Hello, Gimhae Airport. After a battle of wits with the heat, I’m finally heading to Fukuoka. Gimhae Airport now operates on a reservation system for floors 2 through 4. I didn’t realize that and was taking my time, but I ended up in a cold sweat. Reservations are available 45 days in advance, so I’ll definitely book in advance next time. [Muji luggage and New Balance 990s, two things I look for when traveling solo] I brought these two cards with me this trip: a Mastercard and a Visa, just in case. Just in case, I was meeting a friend for lunch, so I came here to cool off a bit. They serve it in a copper cup, and it’s incredibly refreshing. – Brown sugar coffee. It’s out of style now, but the original is still the best . The coffee is generous and perfect for Koreans. My friend ordered a sashimi set. I met a friend and went to Kisuimaru for the first time in a while. Their kaisendon (seafood rice bowl) and set meals are famous, so I visit often. I was curious about the 210 yen price from Hakata to Kushida Jinja-mae Station, but I heard it was clean, so I quickly made a reservation. It’s a self-check-in place, but the staff were there to help me out. (Very friendly) Staff: (Showing the app) Do you have this? Me: No; Staff: Yes. Me: What do I get if I have this? (It was my first day, so I was struggling and failing to adapt to Japanese.) Staff: Oh, that. Check-out is free until 12 o’clock. – The regular check-out time is 11 o’clock . Staff: The regular check-out time is 11 o’clock, but it’s extended to 12 o’clock. Me: Is it okay if I (register) now? Staff: You can register as long as you register before check-out time. Me: Okay, I understand. Staff: If you don’t mind, please download it in your room. – Download the app, get a 1-hour late check-out, and earn points . – You can also earn points at other Nishitetsu Group hotels. Me: Oh, is the washing machine on the lower floor free? Staff: Oh, that. It’s paid, so there’s a fee. Staff: It’s 600 yen per use. Staff: And cleaning is done every other day during your stay. – I didn’t know in advance that they would clean every other day, so I was a little flustered. Staff: There’s no cleaning tomorrow, but I’ll hang towels and water in the room. [But I’m really thankful that they’ll take care of the trash if you leave it in front of the door.] The room I reserved didn’t allow multiple nights, so I was reassigned to a different room without a washing machine or microwave . ㅠ Still, I said okay and came in because they gave me two bottles of water and a table, so it would be perfect for a late-night snack. It’s comfortable to use alone. There’s a door between the room and the bathroom, so they’re separate. There’s a large bathroom, so there’s no bathtub, but there’s a sink and shower. And it’s nice that you can open the door slightly to ventilate. Since ventilation is possible~ It’s a 2-minute walk from the hotel to FUK COFFEE . There’s a long wait for FUK COFFEE, so I stopped by on my way out of the hotel. Me: Can I have an iced Americano? Staff: Could you say that again? Me: An iced Americano, please. Staff: Do you eat in the restaurant? – There weren’t any seats inside the store, so I looked around for a while and decided to eat in since there was one . Staff: It’s 550 yen. Me: Okay, can I pay by card? Staff: Please touch my finger. I’ve been coming here often since it was in Haruyoshi, and a friend of mine (at another branch) works here, so I was curious after it moved , but it seems like the atmosphere of the store (?) has changed a lot . They said that once you take a seat, you can’t change it even if it’s empty. – You can’t even ask to change it (too bad) . – Still, there’s always a wait, so I couldn’t come in, but since I was in, I looked around here and there. They said you have to add 10 yen for a straw (I found out later) . But the coffee was just right for my taste. The body was a little weak, but the balance was good and the aftertaste was good. – It takes 5 minutes for the coffee to come out, and 5 minutes to drink it. Modern society is so busy . – As soon as I step outside, I meet a double-decker bus. Give me a ride… It’s cool . – I only heard that there is one, so I should ride it next time. I wander around here and there and go to the mart. – I prefer Aeon Shoppers or Max Value to Don Quijote. I like them because they’re open 24 hours. First, I’ll make sure to pack a shopping cart and then grab my favorite pudding. I like pudding with a strong milk flavor, and I heard this was delicious, so I grabbed one. Yogurt is a must-have when I come to Japan, and I found this yogurt I’ve often seen on Instagram . This is the crepe I had last time, and it was delicious, so I bought one this time too. The ones with fruit are a big hit . It’s getting harder and harder to buy furikake in Korea these days. I should buy a few while I’m here . I picked up one tarako (cod roe or mentaiko) furikake and one noritosake (seaweed and salmon flavor). – The combination of seaweed and