【お花見】河津川の河津桜並木をひたすら歩いた雨の日のVlog。閑散とした桜の散り際は美しい。/ Japan travel, Viewing Rainy Kawazu cherry blossoms.
March 2025. We have arrived in Kawazu Town on the Izu Peninsula. Kawazu Town is famous as the birthplace of Kawazu-zakura, an early-blooming type of cherry blossom. Although the weather is bad and the peak viewing season has passed, we seem to have caught the blossoms at the perfect stage just before they scatter. Kawazu Town is always extremely crowded during the cherry blossom season, but it is quiet today. This is likely due to the Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival having ended a few days ago and the drizzly weather. Bustling cherry blossom avenues are wonderful, but it’s also nice to walk quietly while listening to the sound of rain. 😌 Sunny cherry blossoms are vibrant and go without saying, but rainy cherry blossoms have their own charm too. The low-contrast scenery hinting at high humidity, petals drooping under the weight of the rain, and the uniquely mysterious hue of pink create a different atmosphere. It’s not dramatic, but there’s a serene beauty in the calmness. 😊 There was a bright red bridge. The Kawazu-zakura avenue is very long and lined with many bridges. Stretching about 4 kilometers along the Kawazu River, approximately 800 Kawazu cherry trees are planted here, creating a charming landscape. 😊 Today, I plan to walk all the way to the end. 💪 Although some leaves are starting to show, the pink blossoms are still adorable. Some areas have already turned mostly to leaves. Cherry blossoms on the verge of scattering with raindrops are lovely as well. This area also had plenty of rape blossoms in bloom. The scenery is so beautiful that there are a few cherry blossom viewers even despite the rain. It’s my first time gazing intently at rape blossoms on a rainy day. They remain graceful even in bad weather. On sunny days, the crowd here is so large that you can’t even see far ahead, so visiting on a rainy day seems to be a good option as well. I once visited Kawazu Town on a perfect cherry blossom viewing day, but I was overwhelmed by the crowd and couldn’t properly enjoy this area. This is a beautiful spring scene. The rain is getting heavier. Today’s forecast predicted a maximum of around 3mm/h, but it is undoubtedly raining more heavily than that. ☔ Let’s enjoy the sound of the rain as we walk. A wonderful promenade adorned with a lush pink hue. Thanks to the rain, the path has turned into a mirror, reflecting the pink blossoms. Let’s view the cherry blossom avenue from the top of the bridge. Beautiful… Cherry blossoms blooming as if they were covering the embankment—simply spectacular. The view on the other side is also breathtaking. The mist-covered mountains in the background evoke a sense of majestic nature. 😊 It has become even quieter. The cherry blossoms seem a bit lonely. It’s so peaceful and incredibly relaxing… Is this area the final spot for the stalls? I found a place where I can go down. Cherry blossoms—should I view them from above or below? Going down brings me closer to the sound of the river, making it feel more immersive. This is such a luxurious experience. 😌 It has started pouring heavily. The cherry blossoms are becoming more magical as the rain intensifies. In exchange, my shoes are soaking wet. 😇 I’m walking in sneakers instead of rain shoes, so they’ve been flooded, leaving my socks completely drenched. Maybe I should think of it as sharing the same feeling as the cherry blossoms right now. 🤔 The number of fallen petals is rapidly increasing. With rain this heavy, this might be the end of the season for the cherry blossoms here. Kawazu Town is quite rural as it’s located in the southern part of Izu. Because of that, the surrounding scenery is full of nature, making it a fantastic environment for enjoying cherry blossoms. Compared to urban areas, it may fall short in terms of convenience, but in terms of peace of mind, I think this place wins hands down. I hope landscapes like this will continue to exist in Japan in the future. I’ve reached the end of the cherry blossom avenue. Even on sunny days, this area is sparsely populated, making it a relaxing space. There were also spots where a pink carpet of petals was spread out. Alright, time to head back. On the return journey, I’ll try walking a bit away from the river or along the other side of it. From a slight distance, it feels even more apparent that I’m in the middle of nature. There seems to be an observation deck ahead. I can see the cherry blossom avenue along the river in the distance. Indeed, I can spot a continuous line of pink blossoms. I’ve returned to the riverside. Since I’ve walked along the east side, now to the west promenade. This side also has a pink carpet of petals spread out and looks beautiful. 😊 A pathway covered in pink above and below is a rainy-day-only view. ☔ What an adorable path. 🤭 I’m tired from walking, so it’s time for a little break. There was a footbath! The sensation of thawing my cold feet in the warm water feels amazing. 🫠 Several footbaths are set up along the Kawazu-zakura avenue, which is truly appreciated. 😊 Even though Izu is warm, the season for Kawazu-zakura can be quite chilly. Upon leaving the footbath, the clouds had grown even thicker. It’s a bit dark, but I might prefer this atmosphere. Even waiting at a traffic light feels melancholic on a rainy day. I’ve always enjoyed taking photos on rainy days, but videos capture the motion and sound of rain more effectively, conveying the somber mood beautifully. 😌 I’ve returned to the Nanohana Road, and there are even fewer people than earlier. Cherry blossoms and rape blossoms drenched in rain appear even more ephemeral. There was even someone covered in cherry blossom petals. 🤭 Their rain-soaked appearance gives them an extraordinary transparency. I’m glad I can find beauty in these wet petals. The Nanohana Road is coming to an end. I’m glad I got to walk through a quiet Kawazu. Exiting the Kawazu-zakura avenue, I reached a residential area. Beyond this point, once I reach the sea, this journey will come to an end. Even the fallen petals swaying in the rain seem to bid farewell. It was my first time seeing the Kawazu-zakura avenue with so few people on a rainy day. Though many blossoms had sprouted leaves, so it wasn’t entirely pink, the quiet allowed for a reflective view of cherry blossoms signaling the end of spring. I’ll include about ten photos of Kawazu that I took in the past. I’ve arrived at the sea. This is the end of the video. Thank you for watching. Bye-bye.

I love how the perfectly preserved cherry blossoms stick to the metal bars. I love the close up's of the rain dropping from the petals and the steam from the foot bath. This was highly enjoyable to watch. Thank you!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
This was so charming and magical. The small town snuck between mountains drowning in low clouds is just beautiful and your ability to find tiny little charming details like a sakura petal attached to a petal on a different flower or whole carnations heavy with rain water definitely increases the charm of the whole situation. It's been a pleasure to watch. Thank you for sharing 🙂
