【まじか】ラオスの世界一何もない首都ヴィエンチャンはこんな感じです

Good morning, everyone. I’m traveling in Laos again today. I’m currently in Vientiane, and I’m planning to spend the day exploring the city. I arrived yesterday. But I only had dinner yesterday and headed home. This place is said to be the most deserted capital in the world, but it doesn’t seem like there are many tourist attractions. From what I saw at the night market yesterday, it didn’t seem like there was anything that deserted. It was pretty chaotic, but still interesting . I’m actually walking around Vientiane, and there are a few tourist spots, so I’m thinking about visiting them. When I arrived yesterday, I thought the people in Laos were incredibly nice, there seemed to be a wide variety of food options, and I loved the cityscape, which I thought was amazing . Let’s spend the day exploring Vientiane again. Thank you. It ‘s hot again today. The sky is blue, the clouds are white, and the sun is shining brightly. My hotel is in the city center. I ‘ll get around using the same tuk-tuk app, KOK KOK MOVE, as I did yesterday. There are these little grooves, so you’ll want to be careful when walking at night, so be careful . There are cafes and other places along the main streets, so you can relax. The electric wires here, where the Hard Rock Cafe is located, are also impressive . They’re still as tangled as ever. The bikes here also have a certain charm. They’re bald and hanging out to dry. They’re drying. There’s nothing happening here, it ‘s just so relaxing. It’s not busy. I only walked here last night, so I’m not sure, but maybe everyone’s heading to the night market or something. It’s around noon now, and it’s quiet with few people around. Everyone’s sitting in cafes, looking out the window . I wish they’d work harder . KOK KOK is here. I think this is it. Hello. Thank you. I can see the cardboard sunshade. This is Patuxai . They had the right change, so I got here with 30,000 kip. Here I am. This is the gate that everyone in Vientiane, Laos, says they’ll visit. I’ve arrived at Patuxai. When you think of Vientiane, Patuxai is the first thing that comes to mind. Patuxai is the big gate, and you can’t begin without it. The square just before this is like a park, a nice place to relax. KOK KOK is really nice, but the only downside is the heat. It’s hot when the tuk-tuk is parked, maybe even hotter than a motorbike taxi. There’s no ventilation at the back, so that’s pretty much the only drawback. But it’s cheaper than other LOCAs. It’s cheaper than taking a taxi. It costs about 200 yen to get here from the city center, and about 500 yen if you use a LOCA. Tourists are taking pictures. I wonder why that boy is holding something that looks like a shamisen. It’s nice. It’s cute. There’s a fountain here, but there’s no water. This is Patuxai. This is Patuxai. You know the gate in Paris? It looks just like that. Construction began in 1960 to highlight it. In Lao, “patux” means door, which means gate, and it also means victory . It also has a strong memorial meaning, as it marks the withdrawal of foreign troops from Laos in 1954. It’s said to have been modeled after the Champs-Élysées in Paris. Does that feel right? There are a lot of people lounging around. Can I go inside? There are three paintings on top. There’s a fee to go inside, and foreign tourists have to keep 30,000 yen, but this isn’t working. Shall we go up? Hey, someone’s left trash there. Who ‘s chilling here? You can climb to the top of the gate. How many floors is this? Is this the top floor? No, it looks like we’re even higher. It’s quite a climb. Damn, I’m sweating quite a bit. Everyone’s panting, it seems we’ve arrived. This is the very top. Who’s this? Is the person who threw away the tapioca here yet? I followed this tapioca that was telling me to follow it , and we arrived . We climbed up this. It really is high. It’s beautiful here. From here you can see the cityscape of Vientiane from all directions. The straight lines here are beautiful, what do you think? Look. It’s beautiful, isn’t it? The view is amazing. The city spreads out all the way, and when you look at it like this, you can see that Vientiane is thriving, with so many buildings. It was Patuxay. It’s so hot here, it’s really dangerous. It’s that guy. KOK KOK. Is this a four-seater? It’s like a big cart. There’s a ton of Chinese writing around here too. I’ve just arrived at the Naga Center in the city center. Is it a commercial facility? There’s