【車中泊】え、何ここ…道東で見つけた不思議な土地に行ってみた。(野付半島)

Hokkaido Trip (Betsukai/Shibetsu Edition) Today, we’re heading to the eastern towns of eastern Hokkaido. Our journey begins at the roadside station in Betsukai Town. We’ve reached the observation deck on the third floor. You’d normally be able to see Kunashiri Island. Looks like we won’t be able to see it today. I can see Mount Rausu. The fog in Kushiro and Nemuro has cleared, as if it were a lie. Where can you see? This is Notsuke Peninsula The waves are breaking. It looks shallow. Notsuke Peninsula I can’t see the buildings. This one. I guess we can’t see Kunashiri Island today. Wow, I can see cars driving on Notsuke Peninsula. Oh, that’s just before the roadside station. Is that a stop? It’s not a river, it’s the sea. To the reference section on the second floor. Kunashiri on a sunny day. It’s all white! To the local products section on the first floor. Wait a minute, we have coffee milk. Betsukai specialty “triangle milk.” If the expiration date is approaching, I’ll buy them all the more. How many should I buy? I want coffee milk. Strange packaging. I found a stag beetle! A female Miyama stag beetle? It’s so hot I’ll dry out. I went underground. I just bought some milk. I’ll repair the water hose. I’ll temporarily glue it down with waterproof glue. It was a good idea to bring my toolbox. Okay, let’s get going. I’m out of range here right now. Yesterday, at the roadside station (with free Wi-Fi), Map I downloaded Google Maps. I heard it works offline. There’s a massive outbreak of red-veined fly bugs. These bugs will cause damage later. Let’s get started! Betsukai It’s at Odaito Roadside Station. A whole new world awaits you here. There’s a pamphlet called “A whole new world awaits you here.” It’s incredibly useful. I’d like to use this as a guide for my trip today. Betsukai Town This is the perfect tourist information guide. Wow! This is a really well-made pamphlet. See, it’s well-organized. There were a few bugs, Odaito. Is it more insect likes than bugs? Insects Why are there so many stag beetles? I wonder why there are so many of them? According to a local guy, it’s a mountain stag beetle. I’m not an expert, so I don’t know. Our first destination is… Japan’s largest sand spit. Notsuke Peninsula Here we are! Notsuke Peninsula It’s 18km long. To the tip It’s completely flat Ocean on both sides. Actually, before I went to Hokkaido This Notsuke Peninsula While browsing Hokkaido on Google Maps I wondered why it was here. There’s a peninsula. And that made me want to go. And that’s how I found it. Right. I wondered what kind of shape it was. From here, I’d enter the open sea again. Open sea! Quick correction, lol Wow, the ocean’s so close! Exhilarating! Ah, this is it! “Narawara” – a forest of dead oak trees It’s so interesting to see all the different views. I spotted a Hokkaido deer! Chance to see a deer! Such impressive antlers! Wait, wait… Isn’t there a huge herd over there? Really?! This is kind of normal now. Encountering deer in eastern Hokkaido is now the norm. Arrived at the parking lot Looks like a submarine A toilet remade from something There’s a deer over there Eating grass It’s so cute! So cute! No further than this. I guess cars aren’t allowed in after all. Following the rules is important. Shall we go? That lighthouse Let’s stop. Let’s fly a drone. Amazing terrain once again!! A sand spit is a landform formed by the accumulation of sand carried by ocean currents. The area off the peninsula is rugged and has fast currents, making it one of Hokkaido’s best fishing spots. Amazing!! What a beautiful view! I can see some mountains in front of me. So that’s Kunashiri Island on the right. So I can see it. Ussura-ano. I can see it with polarized glasses. A herd of deer! “Todowara,” where the Sakhalin fir trees have died. You can walk there and see it! I can see an island over there. Whoa! Isn’t it really visible? Now Wow, I can see it so clearly! Is it there? Parking We’re in Kunashiri now. I can see Kunashiri Island! Oh, there it is! Watch out for cows crossing! I wanted to see this sign, lol. Another destination. Driving along Melody Road. Oh, that sign . just fine! Oh, the pasture is green! It said that. I heard it. There are many times as many cows as people. Was it times as many? Betsukai Town is the number one raw milk producer in Japan! A milk-producing town with approximately 110,000 cows, seven times