the space stylish. The kitchen is also clean, with a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. And what’s in the room next to it? A super spacious washroom!😂 And very stylish. There’s only a shower room in the guest room, but the hotel has a hot spring♨︎ The toilet is fully automatic and looks cool. You also get capybara-designed water bottles and goods—exclusive for guests. Cute. I really like this room. And above all, the capybara room behind the glass! It truly felt like I was staying together with them. (Why don’t you stay with us?) Let’s go to the hot spring and dinner! You need to bring towels from your room. Heading to the building where I checked in earlier.
(About a 1-minute walk from the villa) First, the hot spring on the first floor. A beautiful hot spring with soft natural light. All the tiredness from the day washed away. Next, the restaurant on the second floor. Dinner is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
I chose 6 p.m. This place is huge too! The restaurant is large because there are multiple villas besides Animal Villa. Dinner is a full-course meal. Mini barbecue. Smoked salmon and Ham-wrapped vegetable rolls. Fried horse mackerel with sweet vinegar sauce. Beef stew pie. Crumbling the pie crust into the dish. Looks delicious! It’s so delicious! The pie and beef stew go perfectly together. The dishes keep coming out one after another! That’s everything! The meat should be ready soon. Time to dip it in the secret sauce!🤤 Ahh, this is so good. The ham rolls and the fried horse mackerel were refreshing and tasty too! This sound makes everything taste even better. For the fried shrimp, I used both sauce and tartar. This is delicious too! There are so many main dishes—it’s a challenge😂 I’m the type who eats the tail too. There was so much food that the ladies next to me couldn’t finish theirs. Even as a guy, I was completely full. Pure happiness. Drinks are self-serve. They had juice, coffee, and more. Still obsessed with melon soda, just like in the cat cafe video. 👩‍🍳: Konnyaku mochi (chewy Japanese dessert), Italian pudding, and orange slices. Looks great. Thank you. Dessert always goes to a separate stomach. Even Japanese people might not be familiar with konnyaku mochi. There’s nothing inside, but it was sweet and super chewy. I could eat 50 of these. The Italian pudding was firm—just the way I like it. Everything was absolutely delicious! Thank you for the meal. After that, I bought 3 more carrots. You can only buy up to 3 to prevent overfeeding. The reception had lots of cute goods. For some reason, this capybara keychain is only popular in March and April. Maybe they were all miraculously born in March or April😂 Okayu was already turned into merchandise too. Cute. And suddenly, practical socks. These are nice too. Pitch dark. I love these quiet countryside nights. But there are vending machines, so it’s convenient. There’s a rule that guests can’t enter the sand area from 7 p.m. to 8 a.m. It’s so the capybaras can have some private time. Since there are still 15 minutes before 7 p.m., I’m going to say good night to them. At night, capybaras stay still and quietly eat hay. Good night. But I still felt a bit lonely, so I’m going to leave some carrots in front of my room. Hoping someone would come. Then… A bunch of them came. They must have heard the sound of the carrots and came rushing over! They came pretty fast, so I panicked a little. The two in front are hogging all the carrots. By the way, you’re allowed to go out onto the deck even after 7 p.m. I couldn’t resist and went to give carrots to the ones in the back too. This moment is just perfect. Thanks for coming. Night tea time. One capybara cuddled up beside me. More of them are coming to see me. If you can spend a night like this, this hotel is absolutely worth it. I mean, you won’t find a hotel like this anywhere else in the world. A capybara even adjusted my framing and brightness for me. Good night! Good night! (‘Sup) The nighttime atmosphere in this room is amazing. I could totally fall asleep on this sofa. No, I need to sleep in the bed or my neck will die. Which bed should I choose? I’m kind of in the mood for the second floor. I’ll sleep here! I forgot to film this view. Good night. Good morning! Oh😳 Maybe because it rained, they all came to the deck! Such an unbelievably happy morning! Morning! You can enjoy this even on rainy days! Or rather, it’s nice that they come seek shelter from the rain! And everyone is hungrier in the morning. Ah, Okayu is here too! Here you go, Okayu. Good job! Apparently they all have names, but I can’t tell them apart😂 Sorry, everyone. Filming with a tripod was hard because the capybaras kept trying to chew on it. I somehow grabbed their attention with carrots and made it work.
