Nanki Shirahama Nagaminoyu Kachoufugetsu Hello! This is Hozuki. This travelogue is about my trip to Wakayama (3 days and 2 nights)! This time, I’m introducing “Nanki Shirahama Nagaminoyu Kachoufugetsu” in Shirahama Town, Wakayama Prefecture, where I stayed for the second night! *The first night was spent at “Toretore Village”! Shirahama Town, Wakayama Prefecture, where Kachoufugetsu is located, is just over two hours by car from Osaka. By train, it’s about two and a half hours from Osaka to JR Shirahama Station. There’s a free shuttle from Shirahama Station (reservations required) . Kachoufugetsu is a recommended inn with hospitality that will make you want to return! The lounge, which you can use right away, has a wide selection of items ! And the rooms are clean and have all-you-can-drink drinks! And best of all, there’s a hot spring in the room! An open-air bath! The beer while soaking in the hot spring is delicious! And dinner was absolutely top-notch! The appetizers were fantastic, and we even got to enjoy some beer brought in by the chef! We had grilled abalone and thick-sliced Kumano beef shabu-shabu! The sashimi and dessert were both delicious! The Wakayama ramen we had for dinner was also amazing! Every single dish at breakfast was delicious! The teppanyaki, sashimi, and Kumano beef simmered in soy sauce were all delicious! Prices start from around 18,000 yen per person, depending on the date and plan! (One night, two meals: as of September 2025) This time, I hope to share the charms of Nanki Shirahama Nagaminoyu Kacho Fugetsu, Wakayama Prefecture, and Shirahama Town. Thank you for your continued support! We checked out of Toretore Village, where we stayed the night before! It was a very cute and fun inn! We had a little time, so we decided to visit the Minakata Kumagusu Memorial Museum, near the Shirahama Aquarium ! It seems to be located on top of Mount Bansho! There seems to be a lighthouse and other attractions, so we’ll check them out! The first parking lot was empty, so we started there. First, we headed to the Minakata Kumagusu Memorial Museum! It was a tough climb (the Sagawa staff were running briskly), but we arrived in about 5 minutes! (It was quite a steep climb.) Minakata Kumagusu was a natural history scholar born in Wakayama Prefecture! He was a “giant of knowledge” who also devoted himself to protecting the local environment. On the right, you can see the world’s longest Minakata Kumagusu resume! And the view outside is amazing! (I’ll climb up later.) In the main building, you can learn about Minakata Kumagusu’s life. (If you’re interested, please do!) And if you climb even higher… there’s a rooftop observation deck with a panoramic view of Tanabe Bay and Shikoku ! Wow, the ocean is so blue and beautiful! What beautiful weather! You can even see Taipei! …and even Kashima Island, a national natural monument that’s hard to see (1,642 km away),! …I couldn’t figure out which island it was… but the ocean was beautiful, so I was glad! Next, let’s go to the lighthouse! It’s a tunnel of trees! It looks wonderful. The lighthouse comes into view, but there’s something intriguing… a mother and baby boar! If it were real, it would be scary, but this is cute. This Banshohana Lighthouse is still in use! It appears to have been there since 1955! There’s also an observation deck near the lighthouse, and the view from there is amazing! There are still so many hidden parts of Shirahama, which is fun! I saw a bell, so I tried ringing it! My partner was buzzing it like crazy lol. We still had a little time, so we went to a roadside station I’d been wanting to visit! This is the roadside station, “Tsubakihana no Yu”! This roadside station hot spring was ranked number one on Matsuko’s Unknown World! It’s surprisingly alkaline at pH 9.9, and the water is like soap! Let’s enjoy it! This hot spring has a strong alkaline pH of 9.9, and the water is thick and creamy! It’s the thickest I’ve ever experienced! There’s also a bath with water directly from the source (32 degrees Celsius), and it’s especially great to soak in after warming up! There’s also an open-air bath, sauna, and family bath, so we were able to enjoy the wonderful water to our heart’s content! After the bath, we went to Toretore Market! The famous Usukawa Manju is good, but… this time I think