【三島ひとり旅】町の中心を流れる清らかな湧水で心のデトックス| 美味しいごはんとおしゃれなカフェ|三嶋神社

Today I’m heading to Mishima in Shizuoka Prefecture. It’s about 50 minutes by Shinkansen from Tokyo and about 2 hours by local train, so it’s easy to get to from the city center . It’s great to see Mt. Fuji! I’ve arrived. Mishima City is located at the base of the Izu Peninsula at the foot of Mt. Fuji, and is famous as the city of water, especially because of the underground water that springs from Mt. Fuji. Mishima has many tourist attractions, but this time I’m on a two-day, one-night trip to visit beautiful springs and restaurants. I also saw foreign tourists taking buses to Mishima Skywalk and Hakone. First, I went to Shirataki Park , a large municipal park called Rakujuen , just five minutes south of the station. Across the road is this cute doll dressed in costume. The water looks like tap water and is drinkable. After getting off at Mishima Station, the first place I wanted to visit was Shirataki
Park, which apparently got its name from the spring water flowing like a white waterfall. Shirataki Park is also a place of relaxation for local residents. Within the park, there are still bumpy lava rocks, making it feel even more natural. Thanks to the large trees, it must be a relaxing spot in the summer. I was surprised to see so much spring water flowing in the center of the city. 間と一緒に・・・・・・・・・ English : I was surprised as soon as I arrived. They say the sound of flowing water has a healing effect, and I already felt my heart being soothed. Mishima’s water has been selected as one of the “100 Famous Waters.” Sakuragawa River flows at the back of the park, and many ducks are bathing in the water. I took a bus from Shirataki Park to the next body of water. One of the joys of riding a bus in an unfamiliar town is that it is a joy to be shaken around by bus. I got off in front of Kakida River Spring Water Park. This park is located in Shimizu Town, next to Mishima, and was created primarily for the purpose of protecting the Kakida River. There are several points of interest within the park, but I took a short break before exploring. Next to the park are restaurants and souvenir shops lined up on the “Spring Water Road.” There was a cafe renovated from a storehouse and a restaurant specializing in tofu. I decided to have something light here. It seems that you can enjoy snacks and set meals made with Kakida River 100-Year-Old Water Tofu. Pancakes made with Kakida River 100-Year-Old Water Tofu. A healthy breakfast of pancakes. The unsweetened sauce made from a mixture of fresh cream and soy milk was the reason why the tofu was so moist… it was delicious! I hurried to the place in the park that I wanted to see the most. I went down the stairs and the second observation deck came into view. I decided to take a look too… Wow! It’s beautiful! This is a spring water spot known as the “Kakitagawa Blue Hole.” It’s apparently the remains of a water intake for a spinning company that used to be located here. Through a lens, the blue becomes even clearer, and it’s so beautiful you’re drawn in. The color of the water changes depending on the season and time of day , and it looks even more beautiful in the summer. A local told me that the place I can see in the distance is the Numazu City Water Supply Management Center. They use the water from the Kakitagawa River to supply various places. Next , I went to the first observation deck. This is the uppermost part of the Kakitagawa River. Meltwater and rainwater that falls around Mt. Fuji passes through the strata of earth, filters, and springs out. Places where water springs out are also called “wakima.” There are many springs, both large and small, and the sight of them stirring up sand and overflowing is never boring to watch. The locals who were walking around were very kind and taught me all sorts of things, making the tour many times more enjoyable than just looking. I walked along the “Yatsuhashi” walking path and then visited other sights. Secretly, I headed to this place without much expectation. (Sorry…) As I left the spring water plaza and walked through the lush trees, a bright light began to shine in the distance ! What a wonderful place ! This graceful flow is all made up of the spring water we saw earlier. The small pink flowers you can see in front of the river are Impatiens textori (fishing boat grass). The shape of the flowers resembles a fishing boat, so the combination of the flowers blooming all over the place and the spring water is wonderful and moving! The Mishima Baikamo, which only grows in clean water, is also found in the river. The pipes visible on the surface of the water are inserted into the springs. Apparently, they serve as a landmark to prevent the spread of invasive plants, as people can get caught in the springs during regular maintenance. This has become my favorite spot in the park. The Kakita River is a designated national natural monument. I once passed a volunteer here and we were chatting, and he told me that many people visit the first and second observation decks before heading home . I almost did the same, but I was captivated by the pure river view from this spot. Finally, we pay a visit to this branch shrine of Kyoto’s Kifune Shrine. Kifune Shrine, the god of water, has been enshrined here