salmon is delicious , and I can’t resist cute things . Anpanman Corn Cream Soup. Be my Dododo colleague too. – I tend to abandon my colleagues to raise them strong; I saw it on Seohom’s YouTube channel and was really curious. I was wondering if I should order it online, but I found it here. And this is my favorite snack, Kataage, the nori (seaweed) flavor is delicious. Memo memo, this is the chocolate-coated version of Corn Choco . If you like chocolate, you have to grab it. Let’s make a promise~ When I come to Japan, I always get ginger ale. The size is perfect for a late-night snack. I also get a bottle of hojicha to drink at night – I prefer namacha over green tea or hojicha . I often buy the hand gel from Atrix because it’s not sticky. – The price is also affordable, so it’s good as a gift . This is from Cezanne, and I bought one because it’s said to be a pore-removing product. I’ll try it and leave a review. (Wink) Do you remember in the last video where I paid 100 yen for a paper bag? This time, I brought a shopping cart from Korea (proud) . When you travel, you have to stop by a convenience store, right? I was planning to fill my freezer with ice cream when I come to Japan. But my room changed and the fridge is smaller, so I’m only going to buy one (strong determination) . You guys, this ice cream is really delicious. They sometimes sell it in Korea too, but if you see it, try it. It’s really delicious . Most of the private brand products sold at 7-Eleven are delicious, but these two are really 7-Eleven’s best. When it comes to snacks and bread, 7-Eleven is number one . I was just about to buy some and leave when they started selling oden (mid-October). [“I found oden but I’m not buying it?” is not in my dictionary.] Me: One winnamaki. Me: Do you have winnamaki? Me: Is this kinchaku? Me: Yes, that one too . There aren’t as many types of oden as I thought, so I’ll just buy a little and go back. After you’ve chosen everything, they’ll add the broth and package it for you. Staff member: (Is this the amount of broth) okay? Me: Yes Staff member: Do you need a bag? Me: Yes, please. [I ended up buying another plastic bag. At least it was only 10 yen, so that’s a good thing.] Now that I’ve bought ice cream and oden, I’ll hurry back to the hotel with a wasp-like gait. – I’m really anxious because I’m worried the oden will get cold… Since it’s evening, I chose hojicha. Hojicha has less caffeine than other teas. When buying oden, make sure to get karashi and yuzu kosho. Don’t forget to eat chikuwa, the most basic flavor, with karashi for the first oden of the year that I’ve been looking forward to. This is kinchaku, a chewy matdori with mochi inside aburaage, and top it with yuzu kosho. Winnamaki is a Vienna sausage roll. Tsukune is also available. This is maruten, which is just Korean food. The pao crepe that I had last time was a reasonable size and cost 165 yen. There were a lot of varieties, but I got the fruit mix. The cream was delicious and the fruit was sweet, so this was matdori as well. This ice cream always appears on Instagram, so as a parent, I got one. It’s like a very rich chocolate ice cream topped with Royce-style chocolate. It’s really delicious. But it tastes a bit like alcohol. (I think it’s rum) It’s a bit disappointing that it tastes like alcohol . [This is how the first day ends] – There was news of rain, but I’m lucky that it didn’t rain . Today, I left early in the morning to go to Shinsen (a famous fruit sandwich restaurant). – As of 10:30 AM yesterday, the melon sandwich was sold out. So, I’m going to try an opening run today. From Kushida Jinja Station to Hakata Station, 210 yen. Arrived at 8:30 AM . The line stretched past the store and to other stores. – My inner conflict is getting worse because I’m waiting. [I’ll give up and go somewhere else.] I remembered a bakery I had forgotten about. I came to a bakery right next door that’s incredibly famous among the locals. Shinsen is a place where only Koreans line up, but this place has only locals lining up. This place was introduced to me by a Japanese friend from Kitakyushu. This omelet bread is famous (with condensed milk cream inside), and the condensed milk bread called Sunny Bread is the most popular. (It tastes even better when grilled) Everything is between 300 and 400 yen, so the price is good . Staff: Thank you. Staff: Do you need a bag? Me: A bag is fine. [I’m glad I brought a basket. I’m so happy.] Me: Can I use a card? Staff: Yes. The total is 680 yen. – One Sunny Bread (2 pieces (condensed milk bread) and one 5-piece omelet for 680 yen. Staff: Here is the card and the receipt. Thank you. Me: Can I take a picture here? Staff: Yes, it’s fine. [These days, I ask if I can take a picture and then take a picture.] Let’s take a quick look around while shopping on an empty stomach. – It’s really convenient when I hang it up and use it while traveling. Hanging face wash pouch 330 yen. It’s quite useful. Ziploc bag that can be used in