I’ll try fruit daifuku! Then we headed to Kachoufugetsu! Oh, there’s Hotel Kawakyu on the right! It’s a castle as always! It’s a very residential area, so I wonder if it’s really here…? We arrived from Toretore Market in about 10 minutes! This is Nanki Shirahama Nagaminoyu Kachoufugetsu! A new and beautiful inn that opened in 2022! All rooms at this inn have natural hot springs! Amazing! Now we headed to check in! The front desk was also lovely! Thank you for your help! We checked in at a lovely counter! Then we went further in and into the lounge! Wow, they have cereals like cornflakes. You can have this with milk or coffee milk! They also have barley juice for adults! (15:00-18:00) They also have Perrier, wine, mandarin orange juice, and plum juice. These are available any time, and they’re very high-quality juices! Lol. Wine and Perrier are all-you-can-drink, and the hospitality is excellent! Plus, there’s a huge selection of snacks! What’s with that amount! Delicious individually wrapped sweets are lined up. So fun! Plus, there’s all-you-can-eat ice cream! This is… great! And there’s an amenity bar. It’s well stocked! They have toothbrushes, hairbrushes, cotton balls, and more, as well as cleansing gel and moisturizing shampoo! Apparently, they even give you scrunchies! They also have a children’s amenity set. So cute. They also have basket bags for yukata! You can choose a colorful yukata! And there’s the regular obi, as well as the obi for the colored yukata. They even give you a drawstring bag! What a treat! Now, let’s enjoy the lounge! A seat by the window. From our seat, we could see Hotel Kawakyu! A castle! Since we were there, we decided to go out to the terrace. So pleasant! Greenery, the sea, and the castle. What a beautiful view! Now, let’s have a beer! It’s open until 6pm, so we need to drink as much as we can! Lol. A beer with a beautiful view! Mmm, it’s the best! Let’s toast with my partner! So… a toast . Ah, beer after the hot spring! So delicious! A rather unfashionable edamame snack! (My partner’s choice) The edamame has a strong flavor and is delicious! I love this! It goes really well with beer! I also had coffee milk! (And beer too) And finally, plum juice mixed with Perrier! It was so refreshing and delicious! Before going to my room, I explored! This is the shop! They have a wide selection of panda goods! Pandas and mandarin oranges. They also have a wide selection of umeboshi plums, which are a Wakayama specialty, as well as original goods from Kachou Fuugetsu! They say they have shrimp crackers from Masakiya. Looks delicious! They even have plates and other items for sale! Now, it’s time to head to my room! It’s on the second floor, so let’s take the stairs! There’s a relaxation space on the second floor too. Great. Free complimentary drinks and a vending machine. Then I walked through the bright corridor to my room. This time, my room was called “Yuri”! The key was the old-fashioned type. Let’s go inside! Oh, there’s a hallway as soon as you enter. It’s spacious and nice! Standard Western-style room [with semi-open-air bath] Wow, it’s so spacious! And it’s lovely! The bed is spacious too! It’s nice that it’s all in one room! The TV is large, and I like the simple feel! The sofa is also spacious, so it looks like a room where you can relax! The hangers are the type that are located right at the entrance. There’s also a Sharp humidifier air purifier! There are also cups and 2 liters of water in a bucket! In the fridge… beer, sour drinks, tea, ramune soda, and juice are all free! There was also insect repellent, which is great for summer. There were cups and cups on the upper level. There were also chopsticks, which were super convenient! And the view… (I went outside) was full of greenery. It looked like a relaxing and soothing place. Next, the bathroom. The bathroom was spacious and clean! It was low, making it super easy to use! And the cosmetics were Sekkisei! Luxurious. Towels were also provided. The hair dryer was also large (it was made by Nobby). And there was a list of hot spring ingredients posted, which meant… yes, you can enjoy a hot spring in your room! Whoosh! A semi-open-air bath with a view outside! Great! The water was a bicarbonate spring, with gentle, gentle water. The best! Next was the toilet. It was a beautiful