ここは、青森県・津軽半島の最北端に立つ龍飛崎。
西に日本海、北に津軽海峡、東に陸奥湾――三方を海に抱かれた岬です。
先端は切り立った断崖で、眼下には荒波が絶えず寄せては返し、晴れた日には遠く北海道の山並みまで望むことができます。
しかし、この岬では朝方に霧が発生することも多く、この日も海はすっぽりと雲海に覆われていました。
日本海も津軽海峡も陸奥湾も、その姿を隠し、霧の下が海だとは信じがたいほど。まるで別世界に迷い込んだような光景でした。
こんな景色を目の当たりにすると、あらためて日本の広さと多様さを感じます。
海霧が海面を覆い尽くす光景――その圧倒的な自然の息づかいに、ただ立ち尽くすばかりでした。
津軽半島の果て、龍飛崎で迎えた、静かな朝のひとときです。

Here stands Cape Tappi, at the northernmost tip of the Tsugaru Peninsula in Aomori Prefecture.
To the west lies the Sea of Japan, to the north the Tsugaru Strait, and to the east Mutsu Bay — a cape embraced on three sides by the sea.
At its edge, sheer cliffs drop steeply into the waves below, and on clear days, one can even see the distant mountains of Hokkaido across the water.
But in the early mornings, fog often drifts in from the sea.
On this day too, both the Japan Sea and the Tsugaru Strait — even Mutsu Bay — were hidden beneath a vast sea of mist.
It was hard to believe that there was ocean beneath that white expanse, as if I were gazing into another world entirely.
Moments like this remind me how vast Japan truly is.
I’ve seen sea fog before in Hokkaido, but never one that swallowed the entire horizon.
Standing here, above the drifting clouds of the sea, I could only marvel at the quiet, boundless breath of nature.
