東京の秘境・奥多摩湖へ。湖畔で過ごす静かな夜と、翌日の紅葉めぐり&温泉

Good evening. This weekend, we’re heading out for a car camping trip to Lake Okutama. It’s already November, and the mornings and evenings have really cooled down. Yeah, seriously. It’s so cold in the mornings and evenings. It is. What’s the temperature now? It’s 10 degrees. Just the other day we were wearing T-shirts, and now we need down jackets because it’s that cold. I know, right? This time, we want to relax and enjoy a nice meal inside the car, and then take our time enjoying the autumn leaves the next day. It’d be great if we can also take a bath and refresh ourselves. Yeah, for sure. Please enjoy the peaceful autumn scenery of Lake Okutama until the end. Alright, let’s drive safely and get going. Here we go! I wonder if the leaves have already started changing colors. I heard this place gets really beautiful when the autumn colors are at their peak. Yeah, that’s right. I’ve only seen it in videos, but it looked amazing. I hope it’s like that now, but I’m not sure how far along the leaves are. Since it’s pretty cold, I hope they’re turning. I really want to see the lake with the autumn colors. Same here. I’m excited. Yeah. And you know, we’ve been watching that show lately. “Zetsumeshi” — the drama. Yeah, that one. So I thought maybe we could have lunch at a place like that. Yeah, yeah. And the places they visit on that show, they’re often restaurants we probably wouldn’t walk into on our own. Right, exactly. But seeing them introduced like that makes it a lot easier to go in. Yeah, and they always go to such nice places. They do. I’m really looking forward to Lake Okutama. I looked into baths, and I found some recommended hot springs around Okutama Lake. Yeah. “Moegi no Yu” looks interesting. Oh, is that a hot spring? Yeah, it seems so. It’s near Okutama Station, and apparently it’s a famous day-trip hot spring in Okutama. You can see the Tama River valley from the open-air bath. The water is alkaline simple hot spring—good for your skin. Ah, nice! Sounds good, right? Makes your skin smooth. It’s about a 10-minute walk from Okutama Station, and about 15–20 minutes by car from Okutama Lake. Shall we go there? I want to. Yeah. Sounds good. By the way, is it sunny tomorrow? We should check the weather forecast. I just looked—it says rain. Rain forecast. Well, that’s okay. Yeah, it’s fine. It’s just 1 or 2 km more. Just 1 or 2 km. Oh, a serow! Whoa, no way. It’s a baby. A baby serow. Wait, it’s not a bear, right? Bear? Not a bear. It even has tiny horns. Maybe it got separated? Probably, since it’s a baby, it got separated from its parent. I hope it safely reunites with its mother. With its family. Arrived at our destination, getting ready to sleep in the car. Moving our luggage to the driver’s seat. Setting up the handmade table. Alright. Where should I start taking things out? Please start with the stove. Not the IH? No, not that one. Okay. Ah, I’m so excited! It’s been a week since I had alcohol, right? Yeah. Recently, I had a health check-up, and well, my numbers weren’t good. Oh, really? So, I’ve been cutting back on alcohol, and only having greasy food on weekends. Yeah, only when I’m traveling. Starting with meat? Sometimes, you just want to eat something unhealthy on the weekends, right? True. Ah, it hasn’t thawed much yet. Yeah. Yeah. That’s fine. Alright. It’s pretty marbled. Looks delicious. Let’s drink! Alright. Then, this one. It’s been a week since I had alcohol. Cheers. Let’s eat. Cheers. Cheers. Mmm. So good. Really delicious. Seriously good. Why does food go so well with alcohol? Makes your appetite endless. Exactly. Looks tasty. Yeah, it really does. Here we go. Ah, but this is fine. It’s fine. If you cook it too much, it gets tough. Ah, but this has a lot of fat, so it won’t get tough. True. Looks so good. I’m getting hungry. Can’t wait to eat. It’s good because we have rice ready. Winter is perfect. Yeah. In summer, you can’t really use fire. Yeah, it gets too hot. And if you open the door, bugs come in too, right? Yeah. So this time of year is the best. Yeah. Super comfortable. Sleeping in the car at a ski resort is the best, right? It’s amazing. How’s the taste? Hot? Hot. Delicious. Okay, I’ll try some too. It’s really tender. Delicious. The saltiness is perfect too. Now, we’re going to make pepper lunch. Pepper-style lunch. Looks so good. Please serve it into the Sierra cup. Okay. Delicious. Yeah. How’s it? Not too salty? Not salty, tasty, just right. Great. Omugi-dai Parking Lot Earlier, I went to the restroom. Yeah. It didn’t have a bidet, but it was clean. It was clean, and the autumn leaves were beautiful too. A few more people have come compared to last night. We’ll clean up last night’s dishes and get breakfast ready. I was about to make coffee just now, and it looks like I spilled everything. I finally brewed it, too, after a long time. Oh no. Do we need to vacuum? Yeah, but not now. After we get back? Yeah. I’ll just clean up a little. Yeah. Okay. *laughs* Let’s tidy up. The toilet film ran