washlet-type toilet. Wow, this room was really spacious and nice. The bed was also nice and very comfortable! And the bath! I was looking forward to it! So, I enjoyed my bath right away! It felt great! Just turn the faucet and the hot spring water came out! What a wonderful inn. Since we’re here, let’s have some hot spring chuhai! Drinking alcohol in a hot spring is the best! (Be careful not to drink too much) After a short rest in our room… let’s go for a drink before dinner! Haha , beer is so good. So… let’s toast! Beer after a bath is delicious! I’m looking forward to dinner too! Hotel Kawakyu stands out in the sunset. It ‘s beautiful. Thank you for the meal! The beer was delicious! We were greeted after we finished! It’s dinner time! The venue is separated by a curtain, giving it just the right amount of privacy! Food with a menu always gets me excited! And when I removed the lid… there were flowers! So lovely! After enjoying the hospitality, the next stage is the food! And the third stage is also food. I’m so excited! This time we’re having the “Kacho Fuugetsu Kuzushi Kaiseki” course! Starting with the appetizer of “Treasure Box of Flowers ,” we have a satisfying course that includes sashimi, abalone, Kumano beef, and even fried food! From the top left, there’s unagi (white-grilled eel), Schindler’s smoked prosciutto, and wood ear mushrooms with sesame vinegar and herring roe in a delicious dashi broth. Here are some homemade konjac, pufferfish marinated in kelp, flounder in sesame oil, and white fish marinated in nanban sauce! And a gift from the chef! We were given Nagisa beer and non-alcoholic beer! Yay! They poured us some Nagisa beer. Thank you! Apparently we’ll get a photo book to put the menu in! This will be a great memento of our trip! We toasted while looking at the flowers. Ah, Nagisa beer is delicious, as always! I love it! It’s nice to be able to get it for free! Veggie first? Then we had wood ear mushrooms! The thick wood ear mushrooms and sesame vinegar were refreshing and delicious! Herring roe in a delicious dashi broth! So good! Something different from usual! Unagi (white-grilled eel)! This would go well with sake! The wasabi and soy sauce made it light and delicious! The deliciousness of the eel! Schindler’s smoked prosciutto, made in the mountains of the Kumano Kodo! It’s so fresh and has an amazing smoky aroma! Delicious! It pairs so well with Nagisa beer, it’s just amazing! Homemade konjac by Kachou Fuugetsu! It has a great texture! And flounder in sesame oil. It even has the fin part! This was really tasty! The umami of kelp, flounder, and sesame! Nanbanzuke white fish. It’s so sour and delicious! And kelp-cured pufferfish topped with gold leaf! Gorgeous! The elasticity of the pufferfish and the umami of the kelp make this really delicious! Next up… we have the dancing grilled abalone! The abalone dances when you pour sake over it! …Hmm? …Silent abalone… My partner’s abalone was spinning around! We turn on the heat and steam it for a while! Wow. When it starts to steam nicely, they’ll put butter on top! It’s almost ready… Open! It looks so delicious! Great! Now we’re putting the butter on! It’ll be delicious♪ I’ll put some butter on mine too… put some on…? ? I’m frantically putting it on, ignoring the camera! Lol, I managed to get it on… It’ll be delicious♪ And then the sashimi arrived! It looks so pretty and fresh! There’s a whole lot of it – tuna, amberjack, shrimp, squid, flounder! Super fresh amberjack! This looks delicious! It has a bouncy texture and the flavor is amazing! Delicious! And the tuna! The color is so beautiful! The chewy texture and flavor! This is also good! And the flounder! It looks like it has caviar on it! The light meat is topped with the flavor of the caviar, which is amazing! It was so delicious that I ordered another beer! My partner also ordered a plum sour! Another toast! Delicious food and delicious alcohol. Happiness. Sashimi again! And this is squid! It’s gorgeous with flowers on top, and the fresh squid is delicious! It’s seaweed solidified with gelatin. It’s beautiful and crunchy! Apparently it’s delicious when you add shiso leaves to the soy sauce! The refreshing aroma goes well with sashimi! Delicious! And the abalone is steamed! Wow! The staff will remove it for you! Another treat! The meat and