since ancient times. It’s also known as the god of matchmaking , and touching this red and white stone is said to bring good fortune in finding a partner . May you be blessed with many good relationships… I got off the bus at Mishima-Hirokoji Station on the Izu-Hakone Railway, walked through a slightly retro-style street, and arrived at a restaurant for lunch. I came to Dilettante Cafe. It’s a restaurant located along Genbei, which runs through the center of Mishima. I heard it’s a popular restaurant, so I went there without a reservation, but luckily I was able to have lunch there without a reservation. The interior, which the owner has carefully chosen, is very stylish, and there is a message asking people to minimize smartphone use so that they can enjoy their meal and conversation at their own pace. First of all, the appetizers, the names of which I couldn’t remember at all… In the front there is quiche, chicken ham with broccoli paste, salad (sorry if I’m wrong), zuppa di pesce (apparently a seafood soup), and in the back there is pork aspic (similar to jelly) with mustard sauce. All are lightly seasoned to bring out the flavor of the ingredients, but are full of flavor and very filling. “The white sauce on the fish is turnip sauce.” For the main course I chose fish: pan-fried sea bass with cream sauce underneath. The garnish was a variety of Mishima vegetables. Of course the fish, but the vegetables were also very delicious! 。 For dessert, we headed to waltz. on the third floor. Waltz is primarily a cafe, but it also hosts gallery exhibitions, events, concerts, and other events, making it a wonderful space where people gather. We had chestnut creme brulee and tea. Being on the third floor, the view is great. We started with a cute cookie. Oh… Beneath the crispy caramel was a rich, creamy pudding. The antique setting, with a slightly different atmosphere from a restaurant, was lovely. A double delight in one bite . This was a wonderful shop on the banks of the Genbei River. We took a walk along the Genbei River, which flows through the center of Mishima City. The upper reaches of the Genbei River near Rakujuen, a 5-minute walk south from Mishima Station, stretch for about 1.5 kilometers downstream to Nakago Hot Spring Pond. Apparently, in the past, domestic wastewater flowed into the river, causing the water quality to deteriorate. It’s hard to believe it has had such a past. The river is so clear and beautiful, it’s hard to believe it has had such a history. The stone paths are well maintained, so be careful not to step off the path. All of it is spring water. The water is so clear you’ll want to touch it. It’s cool and refreshing… The water temperature is about 15-16°C throughout the year. In the summer, it’s a popular playground for children. I’m envious that such a place exists in the middle of the city. It’s a must-visit spot when you come to Mishima. All you can hear is the flow of the river and the chirping of the birds. It was truly soothing and refreshing. I stopped off for a coffee after exploring the Wednesday Coffee Stand, about a 7-minute walk from Mishima Station. You can only take photos of what you have in your hand inside the store. When you enter, you can order and pay first. You can choose from several types of coffee beans. It’s a shame that we can’t show you the whole store, as it is such a lovely space. The interior is calming, with soft light streaming in through the windows. The walls are made of stylish bare concrete, and there are not many seats. We ordered the store’s standard dessert, the rare cheesecake, and a coffee made with the owner’s thoughts and attention to detail. The cheesecake, which is said to be a perfect match with coffee, is carefully strained twice, and has a smooth texture and a rich yet refreshing acidity . It was delicious! From the cafe, I walked down a back street. This area offers a glimpse of the deeper side of Mishima. This is a guesthouse renovated from a former sushi restaurant. The counter remains, and it becomes a bar at night, where you can enjoy drinks. The ivy-covered, cylindrical building that suddenly appeared is the site of the former Central Waterworks. It supplied drinking water to the area until 2003, and is still carefully preserved by local residents. My final stop today was Nakago Onsuiike Park. Access to the park is conveniently via the city loop bus, the “Seseragi-go.” It costs 200 yen (IC cards accepted ). Located at the bottom of the Genbei River, the pond offers a leisurely stroll along the footpath surrounding it. Apparently, this spot attracts a variety of waterfowl, and I even spotted some birdwatchers. My main goal was to see Mount Fuji. Despite the clouds gathering, I managed to see it. Mount Fuji, capped with snow, was incredibly beautiful. I regret not being able to capture it clearly, as I’m not very good at photography… The photos were beautiful with my iPhone. Nakago Onsuiike Park is right next to National Route 1, and the sunset seen from the footbridge was also beautiful. We had dinner at a long-established eel restaurant with a certificate of origin on display. The eel is not from Mishima, but from Miyazaki. It ‘s a well-established, famous restaurant that was founded in 1850, so expectations were high. The restaurant is spacious and has the