【タイ チェンマイ🇹🇭】地元民だけの「タイ式焼肉」がコスパ最強すぎた

Alright, let’s get on board. And so, we’ve arrived at Chiang Mai International Airport. Wow, what an amazing room. Wat Lam Chang. Oh, a kitty. There’s one over there too. And so, we’ve arrived. Tha Phae Gate. It’s pork. Time to eat. Hello! I’m zensenekootoko. I am currently in Bangkok, Thailand. So, yesterday, I arrived in Thailand on a business class flight. Today is my second day. Yesterday, I didn’t film and just relaxed, enjoying the local markets. When you think of Thailand, this is it, right? Hot snacks. Of course, I bought some. A trip to Thailand can’t start without eating this. Unfortunately, they didn’t have my favorite one that’s like a Chinese-style flying fish roe salad. They were out. So instead, this. It’s shrimp roe instead. This is a flying fish roe and mayonnaise rice ball. I bought it, so I’m going to eat it now. Let’s dig in. Delicious! Seriously, if you come to Thailand, for those who haven’t been here yet, you have to try this at least once. You’ll get totally hooked. I really wish they’d sell this in Japan, but I’m sure they never will. The reason is it takes a lot of time and effort. So, starting like this, today, from Bangkok, I’m heading to Chiang Mai in northern Thailand. I’ll be traveling there. I’ll be sharing that journey with you all, coming up next. Let’s go! Northern Thailand. Over there, Domestic Departures. I’m going to check in now. The taxi driver, at the end, in Japanese, said “Arigato gozaimasu” (Thank you). He seemed like a very kind person. Okay, from here, I’m going to check my suitcase. The prices are like this. The smallest size is 150 baht, medium is 180 baht, and oversized is 200 baht. So, I’ve just checked it in. It was really quick. You get a ticket like this. Since it was oversized, it was indeed 200 baht. And since it’s for a day and a half, it came out to 500 baht. Okay, now I’m going to check in for my flight. By the way, that luggage storage place I was just at, apparently has a service that also delivers your luggage to your hotel. So, if you find it a hassle to carry your luggage around, it might be a good idea to use it. So, I checked in quickly, and I’m through the departure inspection as well. Since it’s a domestic flight, it was over in a flash. Well then, right away, at the airport, it’s all about the lounge, so I’m off to the lounge. Oh. Okay, so, inside the lounge, I’ll show you the atmosphere and the food. First, the drinks look like this. There’s juice and water. They have them. Next to it is dessert. They have a huge variety. And it’s like this. Sandwiches. There are many kinds. And here… Besides the drinks from before, there’s also this. There’s a coffee machine. And you can make iced drinks too, right here. I didn’t realize that and made a hot latte, which I’m regretting now. They also have a wide variety of alcohol. I got a little bit of everything. A sandwich, and underneath this, stir-fried vegetables, yakisoba, some kind of stir-fried chicken, and something like Yangnyeom chicken ribs and rice. Time to eat. Time to eat. The food is good too. Mmm, mmm. Yeah, this is nice. It seems you can get a massage in this lounge. It’s probably free. Just now, someone was getting a shoulder tap massage. Nice. Even for this domestic flight, oh, this. Right now I’m at Suvarnabhumi Airport, but it’s great that you can get this even on a domestic flight. That’s nice. And also, there are two lounges where you can use Priority Pass, so that’s great too. Earlier, I showed it briefly in the video, but the alcohol selection is really extensive. Besides beer, they also had things like cocktails. Well, since I’m heading to Chiang Mai, and I’ll be drinking a lot there, I think I’ll skip it for today. My friend was drinking a beer earlier, though. He was. By the way, the atmosphere of the lounge is like this, very natural. Wow. It’s like this, kind of like a greenhouse. So, I brought this for an extra helping. This would definitely sell if they had it in stores in Japan. It’s so delicious. I don’t know, it just has a flavor that suits Japanese tastes. So, I ordered it. Siam Mojito. The color is completely different from the picture. By the way, the picture I took earlier… the picture… The picture I took is this. It looks a bit paler, doesn’t it? Cheers. A mojito with this straw… I might get drunk from this. Okay. Let’s have a drink. Thought it was a bug, but it wasn’t. This is pretty strong stuff. I have a feeling I’m going to get drunk. The speed is like this. The Wi-Fi in the lounge is fast. So, I’ve enjoyed the lounge. The alcohol selection was great, and the food was delicious too. As for that mojito, I stopped at just one. Now, I just went through the carry-on baggage check. Unlike international flights, first, you show your passport and enter an area. Inside that area, there are lounges and food courts. Not right before boarding, but a little before that, a little ways in, there’s the carry-on check. So, if you’re carrying liquids and