This is NOT a promotional video. I pay for all of my flights and hotels (and I always tell you how much!) so I can be as honest and impartial as possible. I do not receive any special treatment that wouldn’t otherwise be publicly accessible, in fact, the hotels and airlines have no idea about my visit and that’s the way I like it!

It is so sad to see that you mentioned JNB's largest airline is Airlink now (good for Airlink though). Before moving out of South Africa I used to do plane spotting there every other weekend.
Imagine what a CEO of the calibre of Sir Tim Clark could do with this airline! A380 flights up to London and Amsterdam?
Good review.
Love ur vids
Nice review but some of your text graphics were very busy and hard to watch unless you paused the video 😊😊
As someone who lived in South Africa in the mid nineties and flew them transatlantic many times it’s great to see them begin to make a comeback. Unfortunately the government spending money without any meaningful change is kinda par for the course in ZA.
If you knew about the safety record of the “new” SAA you wouldn’t get on board. At least x 2 recent massive accidents which could have taken many 100s of lives have tried to be swept under the carpet. One aircraft even took off KNOWING the tanks were full of water contaminated fuel. They had at least 1 flame out and only just scratched in tie Cape Town. Appalling !!
👍👍
Did someone say Skytrix? Doesn't Qatar Airways own that? 🤣
SOUTH AFRICAN AIRWASYS Is Not That Bad.Great Work
The Saa longe was open during bankruptcy as well cuz of the card holders
Only if SA wasn't hell bent on denying entry to well heeled Africans, this airline would have perhaps fared better.
Great seat selection, I love seeing the flaps coming out when landing.
Love CPT pls visit “Truth Coffee Roasting” best coffee in ZA. Scam Tracks continue misleading the public🤪🤪🤪
Short but sweet! 🎉
Thanks
Thank you so much for sharing. I couldn't stop laughing when I heard the 18 months story…..combining this one with the LH 5 stars rating due to promising a new business class product……. ha ha….ha ha ha…..ha ha ha ha….
Thank you for this review. That is the SAA I remember, often better than just "world class". The airport lounges in ZA are miles better than any lounge I have experienced in Heathrow, JFK or Frankfurt. The loos at the Slow Lounge are immaculate. So pleased to see the airline is moving in the right direction
Love the review. I watched out of order and did the 2022 trip review awards first lol. The SAA business class is so odd! That 3×2 config seems to make the aisle really narrow? I don't know if I'll ever get a chance to visit South Africa so thanks for taking us along!
The downfall of SAA is much more complex than that, and largely originated in the endless meddling of incompetent politicians, who simply do not understand how to run an airline – and it should actually have been shut down completely, before it abused the poor South African tax payer as much as it did with endless bailouts. Even now the transaction with the Takatso consortium is not complete, and if one looks at the structure of that group, it still means the government owns most of the airline – so those bailouts are not going to stop. For many South African's, myself included, who do not fly on SAA on principle because of this, the view is that it is best to simply shut it down. The people working there (if they are not on strike) will find work as the market gaps will be filled by private enterprises. Maybe Comair/British Airways, will make a return – competent, knowledgeable people there ran a good, profitable, operation until covid hit, but unlike SAA, did not get financial assistance and ended up being shut down.
JAL has 2×3 biz in some 737-800s from what I’ve seen.
