【🇰🇭カンボジア旅④】トンレサップ湖ツアー 村全体が水没!? 雨季の水上集落に衝撃 子どもは家の前で水泳や釣り…Kampong Phluk Floating Village & Tonlé Sap

B-Journey Southeast Asia’s largest lake, Tonlé Sap How many times larger than Lake Biwa in Japan? Afternoon of the 4th day of the Cambodia trip. Mid-October 2025, just past 3 PM. Currently in Siem Reap, Cambodia. When you say Siem Reap, it’s the city with Angkor Wat, However nearby is Southeast Asia’s largest lake, Tonlé Sap.
We joined a tour for two people costing $23, but found out this tour does not include the boat fee. We are now going to a floating village called Kampong Phluk. Check the details of cheap tours! 😅 Incidentally, tours that include everything cost about $20 per person for group tours. Is the boat pier close? There was a market. Are there people who buy clothes sold by the roadside? I thought the boat pier was close, but the tuk-tuk kept going, advancing through an area that looked like either a lake or wetlands. It seems we’ve finally arrived at the destination. The tour we joined doesn’t include the boat fee, so we buy tickets here. The boat fee is $22 per person. I thought we would buy tickets and board the boat here, but we head to the boat pier again by tuk-tuk. Lots of boats are lined up. We are instructed which boat to board here. So we’re boarding this madam’s boat. It’s a completely chartered boat. Now, we depart to see the floating village. There are big boats too, huh. Maybe for group tours? After going for a while, an unbelievable scene. Houses flooded as if in a flood. What’s going on? On Google Maps, we’re advancing over land. Tonlé Sap Lake changes size with the seasons, 4 times the size of Lake Biwa in the dry season, and up to 20 times the size of Lake Biwa in the rainy season. It’s the rainy season now in mid-October. Places that are land in the dry season are now a lake. We’ve come to an area where houses are gathered. This seems to be Kampong Phluk village. A scene that’s hard to believe is real. Children are rowing boats. Is it a school club activity? Thinking about it, it might be their commute to school. According to Google Maps, we’re now traveling on what is a river in the dry season. We’ve come to an area with restaurants. There’s a cat. A cat-loving friend The boat stops at a restaurant. Annyeonghaseyo. Did you come from Japan? The who says “Annyeonghaseyo” to us asks if we are Japanese. So many boats. We try a boat ride for two people costing $11. Advancing through the mangrove forest. The boat is going to hit! Watch your head! Please subscribe to my channel. How do you compare this to the Mekong River cruise in Vietnam? The Mekong was interesting in its own way, but this is nice too. The sunset is sparkling. I thought the boat would just go around the area, but after this, we head to an unexpected place. The boat has entered the village What’s this? Is it like a town entrance gate? This is amazing. In the videos I saw on YouTube, there were rows of stilt houses. Now the water level is very high. There’s a temple in the distance. Looking at Google Maps, this is land in the dry season. Looking at Street View, people are walking on the ground, it’s hard to believe the current situation of floating on water. That mysterious object at the village entrance was also visible in Street View. Children are swimming in front of their house. It seems their feet don’t touch the ground. There are also children fishing(?). They keep a dog in a place like this. There are even chicken. A teacher is teaching children. Is it an elementary school? 900 households, 3700 people live here (2019). Besides fishing, residents also do agriculture in the dry season. I heard that tourism has also become popular in recent years. A few days later, looking down at Tonlé Sap Lake from the plane, I could see several floating villages. The number of residents in floating settlements across the entire Tonlé Sap Lake
seems to be tens of thousands. House wives finished with their boat work? Does this lady also live around here? We returned to the restaurant. Thank you for your hard work. It was a shocking village. Inside the building, there are restaurant and souvenir shop. We were asked if we wanted to see crocodiles. The boat heads to the “main” part of Tonlé Sap Lake. This is land. Tonlé Sap Lake is huge. Tonlé Sap Lake is the largest in Southeast Asia, even in the dry season it’s 4 times the size of Lake Biwa in Japan. Unfortunately, we couldn’t see the sunset. If this were the sunset, it would be amazing. The tour ends here. The red roof visible on the left is the village temple. The floating village was a mysterious place. Finally, the sky turned a little red. In the next video, we will walk the night streets of Siem Reap, the city of Angkor Wat, and report on the latest situation. Please subscribe to my channel.