Thank you, carrots🥕 Say cheese! Cute! One more! This is almost bingo. Okayu is on it! Cute! But they always come too close to the camera, so filming them is tough😂 Rabbits are just as hard to film. But I love them both because they’re so friendly. For me, cats and foxes are easier to film. Capybara huddle (Japanese people call this “Capi-dango”). In colder seasons, they huddle together like this to stay warm. Looks so warm! (Let me in too!) And in the morning, birds like crows also gather, making it feel like a savanna. Babies being left behind by their moms. The babies still can’t go up the stairs. (What’s that sound?😰) Ambulance sirens are scary, huh? The babies were moving around on their own, which was rare. Too cute… (What is this…?) (It’s still safer beside mom) They all fell asleep. According to the villa’s Instagram updates, they were given names! Bia, Koji, Hop, and Muru! But at this point, I really couldn’t tell them apart😅 Apparently they’re now trimmed partially so they can be identified! Check out the Instagram in the comments! They’re usually relaxed, but sometimes they fight. Capybaras are surprisingly fast when they get serious. All the carrots are gone! Good morning! Sorry, I don’t have any more carrots… I’m getting hungry too. So I came for breakfast! So luxurious! The corn soup is so good. Dinner was a mix of Japanese and Western dishes, but breakfast was mostly Western-style! Everything tasted great. Even on a cloudy day, the view looks beautiful. Besides Animal Villa, there’s also a resort villa with a tennis court! It’s available from 4 people and costs from 57,200 yen.
Cheaper than Animal Villa! There’s also a zoo nearby, which I’ll show you later in the video! I’m enjoying my last moments with the capybaras. Are you two a couple?🥰 Okayu! Thank you! Grow up big, okay? Oh no, I’m gonna cry. Okayu’s affection almost made me tear up. But of course, her appetite wins in the end. So cute😂 Stay healthy, everyone! See you again, young capybara! And stay well, you four baby rangers. Whatever scares you, overcome it together! Caw-caw🐦‍⬛ A final capybara gathering! (Please come back) I seriously had the best time! Check-out is at 10 a.m.! It’s hard to leave, but I have to check out… Thank you, Premium Room F2. Thank you so much. I booked the shuttle car for the way back, too! Now I’m at the nearby zoo! Izu Animal Kingdom has capybaras and many other animals! The entrance fee was 2,800 yen.($17.88/€15.51) First, the popular white tigers! These two are siblings, about one year old. Full of energy! Their baby photos are way too cute. There were lions too! One special thing about Animal Kingdom is how close you can get to the animals! A giraffe’s tongue is so long! It somehow looks like a seashell. Nice! Izu Animal Kingdom also has an amazing restaurant! You can eat while watching the white tigers right beside you! So close! Animal Kingdom Burger. (1600 yen/$10/€9) It’s filled with teriyaki egg and a hamburger patty. So good! So happy. Such powerful movements. They’re coming this way! Cute, but… is it aiming at something?😨 That jumping power is insane! No human could ever beat that. Beauty and the Beast. Their fan service is god-tier. Finally, the petting area! ? There’s an armadillo. It’s my first time seeing one. It has such a cute face. Holding experience. So cute! My turn! But maybe I’m bad at this… It looks like it hates it. The staff member is amazing. Goodbye. There are so many capybaras here too! Actually, Animal Kingdom and Animal Villa are run by the same company. So they work together on care, management, and social media. So many! A girl getting swarmed by capybaras. Are you sure you’re not a human in disguise? The capybaras here are just as food-loving. There were baby capybaras too! Flop-Over Challenge, Part 2. Success! This one is about the same size as Okayu. (Okayu…?) You’ve got algae around your mouth. Very wild-looking. Even parakeets are free-roaming here. I actually visited this zoo once in the summer too. So some summer footage is mixed in. They were happily bathing in the water during summer. This is something you can only see in summer. Many zoos offer capybara hot springs in winter. Unfortunately, Animal Kingdom doesn’t have that. But at Izu Shaboten Zoo, they hold the capybara hot spring every year. Please check out my past video! Besides capybaras, there were maras and wallabies. I didn’t know wallabies were this friendly! And so fluffy! (See ya) They hop just like kangaroos. (Are the treats ready yet?) A free treat event! Staff: Please choose one per person! Humans are greedier than capybaras. Of course, these treats are for the capybaras. Come this way so you don’t get stepped on! The watermelon looks delicious🍉 This event was held from July 26 to August 24 at 1:30 p.m. The capybaras snatch the treats in no time. So strong! My finger—! That’s all from the scene. This corn looks good too. Add this to next year’s travel plans. The Great Capybara Parade. You all really do eat a lot. This was so much fun! It was a wonderful zoo full of nature. Giraffes, zebras, and ostriches roam freely in this savanna area. The gift shop. Capybaras and white tigers are the two most popular animals here! This trip was all about capybaras. Heading back to the station by bus. There’s a round-trip bus between Animal Kingdom and Izu-Inatori Station. Be careful—the buses don’t run often. (360 yen/$2.30/€2.00) Thank you so much for watching the trip until the end! I hope you can all enjoy a trip to Izu someday. See you on the next trip.

    ぜひ、また泊まりにいらしてください。