a Wat nearby, so I came to see it . Is this the Naga Mall? The mall is bigger than I expected, there’s Chinese writing everywhere , everything is in Chinese, it really feels Chinese. There are a ton of Chinese people. There’s a Lotteria here too. It’s so beautiful. How many floors does it have? It’s about four. They even put their car inside, and it’s not moving. On the other hand, some people are climbing up. This is it. There’s a MINI SOU, an Amazon Cafe, and a food court. This looks like a great place to take a quick break. I guess I’ll buy something. The menu looks like this. I ‘ve kept my 20,000 yen, so I’ll have a chocolate sundae for about 140 yen. There are so few seats available, I’m just wandering around with the sundae in hand. There’s nowhere to go. What should I do? Where should I eat this? ?There’s no bench, the ice cream melts, and I want to eat it quickly . It’s the kind of thing you do outside. There’s no place to eat inside the restaurant , and there’s no place to eat on the street either . I have no choice but to eat in the smoking area. What’s wrong? It’s delicious. Really delicious. It’s definitely not wrong. I often eat this in various countries. Originally a Chinese restaurant, it’s recently opened in Vietnam, Thailand, and Japan, and it’s interesting how different it is in each country. Everyone’s watching me as I eat. Why am I eating ice cream in a smoking area? That’s life. People like me have no choice but to eat on the street. Anyway, I’m back to walking around town. There’s a golden horse. And a tuk-tuk that looks like a motorcycle. It’s about a six-minute walk from here to the Wat I was heading to earlier. The weather’s so nice, so sunny. Should I cross here? Go straight here . It suddenly feels like Southeast Asia. It’s so hot. We just went to the gate. I feel like I got really sunburned just from going there . I’m probably really sunburned. It’s still so hot. It’s late October, and it’s still so hot. Wow, it’s so good. So local, so local. Laos is definitely the best place for greenery. Nature is plentiful. I’m sure there’s even more nature in Luang Prabang. The greenery is so vibrant, isn’t it? We’ve arrived. This is Wat Si Muang. There are so many birds being captured here. Isn’t that a high density of birds? Let’s go inside. This is Wat Si Muang. This temple is said to be the most popular among women in Laos and the most beautiful. The reason is that when King Setthathirat built this temple, he needed a sacrifice to offer to the gods . No one came forward, but a young pregnant woman named Si stepped forward. She offered her own life and that of her child, and Si is said to have become the town’s guardian deity. Si has become a legendary woman, and because of this, there ‘s a golden Buddha statue here, bustling with women who come here to receive rituals. There are so many gold statues like this. It’s gold here, too. It’s gold here, too. The gold construction is incredible. The gold is incredible. There’s a wat over here. The sculptures here are amazing too . Is it okay to go in? There’s no sign saying not to take videos, and everyone’s taking them. Amazing. This is Wat Si Muang. I just had a quick look, and it didn’t seem like I could take a video, so I left right away. I’d probably seen a fair bit of the tourist spots , so I thought about taking a tuk-tuk back to the center, but that didn’t seem very interesting, so I thought I’d walk. I’m going for a walk in Vientiane. I think I’ll walk back to the center. I want to feel the cityscape with my body for about 20 minutes. Like anywhere, I walk, get to know the place, and feel the earth with my feet. That’s what I think traveling is all about. I love walking. It’s scorching hot, but when I get there, I might as well get a massage nearby. There are a lot of birds crammed into cages here too. I think they put them in cages and then release them. Big bite. Big bite. So cute. I want a hut like that. At the temple, some boys are playing something like soccer. Nice. I’m walking enthusiastically, but there’s nothing there. I just keep walking along this vertical path. This is the road I was on earlier. That gate. Is that it? I’m back at Nam Phu Fountain Square. There’s nothing there. I’m shocked. There’s nothing there. It’s just a road. This is the Nam Phu Fountain Market I went to last night. It’s not a market, it’s a park. It’s hot, so there’s no one there. There are trash cans set up properly, but only plastic bottles are there . I’m back at the vertical road. It’s like this. This calm atmosphere. Should I try a Lao massage? I’m bored. I’ve had Thai massage before , but apparently there’s something called Lao massage, but it seems different. It’s close to my hotel, so I think I’ll give it a try. Is it okay? The sign is really faded. It’s in front of my hotel and it says Lao something massage, which I saw earlier. What’s tradition? But there’s no price written. I think it’s probably cheap. Are they open now? Are they open ? Which one is better? Do I have to pay in advance? 