the seven population. Heading into downtown Betsukai Town. Honbetsukai, of all places. Betsukai within Betsukai. Ah, this is Milk House. Milk House One vanilla soft serve ice cream, Please. And a caramel soft serve, please. There’s a giant dragonfly here. Really? Seeing you in a place like this makes me trust you even more, lol. Caramel soft serve. So much! It melts so quickly. It’s already dripping! Chi-chan’s. That’s bad! It’s being eaten by the ground. Yup! Delicious, delicious! Yup, it’s delicious! Oh, it’s so rich! So rich!! Isn’t it so smooth on the tongue? Yup! The caramel’s already gone, lol. To Betsukai Dairy Industry Co. Huh? No one’s there. Can I buy dairy products here? There are lots of Betsukai dairy products, aren’t there? A jug of milk!! Is this the milk they make here? This one Across the country? Amazing. The one I’m familiar with is… Yes, there is… In Shonan… This is the one I buy often. Only in Hokkaido can you make a whole row… Hokkaido level!! Until just now, there were zero parking spaces. I went to the supermarket to buy ingredients. They specialize in gifts. Yeah, that’s right. It’s hot. It’s hot today. The locals say it’s too hot. Gourmet ingredients complete. We descended to the coast. We headed to the fishing port to look for our main ingredients. From the port . From the hill. this. “Odaito” So this is how they transport it. The giant scallops from Betsukai are… Oh, it’s all salmon. Ah, scallops. I came here to buy scallops. Fresh Fresh is no longer available for sale. I see. The fishing season ends at the end of May. Oh, really? The next season starts in December. I see! The fishing season is December through May. Heading to the campsite. Camping supplies. I was counting on scallops. I only have a little bit of pork. So, a little… At Secoma. I wonder if there’s anything… What do you think? This is… Is it a lot? Sea and grass! Prices don’t match the spectacular views. Checking in I can’t believe it! To my surprise, They were selling it in the management building! They were selling giant scallops from Notsuke!! Great!! The road is narrow, so be careful. Great location! Great view!! They even have bungalow-like structures! All the grass is… It seems like a free site. I guess I can park my car over there. There’s a parking lot along the waterfront. I guess I’ll just have to wait until there’s a spot available. Is it It seems the blue basket area is a no-no. Shall we stop here? I tried stopping it like this. The ocean is on the other side. Let’s go to the beach! It’s so big! That’s the campground over there. It looked prettier over there. There’s no current at all. Is that the ocean? Here Problem… Just now I just arrived at the campsite. There are so many bugs. There are so many! Maybe… Fly It’s so huge! But when I opened the curtains… It was so beautiful! It had an ocean view… About 5 meters high. But… There are so many bugs I can’t go outside. Nah, what a nice view! If I go outside, I’ll be attacked by horseflies, so I’ll wait in the car. But it’s hot because there’s no air conditioning. It’ll cool down again at night. The view is amazing! The water line has been fixed. Since there’s nothing to do, I’ll have an early meal. Otofuke vegetables Neighborhood vegetables Atka mackerel from Rausu. Looks delicious! This is it! Main dish! Giant scallops from Betsukai!! These are from Notsuke. They’re frozen, though. The color is so different. It’s called a sea crest. I went to the fishing association. They don’t catch any Betsukai! He said that. I was in despair, but Miraculously , it turned up at the campsite . bugs. I’ll just stay here for a bit. I thought I’d just go straight in. Is low heat okay? It’s already dripping. It’s pretty much dripping. I’ll clamp it with this. Secure it. Change of strategy. Water’s dripping onto the burner. The fire’s gone out. I decided to use a frying pan. I’ll steam them. Butter I’ll have them with butter and soy sauce! Steamed scallops. Looks delicious. Delicious! Delicious! Butter and soy sauce is the best! The second picture is my grilled revenge. Looks delicious! The Atka Mackerel was delicious as always. Thank you for the meal. Milk cubes. And At Secoma. I was depressed because they didn’t have any scallops. I bought some to cheer myself up. Cream puffs I ended up eating it, though. Amazing. This Where do I drink it from? Is it this? Peel off this tape. Do I put a straw in it? Put it in here It’s a