such, be careful. The boarding gate area is like this. So it’s not much different from an international flight. Like in Singapore, if they check you right before boarding, it takes a ton of time. But this was before that, so it was better. However, I don’t know if my bag was messy, or if something was wrong, but it got checked. I wasn’t carrying any liquids over 100ml, so it was fine. “Be at the gate by :25,” is what they said, but what time is it now… It seems the plane arrived at 1:55. This is definitely a delay. Okay, I’m going to board now. To Chiang Mai. Let’s go. Okay, let’s board. Jeez, it’s not even my turn, but there are so many people in front of me, it was hard to get in. Chiang Mai Airport. Arrival. It’s kind of mystical weather, isn’t it? Glad we didn’t have to take a bus. Yeah. Alright, let’s go. Before exploring the city of Chiang Mai, I’ll give you some brief, basic information about Chiang Mai, Thailand. I’ll introduce it now. First, the official language is Thai. However, the northern dialect is also used. The currency is the Thai Baht. 1 baht is about 4.6 Japanese yen. The main religion is Buddhism. In temples, revealing clothing should be avoided. The capital city is Bangkok. The place I was just at. The time difference is 2 hours behind Japan. As a fun fact, the old city is an area surrounded by a wall and a moat. Many historical temples and stylish cafes are gathered within this area, making it a base for exploration. Also, Thailand is a street food paradise. You can enjoy food stall gourmet. A person’s head is considered a sacred part of the body, so even with children, casually patting their head is a no-go. That was a brief introduction, but that’s the basic info on Chiang Mai, Thailand. Please continue watching. So, Chiang Mai International Airport. Arrival. It’s been a while since I’ve seen this sight. Nice. By the way, you can charter a car here, but today, instead of that, I’m not using that. Outside the airport, I’ll hail a Grab taxi. Apparently, that’s cheaper. Let’s go see. So, there’s now a Grab Point where Grab taxis can stop. They didn’t have this before, but maybe because so many people use it now, they made a spot like this. Looking at this, it doesn’t seem like I’ll be able to catch one easily. What should I do? Now, I went outside thinking I’d look for a GrabBike, but it seems in Chiang Mai, there aren’t many bikes running near the airport. And GrabCar, I can’t seem to catch one at all. Well, what to do… I’ll try one more time, and if that doesn’t work, I’ll use that. So, I couldn’t catch a Grab taxi, so I’m taking an airport taxi. This is probably easier and more convenient. It seems like Grab taxis don’t really operate much around this airport. So, we’re in the car. Starting today, it’s The Suri Lanna. Okay, let’s go check in. (Speaking English) (Speaking English) Yes. Check in? (Speaking English) Checked in. Wow, what an amazing room. I’m sharing this room with my friend, but… Huh? Did I book a room like this? I’m shocked. Room tour time. It’s a twin bed room. Since it’s a trip with two guys, the beds are separate. And there’s a character that looks like it’s from Disney placed here. I wonder what this is. Join us in saving the earth. I guess it’s for environmental conservation. First, on the opposite side, there’s a mirror like this. The lighting is a bit dim. And what’s this? Oh, that’s the accommodation agreement. And next to it, there’s an electric kettle, water, coffee, and so on. There’s probably a small fridge underneath. And a huge TV, for some reason. You can watch YouTube and Netflix. You can even watch my videos. And to the right of that, Oh, lots of hangers. And oh, the electrical panel is exposed. Oh, but wow, they even have room wear. And to the left is the washroom. Oh, it’s so clean. It’s a great size, even ladies would be happy. And the height of the mirror goes way above my own height. No idea why they made the mirror that tall. And below is hand soap and… what else… body lotion. And cotton swabs. There are two sets of shower caps. And next to that, there’s a toilet, and what’s this… This is probably a men’s urinal? There are two, how unusual. And get this, this room doesn’t just have a shower, it has a bathtub too. Awesome. This is awesome. Over here, there’s a token amount of shampoo and body soap. For some reason, it’s only one set. That’s so typical, not giving two sets, but one. That’s very Thai. And then there’s this mysterious… What’s this? This too… That’s also a shower. To the right here, there’s an overhead shower and… you know, even though they have that, there’s another one. And then shower gel and shampoo. This is also very Thai. Why not just use two bottles, why do it like this? I love how Thai it is. The AC wasn’t on, so it’s a bit hot, but it’s a really nice hotel. And then, this is the view from the front. There’s a pond, and koi are swimming. There’s a small balcony too. This is great, perfect. And over there, there’s a pool. Right now, some