50,000 yen means 50,000 yen, so how much is it? I said yes without checking . Wait a minute. So it costs about 3,000 yen? Isn’t that expensive? I’ll keep 250,000 yen, so about 1,700 yen. These slippers are squishy. Why are they so squishy ? Where did they go? Where did they go? I’ll do it here. Yes. Okay. You want me to change into these? I changed into these. Is this okay? Can I just wait? I don’t know. I went somewhere, but I’m worried. Is it okay? I won’t get ripped off, right? I was made to wear this button-up shirt and these mysterious loose pants. I’ll try this for an hour. It started quietly , rhythmic, and now it’s over. It’s dangerous. I was asleep. Yes, it’s over now. I was asleep. I didn’t know what was different from a Thai massage. I felt it was a little softer than Thai, so I fell asleep during the first half. I turned over, and then when I woke up, I was being kicked in the ass, which woke me up. About 1,700 yen for an hour. I think I kept 1.5 million yen . I’m still not used to keeping it, so it’s hard to say, but it was 1,700 yen. If you think about it, it’s not that cheap. It’s about 1,500 yen in Thailand, but getting an hour’s massage for around 1,000 yen is nice . I didn’t give a tip or anything. My massage is over, but what should I do? It would be a waste to just stay at the hotel if there’s nothing to do. I only have one day in Vientiane, so I think I’ll walk around the city a bit more. It doesn’t matter if I don’t have anything, I just want to walk around and get tired . It’s a Korean Seoul massage. There are a lot of Korean people, after all. There are a lot of Korean people, but not a single Japanese person . What’s with this cute bench? There are no Japanese people at all. Maybe it’s because there are no direct flights, or you need to make a layover. Maybe there are direct flights from Seoul. Maybe there aren’t any from Japan. Most places require a layover in Vietnam or Korea or Thailand, which takes a long time. If you only have the weekend off, it’s the weekend. So even if I leave on Friday night, if I have to spend a day connecting, I lose a day before and after, and there’s nothing I can do, so please Fukuoka Airport. Please increase the number of flights. And there’s no one walking around. Even when I walk, there are hardly any pedestrians, everyone gets around by motorbike or tuk-tuk. It’s always like this, with some nice restaurants, but the cityscape is always like this. Izakaya Izakaya Masa. I was walking when a follower happened to call out to me . I was just wandering around, wondering what to do. I asked, and they said there’s nothing in Vientiane. They said if I want to go somewhere more remote, there are prostitution spots . I’m like, “I heard that!” It was on the news a while ago, wasn’t it? It was in Vientiane. A Japanese man was arrested for prostituting an underage girl in Laos, and apparently it was in Vientiane. Apparently that spot is in Vientiane, and the person tried it out. They said it really existed. I don’t really want to go there. Simply put, I just can’t forgive it. It’s probably my own thoughts when I see it, but I think it probably makes me negative. When I see things like that, I don’t know if it’s a problem I can do anything about, so I go to see it, only to come back disappointed. It’s wrong to go there , but apparently, these things exist . What’s going on? I don’t know. They probably won’t go away. It’s illegal, and even though it’s on the news, they don’t go away. I think there must be some hidden forces at work. I think there must be people behind the scenes who the police can’t do anything about, or some kind of boss. So I don’t think they can simply stop it because it’s not good. Streets like this go on and on. There are all kinds of international restaurants and barbershops and massage parlors. Korean food, right? It’s all this stuff. We’re along this river. There’s a night market over here . On the other