Hello, I’m Shie. This time, we will introduce 8 recommended souvenirs that you should definitely buy when you go to Fukui. We hope this will be helpful to you when you visit. The first product we would like to introduce is “Habutae Kurumi” (840 yen for 6 pieces). It was developed by the previous craftsmen at Kinkado Hayakawa, a long-established Japanese and Western confectionery shop, as the ultimate one-of-a-kind item. Aiming to be a walnut confectionery that you won’t find at other stores, this confectionery is made by sandwiching habutae mochi with choux pastry. Inside are Japanese walnuts that are candied and boiled facing the Shibukawa River. When you cut it in half, the cross section looks like this. Well then, let’s eat. The habutae mochi sandwiched between buttery choux pastry is chewy, and the texture of the walnuts is also fun! It has a 5-layer structure, and it has a texture that is new to me. “Habutae Kurumi” is a fusion of Japanese sweets and Western sweets. The second item we would like to introduce is “Fukui Famous Confectionery Asuwa Sanzan” (1,404 yen for 5 pieces). This is a representative product produced by Hana Echizen, a creative Japanese and Western confectionery shop, and has been loved for over 30 years. A Japanese-Western fusion pie manju with the motif of three mountains in Fukui City: Mt. Asuwa, Mt. Hachiman, and Mt. Usakoshi. When you cut it in half, the cross section looks like this. Well then, let’s eat. Inside the 144-layer folded puff pastry with a buttery scent, there’s an elegantly sweet peeled red bean paste and custard cream in the middle. The Fukui confectionery Asuwa Sanzan was moist and flavorful. The third item we would like to introduce is the famous stone kiln baked rice cracker Satsugase (475 yen for 4 pieces). This is the signature confectionery of confectionery manufacturer Satsugase, and has been loved ever since its release in 1975. The dough is baked using the far infrared rays of a stone oven, impregnating the dough with peanut oil. When you cut it open, the cross section looks like this. Well then, let’s eat. It has a crunchy texture and contains lots of peanuts. It is slightly sweet and satisfying to eat. The classic stone kiln-baked rice cracker Satsugase had a rustic and nostalgic feel to it. The fourth item we would like to introduce is the “Habutae Butter Cheese Sandwich” (2,700 yen for 5 pieces). A fusion of Japanese and Western sweets made by RUNNY CHEESE, a cheese specialty store. There are five flavors: butter, pistachio, strawberry, chocolate, and Mont Blanc. Habutae mochi uses mochi from Muranaka Kansendo, a long-established store that has been in business for 110 years. When you cut it in half, the cross section looks like this. Well then, let’s eat. This cheese cookie is sandwiched between habutae mochi, special bean paste made by Oto Anko, which has a history of 75 years, and soft butter cream. The “Habutae Butter Cheese Sandwich” was very satisfying in both taste and colorful appearance. The fifth item we would like to introduce is “Karaage Senbei” (50g, 896 yen). This is the signature product of Echizen Kaisen Club, a seafood rice cracker specialty store, and is a rice cracker made from raw seafood. It is made by dipping it in a secret sauce and grilling it. When you cut it open, the cross section looks like this. Well then, let’s eat. The texture is very crispy. A whole octopus is sandwiched and grilled, and the flavor of octopus spreads in your mouth. It was a fried rice cracker that was so flavorful and crispy that you couldn’t stop eating it. The sixth product we would like to introduce is “Egawa no Mizu Yokan” (medium size 480 yen). This is a traditional confectionery made by Egawa, a long-established Japanese confectionery store founded in 1937, and is a limited edition item available only in winter. In Fukui, it is a popular winter sweet. The cross section looks like this. Well then, let’s eat. The smooth texture of the strained bean paste is made with special brown sugar from Okinawa prefecture as a secret ingredient, giving it a rich yet refreshing taste. The “Egawa Mizu Yokan” has an elegant sweetness that you will never get tired of. The seventh product we would like to introduce is “Fuku no Oto” (530 yen for 3 pieces). It is a signature product of the long-established Japanese confectionery shop Okashizushi Amatoya, and is a lucky confectionery with a history of over 30 years. The name was inspired by the sound of shrine bells reaching the gods, and was a combination of Fukui and “Fuku”, which means happiness. When you cut it in half, the cross section looks like this. Well then, let’s eat. A soft and thick habutae mochi is sandwiched between moist castella dough. It also contains walnuts, so you can enjoy the texture. It was a gentle and sweet “Sound of Fortune” that was a fusion of Japanese and Western styles. The eighth item we would like to introduce is “Habutae Mochi” (972 yen for 6 bags). Habutae mochi, Fukui’s most famous confectionery, is known to have originated from Habutae Mochi Sohonpo Matsuokaken, a long-established store founded in 1897. The ingredients are only glutinous flour, sugar, and starch syrup, and the ingredients are carefully made without adding any additives. When you cut it in half, the cross section looks like this. Well then, let’s eat. It has a silky smooth texture and a very soft texture. It will melt in your mouth. It has an elegant sweetness that conveys the taste of the ingredients. The “Habutae Mochi” was pure white, beautiful, and full of kindness. These are Fukui souvenirs. Thank you for your high rating and channel registration. Well then, thank you for watching.