liver were neatly separated! It’s sad that I can’t convey the aroma. It smells amazing! The texture is soft and it’s a treasure trove of umami! You can also smell the butter! The liver is a little bitter, but even more so, with its deliciousness! The mushrooms that have absorbed the umami are also amazing… I’m so happy. I think I’ll have some raw shrimp to change things up a bit! They’re bouncy and sweet! This inn is so delicious. Abalone again! I’ll add lemon. This time it’s refreshing and delicious! The acidity and umami just… make you want to drink more! (I got a little from my partner. It’s delicious.) And then, some amazing meat arrived!! It’s A5-rank Kumano beef! It looks so delicious! We’re going to have it as shabu-shabu! Slurp. The ponzu sauce is also packed with green onions, so I’m really looking forward to it! I control my excitement and start by adding the vegetables. The next dish has arrived! Deep-fried spring rolls with shrimp and maruju (sweet potato) ! Freshly fried and piping hot! I have to eat these right away! Shishito peppers are also good (sometimes they’re spicy, but they can be a hit) , and the deep-fried spring rolls are overflowing with shrimp! So delicious! The broth is boiling, so I think I’ll have shabu-shabu! I’ll start with the delicious part and splurge! Shabu-shabu~♪ (fun) Wow, the best meat is ready! Melting fat, red meat bursting with umami… winner… Combined with the rice that was brought earlier, it’s amazing! Oh, and the soup has arrived too. Yay! Let’s reset with the cucumber, then we’ll shabu-shabu the next piece of meat~♪ Looks delicious, doesn’t it? It’s delicious! The meat is not too fatty and is a little light! The soup is ready! It’s clam soup! It has a very gentle flavor. The broth is good… even the meat is delicious. Everything is a little too good! Finally, we’ll finish off with some delicious meat! ( I like to save the best for last) Dessert has arrived! It looks delicious all the way to the end! Melon, sorbet, cake, Shine Muscat, and finally tea! I think I’ll finish off like this! Delicious melon. So sweet. Berry sorbet! So refreshing! This year’s Shine Muscat is so sweet! The chocolate cake is rich and delicious too! We finished off with a touch of elegance and tea. Delicious. Phew. I was full and it was a really delicious dinner! I’m very satisfied. Thank you for the meal! Finally, we received the menu and headed home. A nice keepsake. After a short rest in our room… we enjoyed a beer in the hot spring in our room! It’s great that they have a bucket for drinking from the hot spring! *The only downside is that you need two on top to balance it properly lol The hot spring beer was really good! After the bath, we took a short rest…and apparently they have a midnight snack, so we have to go and eat! In the lounge we can have… Ramen! This is fun! But I think we’ll just get one for two people. Making ramen is so much fun♪ (Photographer: My partner) We put the noodles in the bowl! (Didn’t get a photo lol) It’s Wakayama ramen! The soup looks delicious (nice aroma) and we’ll eat it with green onions, bamboo shoots, and an egg! This is perfect for a midnight snack! And a sense of guilt! Wow, it’s great to be able to eat this at night! We shared the egg in half too! (Did we?) It was very delicious ramen! Thank you for the late-night snack! We also started drinking in the room! Lol. They poured me some Arita mandarin chuhai, which was free from the fridge … and then… let’s toast ! Ah, the mandarins are delicious! And so refreshing! This is Shine Muscat Daifuku (¥280)! It’s delicious with a whole Muscat inside ! Whew. I had another delicious meal today! That’s all for today. Good night! Good morning! It’s a lovely morning! It’s a bit cloudy, but it looks like it’s going to be a good day! First, I went to the open-air bath in my room! I used it quite often while I was in the room! It was great! After the bath, it was time for breakfast! Woo hoo hoo! The breakfast area was the same as last night. It was bright and nice ! Ah, there was a menu again this morning! I’m so happy. There are already some delicious looking dishes set out! This set is so pretty! It seems they also have a half buffet, so I’ll go for a bit! Bread! Croissant, orange Danish, and germ roll. This is a salad! It looks so fresh! The dressing was orange, plum, green