side of the night market is the river. I wonder if it’s the Mekong? Let’s go over there and observe the river from there . Here we are. The Mekong. This is yesterday’s chaotic amusement park, and on the other side is the Mekong . There’s a lot of grass growing. Amazing. Everyone’s waiting for the sunset. Taking pictures of the sunset sinking into the Mekong would be nice. As I said before, I heard there was a delicious noodle shop in this area where you can feel close to nature, so I came here . It’s called Handsome or something. Is this the one? Since it’s crowded, it seems like this is the place to eat local Lao food. I read that it’s good, so I thought I’d give it a go. Is it something you can eat alone? This place has a really strong local feel, how should I put it, I came alone. I don’t know which one is the staff member. There are so many menu items . I received noodle spring rolls, but are they half-size? I’ll just eat the spring rolls first. They’re delicious. There’s a lot of coriander in them, and they have egg and various vegetables inside. They also have something like noodles inside, so they ‘re refreshing and delicious. The sauce is good. There’s a lot. This is all I need. The portion is large. It comes with these vegetables, like pho. I’ll throw this in here and have some noodles. Pho is so delicious. Is this beef? Delicious. This soup is also very light and heartwarming. But is this pho, right? I think there’s a prostitution problem. I’ve said this before, but going to Thailand means you’re there for that kind of thing. Because of these old men, there may still be young guys who go there for that purpose, but I’m not one of them, so I want to spread the word that Thailand’s charm is different. It’s annoying that people like that are looking at us because of these old men . These people really need to be cracked down on. There are definitely a lot of old men who think they won’t get caught because they’re overseas, so crack them all down. Let’s name and punish all lolicons. A while back, there was a case where a school principal was running a ton of prostitution in a certain country, and the village would be in trouble if the principal disappeared. Ultimately, if that supply and demand were to disappear, there would be people who would be in trouble, people who couldn’t make a living . So it’s not a simple matter of eliminating it; it’s a more fundamental issue that affects people’s lives, so it’s difficult. It’s not something an individual can do anything about. My total was 103,000 yen, about 700 yen. I found a delicious-looking food stall. I tried something. The color is amazing. I’ll order this. The color is amazing. I got the one with the most amazing color. It’s super thick. What is this? But it’s not 100% sweet potato. It tastes like purple sweet potato and lychee. It’s just delicious. It’s like a sweet potato version of Thai tea. It’s 25 yen, so it was about 170 yen. It was delicious, but if I spilled it, it would be a disaster . I got diarrhea. My stomach hurt so much that I stayed in the hotel. I don’t know why, maybe it’s the ice I drank earlier, or maybe it’s the ice from the meal I ate, but I don’t know why I have diarrhea. I’m a little sick right now . Sorry for the sudden sting, but I don’t want it to get worse. I can’t move. My stomach hurts so much I can’t move. I’ll call it a day for today. Tomorrow, I’ll head to Vang Vieng by minivan and take some photos there too. I’ll be touring Vang Vieng and Luang Prabang. The people on the tour today said that you can really get a feel for Laos there . Apparently there’s plenty to photograph in Vang Vieng. There’s plenty to do, so they recommended renting a motorbike. I got used to Laos in Vientiane, so it was a good first stop. What did you think of Vientiane, the capital city with nothing to do? You might think there wasn’t much to do. That can’t be helped. But when I say there’s nothing to do, it ‘s just that there are few tourist spots like the night market. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes, so it’s perfectly fine to just laze around during the day and laze around at night . Rather than doing a lot of sightseeing, I just laze around and laze around. I think it was a really great city. I’ll continue my Laos trip for a while, so please check it out . I’m going to relax and sleep. Please check out my Instagram so that I don’t get another episode of endless diarrhea. Well, I slept for a while and my stomach got better.