feel of a long-established restaurant. One eel bento box costs 5,000 yen. Mishima is apparently a hotbed of eel, so I really wanted to try it, and I’m so happy. The glossy, fragrant grilled surface is irresistible . Let’s eat! The sauce is a traditional flavor that has been added to over the years. The eel is soaked in spring water for several days to remove the distinctive odor, and the cold water firms the flesh, leaving just the right amount of fat. The sauce is not too sweet, and it’s delicious, making it perfect for eating with rice! Eating out on the go is one of the greatest pleasures of traveling, so I’ll take my time to savor the flavors of this famous restaurant . Thank you for the meal! My lodging for the night is Hotel Alpha-One Mishima, conveniently located just a three-minute walk from the south exit of Mishima Station. My room faces east, so I can’t see Mt. Fuji, but I might be able to see it from the hallway windows on the higher floors. I’m sensitive to the cold, so I was worried about central air conditioning, but this heater was a lifesaver. Considering the price, I’m more than satisfied with the location, facilities, and amenities. They even have bath salts, so I’ll fill up with hot water and relax. Is it normal for a business hotel to have so many amenities? Good night… Since the hotel is a room-only option, I’ll have breakfast at a nearby cafe . I love their use of vintage rugs . This shop is known for its delicious scones, and they offer several types of breakfast. The freshly baked scones on this day were coffee and chocolate, so I chose that. I wanted to drink a lot, so I ordered a pot of tea. I also ordered a salad. It looked delicious! It came with softly whipped cream. It’s chilly today, and it’s drizzling, so I’ll warm myself up with some hot tea and start the second day of my trip. I was torn between plain tea and freshly baked tea, but I was right. There was so much chocolate! The slightly melted chocolate is sweet and elevates the simple scone , and the cream is just delicious! : I ate a hearty salad with Dressin, which had a slightly ethnic flavor, and was glad to find a delicious restaurant near the hotel… It was a very satisfying breakfast. In the light rain, I went to visit Mishima Taisha Shrine. Mishima Taisha Shrine is a prestigious shrine founded about 2,000 years ago. Two gods of the mountains and the sea are enshrined here. This is a 1,200-year-old osmanthus tree, a natural monument. When it blooms in September, its sweet fragrance is said to reach quite far. Mishima Taisha Shrine has many attractions, including numerous intricately crafted sculptures, but the rain started to pour down. I was glad that I was able to visit safely. I would like to visit again at my own pace, so I am happy that I now have a reason to visit Mishima again. The Buden Hall is currently under construction, but it is also a famous cherry blossom viewing spot, so it would be nice to visit in the spring . The last stop on my trip to Mishima was a lovely cafe. Beautiful stone pavement continues for a while… The approach to the entrance feels like heading to a traditional Japanese restaurant. I hadn’t done much research before, so I was excited. Is this really a cafe? The Japanese atmosphere is so beautiful it’s almost bewildering. We take off our shoes and are shown to our seats. We sit at this table with a partition. It feels like a luxurious tea time… Thanks to the rain, the greenery of the garden looks even more vibrant. The cafe menu is mainly focused on the food, but we chose curry . Since we also ordered dessert, we asked for a small portion of rice. The accompanying pickles were colorful and beautiful . Let’s start! The spicy aroma of the curry whets our appetite – delicious! It’s a curry with a strong spice and a slightly sour taste. The generous amount of pickled carrots served with it is topped with cumin. The roux is simmered until the ingredients lose their shape. The water glass is made of cut glass, so we try not to knock it over… The garden with swimming carp is beautiful and captivating . This building seems to have previously been a restaurant where you can enjoy kaiseki cuisine. It’s a cafe like a hideaway where adults gather . For dessert, we chose Shine Muscat tart and seasonal coffee. The sparkling Muscat grapes really get us excited . Having looked around enough, let’s start! The cream is fresh and not too sweet, bringing out the sweetness of the fruit. It’s so delicious! The few pink peppercorns on top not only look cute, but also add a nice accent to the flavor, which is surprisingly well-matched. The subtle rum scent of the sponge adds a touch of sophistication. The tableware used is all lovely and a feast for the eyes. This shop is located a little far from Mishima Station, but I’m glad I came. There are private-style seats, and the baked goods make great souvenirs. It was a bit pricey for me, but it made for a wonderful memory. The shop’s address is private, so I recommend checking out their Instagram. This shop values an elegant and relaxing atmosphere. Looking up at the green trees, which are even more vibrant after being wet from the rain, I thought, “The rain isn’t so bad after all…” My heart is filled with a sense of relief as I conclude my trip to Mishima . Thank you for watching.