Westerners are having a lot of fun. You can use the pool for free. And, you can also borrow bath towels for the pool. As for this room, for two nights, it’s 3,480 baht. In Japanese yen, that’s about 16,000 yen. So that’s 8,000 yen per person. Cheap. So for 4,000 yen per night, you get this level of quality. As expected, hotels in Chiang Mai are much more affordable compared to Bangkok. This is what the inn looks like. The atmosphere outside is amazing. Wow. So this is it. It’s a pretty nice place. Okay, now I’m going to take a Grab Bike to a certain temple. A GrabBike dropped me off here. … Oops, I stumbled over my words. This temple is called Wat Lam Chang. The reason I came here is because another YouTuber, Mark Wiens, said that here, there are lots of cats. So I came to see. I’m going to see if I can find any. I’ll go look for them. If you come to Chiang Mai, you should definitely visit. And a stray dog crosses the road. There’s a stray doggy over there. Hey doggy, hey doggy. You’re definitely someone’s pet. Look at that face, your coat is so glossy. But for some reason, he looks a bit lost, which is cute. I’ve been hearing thunder for a while now. I asked a friend in Thailand, and apparently, it’s the rainy season in Chiang Mai now, so it rains quite a bit. I’m a “rain man” (bringer of rain), so I’m pretty sure it’s going to rain during my stay. I remember now. I think I went to this restaurant the last time I was in Chiang Mai. I went there for breakfast. How nostalgic. I had an amazing breakfast dish there. If you’re interested, I’ll link that video, so please check it out. Now, this is a temple that was right in front of the hotel I stayed at when I came to Chiang Mai before. It’s really, kind of divine. And at the same time, the sound of these wind chimes was very memorable. It’s so… …nice. The name… I can’t remember the name… Oh, got it. Or maybe not. Nope, sorry, it was a different temple. This place is called Wat Dokkham. I mean, each and every one of these decorations is just so lovely. What is it… It’s just lovely. That’s all I can say. So, I’m at the edge of the square-shaped area in Chiang Mai. The hotel I stayed at last time is around here. It’s around here somewhere. Oh, there it is. It’s around there on this street. It’s called Spice Garden. It’s a bit of a walk to get there, so sorry, I’ll use Google. It’s really nice. Well, there’s no elevator, but it’s really great, and the rating is still 4.5. It’s a great place. This area is a bit away from the shopping and all that, but there are lots of restaurants, so it’s very nice. Also, Tha Phae Gate is super close, so if you want to go to Tha Phae Gate, this area might be good. And most importantly, it’s quiet. It’s not noisy. This might be a good area to stay in. However, along this main road, it’s pretty noisy, so I recommend a place one street in. Alright, so here we are, Tha Phae Gate. Tha Phae Gate… they’re doing it again. They’re doing it again, right? Man… By the way, right now at Tha Phae Gate, besides me and that pigeon guy, almost everyone else is Chinese. I still have no idea how you’re supposed to get a cool picture with pigeons. It’s been years, but I just don’t get the “cool factor” of it. It’s really a mystery. And then, there are even people doing it themselves. What a chaotic scene. Yeah. This is the one spot in Chiang Mai that I just can’t understand. As Tha Phae Gate itself, it’s a wonderful place with a lot of history, but… this attraction, or activity, or whatever you call it… This is the one thing I really don’t get. … I wonder what that guy is holding. I’m so curious. While listening to music, I just passed by and looked… and believe it or not, this guy… …is looking for a wife, apparently. What a public appeal! In Japan now, the main ways to meet people are through things like matching apps, but this guy is going old-school. He’s looking for a wife holding that. Amazing. This is so Thailand. I love it. Whoa, I just saw a money exchange place over there, and for 10,000 yen, you get 1,970 baht. It’s dropped below 2,000. This is crazy. Apparently, this is the highest the yen has been in the last five years. The days of cheap, cheap Thailand are over. For Japanese people, it’s become a bit expensive. That’s the era we’re in now. This is one of the temples I visited the last time I was here. I think for 20 baht, you could get some noodles at this temple. Well, it’s late now, so everything’s closed, but… so nostalgic. It feels like I’m on a pilgrimage to my past travels. By the way, those noodles were incredibly delicious. I remember thinking, for 20 baht, this quality is insane. Well, it’s already 8:20 PM now, so it’s not open. Probably… here. You can eat around this stall. It’s a truly divine temple. By the way, this temple’s name is… I can’t remember the name. Got it. Right, this temple is called Wat Phan On. As I was walking, I came here too. This is a place I visited last time. This is turning into a trip down memory lane. It’s a place