the freezer 330 yen. Sanrio pouch. It’s cute, but Black Thunder is becoming more popular than Kit Kat (there are many kinds at Daiso). Let’s unpack the items I bought on this trip when I go to Korea. (Wink) After shopping on an empty stomach, I bought a sandwich at 7-Eleven. Today’s breakfast. I tend to turn on Japanese TV while I eat. That way, I can hear Japanese better when I’m out and about . It’s the most basic sandwich: lettuce, ham, cheese, and bread. It’s delicious because it’s loaded with lettuce. My Japanese friends recommended it . And I ‘m holding back on my words after taking a bite of the pudding I bought yesterday . Hmm… I think the original is a bit tastier. (Personal preference) And I bought some Shiroya after a long time . This is Shiroya, a famous bakery in Kitakyushu. It ‘s a bakery where the locals overwhelmingly shop. As you can see, it says “Kitakyushu’s soul food. ” It’s a really old bakery. The condensed milk makes it even tastier when toasted. Now, let’s head to the Tenjin Underground Shopping Mall. It’s 210 yen from Kushida-jinja Station to Tenjin-minami Station. Since it first opened, I’ve always gone here when I’m in Fukuoka. It opens at 10, but when I got there at 11, one side was already empty. Just as I was feeling regretful, a staff member who read my mind filled it up and smiled. First, I picked up two 200-gram bags. 200 grams for 550 yen and 100 grams for 300 yen. I was thinking about buying some fresh sweet potatoes, agetate (fried today), and imokenpi (sweet potato sticks). I said: Can I just take these? Since it was my first time eating agetate, I asked if I should get something else. I heard that the imokenpi (sweet potato sticks) sell out faster than I thought, so if you’re going to buy them, it would be safe to go in the morning. Staff: It’s 1,600 yen. Me: Can I use a card? Staff: Yes , I can. Staff: Do you have the underground shopping mall app? Staff : Do you need a sharing envelope (gift envelope)? Me: Oh, it’s okay. Me: Oh, can I have one? [I’m really anxious… ;;] Staff: I put chocolate in this as a gift. Me: Thank you~ I was really happy that you gave me the service this time. It’s right across from Imoyakinjiro, so it was nice to browse together. I don’t usually buy spreads, but this was a really hot item. It was 354 yen, so I grabbed one. Lemonade Potion, which was limited edition last summer – It seems to have become a steady item because it’s popular with Koreans. I bought the Queen Aman Spread. I came up to the ground floor thinking I’d check out Montbell, and the view was really pretty. It’s a 9-minute walk from Tenjin Underground Shopping Mall to Montbell. Montbell Duty-free, no photography, credit card payments accepted . I came here thinking I’d buy a Montbell barmack or lightweight padding that’s popular these days . Photography isn’t allowed, so I couldn’t take any pictures inside, but there were a lot of products and a lot of people. On the way to gacha to soothe my bitter heart at Montbell (4-minute walk). These days, I go to gacha shops as a souvenir(?). I found it. Today’s gacha gacha . I like Natsume’s seal, so I wanted to do it as soon as I saw Nyanko-sensei. Here’s someone who just puts in a 500 yen note even though it says they don’t accept it because they’re in a hurry? He changed the coins and went back to the good gacha. Let’s put our luggage down and go eat now. From Kushida-jinja Station to Yakuin-odori Station, it’s 210 yen. I heard there’s a really long wait here, so I’m going a little late. This place is really famous among Koreans. If you go around 2 PM, there’s almost no wait. Everyone raves about how delicious it is, so I’m really looking forward to it. They also have a variety of dressings for the cabbage, which is nice . Finally, my chicken namban came out. It must be so delicious~ First of all, it’s good that they gave you lots of cabbage and tartar sauce. Oh, I’m editing now and seeing this makes me want to eat it again… It’s soft and moist. I didn’t put the cabbage dressing on, and it went perfectly with the chicken. Complete meal. Mosaic to protect your eyes . There were some reviews that said it was cash only, so I prepared cash. They said I could pay with a contactless card. Me: It was delicious. Staff: Thank you. Chicken Namban seems a little on the pricey side, but they are friendly and the food is good, so I think I’ll come back next time. I want to do some more shopping, so let’s go to Daimyo again. The bus from Yakuin-odori to Daimyo is 210 yen. I stopped by Montbell earlier, but I thought it would be a shame not to buy something, so I went back. Please understand in advance that the angle is not very good because I had to take pictures without showing other people. Staff: Please wait. Me: Yes. Asking about T-shirt sizes Staff: My chest width is 63. Me: Oh, I see. Me : This is 6,600 yen for 3 pieces . Staff: Yes, but if you get the duty-free, it’s 6,000 yen. Staff: This is also 1,400 yen. Me: What color is it? Staff: They