sturdy container. It stands up! Delicious Can I have some coffee, please? It tastes more like coffee than I expected! They sell it at hot springs. It’s stronger than coffee milk. It’s not sweet. I’ll have to try this. Hokkaido Choux They probably sell it everywhere (lol). Delicious! This is what they serve at Betsukai. Oh, apparently. Elementary and Junior High School Oh! I’m so jealous! Oh! This is delicious! It’s 26 degrees, but… I feel like this is the hottest day since I came to Hokkaido. By the way, The city lights are faint. Let’s go to bed. Beautiful sunrise!! A very quiet and relaxing campsite. But the onslaught of insects didn’t end… In the end, I only went outside to go to the bathroom, lol I’m a bit traumatized by horseflies. They were swarming around my car. At the roadside station in Odaito And in other campers too. He was ramming into things like this. I wonder if this is his natural habit? It’s a nice campsite, though. The sunrise was so beautiful! I went back to sleep, though. I went back to sleep, though! I’m taking a shower in the administration building. This is probably the biggest weight I’ve lost in a single weight. This might be the biggest I’ve lost in a single day. I used the exhaust fan a lot. Half. I’m going to use the hair dryer from here. How much power are you using? From 48 Measuring the power consumption of a hair dryer It’s only using 2%. 2% There are an awful lot of these horseflies. Tonight’s a day off from sleeping in the car. I’m staying in Shibetsu Town. Notsuke Bay is frozen. Not a hole for smelt. Chicken? Apparently, you can catch some. Something like that. I saw some tiny fish swimming. Today, we’re touring: Shibetsu Town, the Salmon Town Boasting one of the highest salmon catches in Japan. The natural scenery, including Shibetsu Marsh and Mount Shari, is also captivating! The Shiretoko Mountain Range is in sight. We’ve entered Shibetsu Town! This salmon on the streetlight is adorable! Salmon sculpture on a street lamp “Go to the Salmon Science Museum” to learn about salmon ecology There’s a place called Salmon Plaza There’s a place called the Salmon Science Museum This is Salmon Plaza This is the Salmon Science Museum It’s huge! Salmon mecca! It’s huge! A sacred place for salmon. Admission fee: ¥650 They’re closed in the middle of winter. They’re closed in December and January. Wow! A huge aquarium right away! Salmon Family Chum Salmon Pink Salmon Ah, the back is full. So many salmon family members. Salmon? There’s something big there. There is, right? This one is… It’s been here forever. A “black rockfish” swimming leisurely. Is that a rainbow trout? And that one in the back is a rainbow trout? I thought it was a huchen . Aren’t cherry salmon yamame salmon descended from the sea? I’m not sure what species it is… Ah! It’s a clionella! Clione! Because it has to be cold? This might be the first time I’ve seen it. It looks like something from Hokkaido!! A fish that anglers would love. The museum is pretty spacious. See! It’s spacious. This one. Isn’t that a huchen? The Mysterious Fish “Taimen” Wow! It’s huge! It’s huge! It’s about 80 centimeters long, I think. Taimen can get this big! Oh, I heard they sell bait. Shall I feed them? Got it I heard it’s really impressive when you feed it to the taimen. Feeding experience Amazing! Something like that It’s so big, it’s “very impressive” *Water splashes sometimes. Everyone always gives the big ones. The smaller ones are more appealing. *Men turn back into boys. Sturgeon finger-licking experience The feeling of being bitten It’s the same as being bitten by a baby Shall we try it? Shall I try it? Scatter some food. Put my finger in there. Make it blend in. Bang! Isn’t he eating roughly? I started to get scared when I saw how he was eating. Does he really have no teeth? I’m starting to wonder if he even has teeth, lol Wow, that’s scary, honestly. He’s the type to go at it first, lol He’s just so strong. I reflexively pulled my finger back. This… Crunching… It’s so fast Scary I’ll give them all the leftover food. It’s so crowded (lol) This is what it looks like from above. There’s a place to throw food over there. From above. Look. You can really see how big that huchen is. It’s huge. It’s huge! It’s a completely different size. What color is salmon flesh originally? It’s red, right? It’s white. I just saw it. Krill They eat something red like shrimp. That ‘s why their flesh turns