out, so I’ll quickly replace it. Step 1: Use the remote to feed the film. Turn off the power. Remove the toilet seat and the inside cover. Next, remove the film guide. Place the new film roll along the guide. There’s a set position: seat, back side. Put it toward the back. Ah, the yellow one? Yes. Align the inside, since it’s a loop, making sure it’s as smooth as possible. Now, attach the film guide. Here it is. Film guide. Like this. The tie on the film roll? Yes, the one around it. Ah, the green one. Yes, remove that. You can pull it off like this. There are 4 or 5 of them. Then, push the film roll in. From the outside, it’s like a bag, a tube, so pull it out from the outside, bring it out a bit like this, pinch it and push it into the center. Push it in. There’s a jag ring here, so use the rubber roller here, press it down slightly, and hook it in. Yes, that’s it. Yeah, that’s how it goes. Alright. Then, put back the inside cover and the toilet seat cover. Done. Turn the power on, then press the button on the remote. Do this once at the beginning. This seals the inside so the film doesn’t come out. Here, in the bag, this part is being created. And that’s it. Done. Yes. We’re going for a little walk. There was a shop, so I’ll grab a drink while I’m at it. We’ll climb up over there. It’s really beautiful. There’s a place where you can take a stroll like this. A staff member at the shop told us about it. The view is wonderful, too. You can walk while enjoying the lake and autumn leaves. It’s amazing. The leaves will get even more colorful, right? Like, the green will disappear? They said more green will fade. Yes, yes. It’s beautiful. If the weather were better, it would be even nicer. Yeah. It’s a bit far from the parking lot, but you can cross the bridge by the dam, right? Looks like it. Earlier, I saw someone walking with an umbrella. Oh, let’s go there. I want to take a little walk. You don’t have to climb; you can walk from below. Along the sidewalk. Yeah, exactly. But going up there, the view was really nice. It was. There’s an observation deck, but the shop staff said the trees have grown so much that you can’t really see anything. Oh, I see. They said all you’d see is trees. Ah, got it. So we tried this spot instead. The place we just climbed is the Hill with a View. And this is probably what the shop staff meant earlier. Happo-iwa Observation Deck. There’s a deck, but you can’t see much. We’re at the parking lot now. Yeah. We just arrived here. As you go up, there are various spots. Wow, interesting. Oh, the observation deck is here. Elevation 600 meters. About 1.68 million cubic meters of concrete were used for the Ogouchi Dam. To produce this concrete, a quarry was set up at this site during the dam’s construction. Oh, really? That’s interesting. By the way, I was looking forward to Zetsumeshi, but when I searched, I found out it closed in March 2024. Ah, that’s too bad. What a shame. Was it on an island? Shimakatsu, maybe? It looked delicious from the photos. I think they had a tororo set meal or something. That’s disappointing. This is the Ogouchi Dam Observation Tower. 460 meters, free admission. Open from 10 to 4. Let’s go check out the observation tower. Let’s go. Wow, amazing. So this is how the dam looks, it blocks the water here, and there’s a generator over there. When water is released, it generates electricity, and also, this dam provides water for drinking purposes. Oh, so it stores water for that. Amazing. The Fureai Hall is located near the dam observation tower. Okutama “Water and Green Fureai Hall.” Open from 9:30 to 17:00. There are bears. And serows too. Oh, is it made of wood? Yes, wood. Wow, amazing. Mom, take a photo. Okay. There’s also a restaurant and a souvenir shop. Okay, we’re back in the car. How was it? It was fun. Surprisingly, there was a lot to see. Yeah. The Water and Green Fureai Hall was educational. There’s a restaurant and a souvenir shop too. Yeah. The only downside was the rain. Ah, that’s true. I wish we could have enjoyed the autumn leaves a bit longer. That’s true. So now? Um, Moegi no Yu. Yes, we’re going to the hot springs. It’s 7.2 km from here. Doesn’t this place look really like a hot spring? Makes you want to go for a walk. Yeah. We’re 600 meters away. I wonder if there’s a parking lot? Or should we use a coin parking? True, we didn’t really research that area. This area feels lively again, kind of like a tourist spot. Here it is, the entrance to Moegi no Yu. Looks like there’s parking. Yes, this is the parking lot. Ah, there it is. There’s a foot bath too. (Out of order) Ah, here it is, Moegi no Yu. Found it, found it. Here we are. For hikers, there’s also a place to wash your shoes. Amazing. The bath felt great. Yeah, very refreshing. There were outdoor and indoor baths. The outdoor bath was really nice. Yeah. We stayed in quite a long time; it was just too relaxing. It was fun. Yeah, really fun. We saw autumn leaves and enjoyed the hot springs. Well then, see you in the next video. Bye-bye. Bye-bye.