that sells works created by various people, kind of like an art gallery. I’m sure ladies would definitely love it. By the way, I seem to be the only customer. Yeah, there are really all sorts of things. It might not feel very “Chiang Mai,” it’s very… clean and tidy. Mmm, they sell a lot of lovely things, but this time I’ve decided not to buy anything, so I won’t be buying. And finally, for a trip down memory lane, this is the Chiang Mai police station. I think I mentioned this last time too. There’s no Japanese, only Chinese writing. I have a memory of saying how sad that was. I also remember seeing a completely wrecked car. Where is it? Is this it? Ah! We’re here at Atsawin! Ah! We’re here! Atsawin! Wow, it’s pretty busy. Google rating 4.9. Alright, let’s go. It’s almost all Thais. No tourists here. Yeah. Sauces. There’s a lot, so let’s just grab some. There are 3 kinds nearby. Lots of choices. Lots of… oh, it’s pretty well-organized. They have a lot. It’s a spicy sauce, isn’t it? Yeah. But hey, it’s easy to tell the cuts of meat. True. It’s just like in Japan. Pork and beef. Oh, beef? Yeah. But that stuff over there is a bit… Oh, is that squid? Squid. You startled me. Let’s just grab some. I’m sure they have it too. I think there’s offal too. Over on the right side. Ah, offal. Yeah. Ah, maybe it’s not squid. The seafood is over here like this. This side has ice on it. But that side over there doesn’t. I wonder why. No, no, for two people. Two people? Per person, it’s probably 249. That cheap? Yeah. Oh, it said so online. Something like that. Right. I don’t know how it gets a 4.9. Well, that’s true. And this is 70 baht. Doesn’t it look delicious, though? Yeah. This is probably beef. I’m not sure about this part. This looks like cartilage. Maybe. This must be pork. Pork. Pork, yeah. All pork? No, this is beef. Pork, oh beef. It sticks together a lot. It’s still frozen. Right. Oh, right, right. Yeah. Gotta cook it well. Exactly. On the contrary, because it’s frozen. It’s a common thing. Yeah. But in Laos, it came out just like this too. Right. Yeah, yeah, it’s this kind of thing. So, the most decent-looking one is this signature? Signature. This one looks like chili sauce. Chili sauce. And the middle one? This is probably the most like yakiniku sauce. Ah, yakiniku sauce. And this one? And this is cilantro & spicy? Cilantro & spicy. Ah, then I’ll probably only use the one on the right. It’s pork. Mmm. Delicious. The yakiniku sauce is the best. Oh, really? It’s delicious. I don’t need the signature sauce, just give me the normal one. Just want the normal one. But, what’s good is good. It’s good, right? I’m voting for this yakiniku sauce. Surprisingly tasty. Anything other than the signature is probably bad. It’s unusually red. Like, that one itself might be spicy. Oh, you mean it’s marinated? So I think you don’t need to dip it. Ah, that would make sense. Sauce. It’s redder than it looks to the naked eye. It’s red even after grilling. Oh, it’s not. Oh, it’s not. Then what’s this red? What’s this red? Huh? Is it rubbery? No, no. It’s proper meat. Okay. Chicken tendon. Ah, maybe. Ah. The one from before was tasty. It’s close to gum. Gummy. But what is this chewiness? It’s chewy because it’s chicken tendon. They’ve mixed something in. This is good. But it’s kind of strange. This is the kind of thing you’d find in Luang Prabang. This Moo Krata place for 250 baht. All in all, it’s good. So, in Japanese yen, it’s probably a little over 1,000 yen. For a little over 1,000 yen, this quality is hard to find. And the Thai beer, too, uh, this is 70 baht. It’s cheap. The quality is surprisingly amazing. Kitty. But this area is probably super greasy. Wiping it doesn’t change anything. It doesn’t? This is the end, the very end. It’s really matcha-like. It looks like it. Like tea leaves. But when you eat it, it doesn’t taste like matcha. Not matcha. Then what is this green? Cilantro. Really? Isn’t it kneaded with cilantro? Really? I don’t know. I don’t know, it tasted like cilantro, but I couldn’t tell if the green taste was this or… I don’t know. I don’t know. We ate a lot. It was delicious. By the way, these matcha-like noodles. They’re pretty good. And to finish off, a pineapple smoothie. Okay, finally, let’s have the smoothie. Delicious. Even at 11 PM, it’s like this. They close at midnight, but there are still so many people. Amazing. We’ve finished eating. Thanks for the meal. We ended up staying for over 3 hours. It was delicious. The 4.9 rating is no joke. That’s the rating. Definitely. Alright. Huh? This is seriously local. And so, the first day in Chiang Mai, is now over. After several years, I returned to Chiang Mai, Thailand. I revisited the places I went to last time, and once again, I was reminded of what a wonderful place Chiang Mai is. That’s what I felt today. It was a great day. And, my first trip abroad with my friend in a year starts from today. I’m excited to see what kind of trip it will be. So, thank you for watching.