red . so that’s salmon roe! How much was it? I thought it was cod roe. It looked like it was connected. Longitudinously Even though it’s the Salmon Science Museum, lol I wondered why. Akan!? I can see Mt. Akan! Mt. Meakan and Mt. Oakan They’re a little spiky. This is the Shiretoko Mountain Range. I bought an eco bag and coasters. Why is it so sunny? (Even though the forecast was cloudy with rain) The weather forecast is completely unreliable. I realized that. What if Shinoda-san doesn’t work? Ramen House What if Ramen House doesn’t work? How about Takeda? Takeda seems to be the busiest, though. This is a local set meal restaurant. Fried salmon set meal and I ordered the daily special. This is the daily special. Daily special set meal. Salmon. Sashimi Shiokara? Is this chawanmushi? Wow! Looks delicious! Starting with the sashimi Delicious! Delicious! “Fried Salmon Set” Meal” Oh, it’s hot! Delicious… Thanks for the meal! It was so delicious!! My belly ‘s so full That was a huge portion . student Going to the tourist information center to look for the country sign There were no country signs, but I got some useful information! Tonight’s accommodation To Hotel Kawabata They have a hot spring with natural spring water. Tonight I’m staying overnight, so I’ll just stay overnight. I went to Secoma to buy dinner. Grossing done. Apparently the hot springs are great. Japanese-style room Wow! Nice! The tatami mats are beautiful! So calming! Air conditioner Purchased at Salmon Park (Science Museum) Taimen coaster and Salmon eco bag Secoma party Guarana sour Apparently, it’s Secoma’s original drink. You’re right, it says Secoma on it. Cheers to Shibetsu Town!! Ah! Delicious! Can I have a sip? This peperoncino is apparently delicious. And yakisoba… Daruma sushi Delicious! There’s quite a bit of meat in it. And cabbage? It smells so strong of garlic. Yup, it’s delicious! The garlic is really strong and delicious. I don’t really notice the chili peppers. I’ll have some fried noodles too. I like this color. The fried noodles look rich in flavor. Delicious. It tastes like street-style fried noodles. After-dinner dessert And birthday cake Celebrating Chi-chan’s birthday A cheap birthday party while traveling, lol So fluffy! Yup, it’s delicious. The next morning Unfortunately, it’s raining today. Breakfast The car camping trip resumes. A lovely hotel with a Japanese feel. It’s raining in Shibetsu today. It’s raining. I’m heading to Nakashibetsu Airport I’m heading there for a bit. Traveling by plane. That’s not the point. There’s one in every city, town, and village in Hokkaido. There’s something called a country sign. I recently visited Betsukai Town. Dairy farming is flourishing there, so maybe they have a cow logo? I wanted a magnet with a country sign. I wanted one. I wanted a Shibetsu Town magnet. I couldn’t find one at the Shibetsu Tourist Information Center. I was told they had one at Nakashibetsu Airport. I went just to buy that magnet. I’m heading to the airport. Why bother? The tourist information center staff also… At the tourist information center They said they wanted to make it possible to purchase them. They were just in the middle of saying something. I was planning to visit Shibetsu Town again today, but… With this kind of rain… Skip a bit And come back again It’s a three-day weekend, after all. Shiretoko is a bit of a stretch for a three-day weekend. It might be a bit of a stretch no matter where we go, but The weather isn’t great either. Let’s change the route for now. The weather in Shiretoko isn’t great. Nowhere to stay for the three-day weekend. And there aren’t many campsites. Free campsites. Make a reservation, leave the campsite, and come back. I can’t do that. Let’s just say I’m going to Shiretoko on a weekday. I’m heading towards Akan and Mashu now. To coincide with the three-day weekend. I was thinking of doing some mountain climbing as well. The more people there are, the better. Bears and stuff. I was also wondering if I could avoid the risks. Even though I learned a lot at Bear Mountain, Shibetsu Town too . too. It’s listed there. Tourist Information Center You can get one if you go. These two are already mine. My favorite city/town. The information you get from the pamphlet . It ‘s high quality . the Betsukai/Shibetsu edition. Thank you for watching until the end! If you enjoyed this video, please give it a thumbs up and subscribe! Thank you!