shiso, and sesame. It looks like they also have yogurt and eggs! The eggs are blue sky eggs from Wakayama! Great! The yogurt is individually wrapped, which is nice! Cracking an egg. Stylish. This is Kachou Fuugetsu’s breakfast set! It looks delicious! We added salad and eggs! From the top left: soft-boiled egg, sashimi, mandarin orange jelly, kobai pickled vegetables, Kumano beef simmered in soy sauce, Kishu Kinzanji miso, green laver, mentaiko, kamaboko, mibuna greens, and pickled plums! And salad with plum dressing! The rice and miso soup look delicious too. And blue sky eggs. The yolk is so pretty! And teppanyaki! Salt-grilled salmon, sausages, eggs, and vegetables! A really luxurious and healthy breakfast! Let’s eat! First, veggies first! The vegetables are fresh, and the plum makes it deliciously sour! The kobai pickled vegetables are also refreshing with the plum! Delicious. It has a great kamaboko flavor! It’s bouncy and chewy. This Kumano beef stew is so delicious! What is this?! It goes so well with rice! I love it! And fresh sashimi for breakfast… wow! First up, scallops! Sweet! Umami! Delicious! A little miso soup to reset. This also has a great dashi flavor. Kinzanji miso! Of course… it goes well with rice! Delicious. And the onsen egg! Rich and umami. And the mentaiko, of course… it goes well with rice! Delicious! (The rice is disappearing so quickly.) The teppanyaki is cooked just right! I serve it on a plate and check it out. Yes, it looks delicious. The broccoli is also nice and warm. Delicious! The bacon has a delicious fat from being warmed up! Delicious! The rolled omelet is soft and delicious, so delicious. And the salmon! This salmon is amazing! Delicious! It just keeps eating the rice! (There’s a rice container so you can have seconds.) Let’s try the sashimi too! The tuna was delicious. The sausage was bouncy and chewy, with a delicious meaty flavor! And to cleanse the palate, we had umeboshi plums. They were incredibly tasty! There was even salmon roe on top! I was so happy. This was also really delicious. I was so satisfied right from the start of the morning. Now, it’s time for the long-awaited Aozora Eggs! Mix them all together♪ (←fun) I poured it over the rice, which I’ve had seconds of! Everyone can tell how delicious it is…the best! It’s also really delicious with green laver on top! I love this too! My partner got an orange Danish! This was also really delicious! It’s great! Finally, we had Wakayama mandarin jelly. Refreshing, sweet, and delightful. They even gave us coffee at the end! Phew. What a delicious breakfast! We ate everything at Kachou Fuugetsu and enjoyed it! Thank you for the meal! I think I’ll have some mandarin juice in the lounge to finish off the meal. It was a really great inn, and my partner and I both agreed that we want to come back! We relaxed while looking at the beautiful scenery… and finally enjoyed a Ramune drink after the bath! Now it’s time to depart! Nanki Shirahama Nagaminoyu Kachofugetsu was a wonderful inn! The price was 18,556 yen per person including discounts! (Price after points and coupons are taken into account.) With the wonderful hospitality, lounge, delicious food, and an open-air bath in the room, this price is highly recommended! We were very satisfied with both the food and the hot springs, and it looks like we’ll be staying here again! We even received plum pretzels as a souvenir! Kachofugetsu is a recommended inn with hospitality that will make you want to come back ! The lounge, which you can use right after you arrive, has a wide selection of items! And the rooms are clean and have all-you-can-drink drinks! And best of all, there’s a hot spring in the room! The open-air bath! The beer while soaking in the hot spring is delicious! And dinner was incredibly top-notch! The appetizers were great, and we even got to enjoy some beer brought in by the chef! Grilled abalone and thickly sliced Kumano beef shabu-shabu! The sashimi and dessert were both delicious! The Wakayama ramen served as a late-night snack was also great! Every single dish at breakfast was delicious! The teppanyaki, sashimi, and Kumano beef simmered in soy sauce were all delicious! *Food, drinks, service, prices, etc. change depending on the season, so please check the official website for the latest information.
