Pink clouds stretch like sugar. Footsteps kiss the powdered sand. The ocean hums a song. It knows a rhythm. Only the moonlight shows. Palm trees whisper secrets know. Do they see where I will go? Running with the setting sun. Chasing trees away in time. Another full moon. Yeah. Missed it. Okay. Lands and lights float up like fireflies. Echoes of laughter paint the skies. Salt on my skin, the breeze so sweet. A melody follows every heartbeat. Stars align like guiding hands. This moment slips like shifting sand. Running with the setting sun. This year’s Iheya Moonlight Marathon was pure magic — we witnessed the sun sinking into the East China Sea while running along the island’s west coast. The course was mostly flat, but the bridge crossing to Noho Island was deceptively tough with the head wind kicking in for the return journey. The miles increased from a half marathon to 24 km this year adding to the challenge.
It was an unforgettable weekend — surrounded by kind-hearted locals, warm hospitality, and the peaceful beauty of island life. Forever grateful for this experience, and I hope to return to run again in the future.