come in white, black, gray, and navy. Me: Is this black? Staff: This is black. I’ll get the navy one. Staff: This one is a bit bluer. The staff here were really kind, and they explained to me in a mix of English, Japanese, and Korean because they knew I was Korean. I was really touched that they did their best to explain things to me . Me: Please give me a 3-pack in that color and 3 carabiners. Staff: Oh, up to 2.. Maximum 2 per person. Accessories are limited to 2 per item in front of each person . Even while waiting in line to pay, they kept talking to me, so I wasn’t bored. lol Me: This is my first time at Human Made. Everyone is so kind. (⌒▽⌒) Staff: Wow!! That’s a relief. (⌒▽⌒) Staff: Have you been to Tokyo?.. Is this your first time at Human Made? Me: Yes . Me: I’ve never been to Korea. Staff: Oh!! Really? (・Д・) Is it far? Me: Yes, it is far. (⌒-⌒; ) Me: I’m from Busan. (⌒-⌒; ) Staff: Ah, this is closer. Me: Yes, yes Staff: Thank you. (^O^) Staff: But how do you know how to speak Japanese? (*゚▽゚*) Staff: Did you study? Me: I studied a little on my own before. Staff: Awesome(・Д・) Staff: Amazing (O_O) Me: I took the JLPT. Me: So I’m a little used to it now. Staff: Are you saying that you have a certificate (for proficiency test levels)? (⌒▽⌒) Me: Yes (⌒-⌒; ) Staff: Awesome( ・Д・) Staff: Then you’re totally Japanese. (⌒▽⌒) Me: No (embarrassed;;;) Staff: Do you think you’re better than Japanese people? Me: Not that far yet… (^◇^;) Staff: You arrived (in Japan) yesterday? They must have seen your passport because you were going through the duty-free procedures. Me: Yes, that’s right. (⌒-⌒) Staff: When are you going back (to Korea)? Tomorrow? Me: Yes Staff: Please wait a moment. Me: Yes, thank you. Staff: Be careful. Thank you. (⌒▽⌒) Actually, this woman was so kind when I came here earlier that I came back again, and I’m glad I came back even though it was hard. The male employee who greeted me the first time came and waved at me on the way out. If you keep doing this, I’ll come again next time. ヽ(´▽`)/ It was a fulfilling shopping experience. After walking around a lot in the evening, I woke up slowly and Anpanman greeted me in the morning, which was so nice. Since my flight back home is late at night, I’m going to eat breakfast and take my time. This morning, the fruit yogurt I brought home yesterday because I had one leftover was also delicious , and the sandwich I bought at Max Value . This acai berry smoothie isn’t a Japanese product, but it tasted a bit like an acai bowl and was delicious. I check out at 12 and go to a new fruit sandwich restaurant. It’s 210 yen from Kushida-jinja Station to Hakata Station, but… I exited through the Hakata Gate and saw something new. A gacha shop opened in the subway station! They don’t have a huge selection, but they have miniatures and famous characters. It seemed like a good place to satisfy any lingering desires before heading to the airport . I remembered there was a fruit sandwich shop here, so I came here. There are many, but my goal today is the melon sandwich . Me: Please give me one. They packed it for me with a cooler and wet wipes. You can eat food you buy at Hankyu at the food court on the first basement floor. I wasn’t confident eating bread on the street, so I asked and they said I could eat it here. They even provided wet wipes, which was really nice. I went there once when it first opened, but wasn’t very impressed. After trying this today, I wondered if I had ordered the wrong item. The fruit sandwich, with its sweet juice, was definitely delicious. It was 648 yen. I’ll definitely buy it again next time. For my last shopping, I’m heading to Don Quijote Nakasu. Cosmetics and character products are plentiful on the first floor. My goal today was to buy this Shiseido baby powder, which a makeup artist I often see recommended. I only bought one for testing purposes. (You can find it in the haul video.) Groceries, body products, detergents, alcohol, medicine, etc. are mostly on the second floor. Nescafé KitKat Cafe Mocha sounds delicious, but it’s also a Denroku Otsumami snack, which is easily available in Korea. Shiodare was a bit expensive when it was super popular, but it seems to have come down a bit. I often buy seasonings, especially yuzu kosho , and now that it’s getting chilly, I always add this. Oden soup makes oden so much easier. And this dishwashing detergent is highly recommended. It’s going to change the quality of life for all single people living alone. ㅋ There was one thing I absolutely had to buy when I came to Don Quijote this time: the underwear detergent. I’ll have a review of that soon. I wonder if it’ll be worth 438 yen. My precious little Don Quijote shopping item. ㅎ Fortunately, it rained lightly on the last day. Leaving behind the Anpanman Museum, which I’ve always wanted to visit, I head back to Hakata. Me: Three flavors of tuna Me: One salmon Me: Ah… shrimp tempura Me: One ginger ale please. My last meal in Fukuoka was, as expected, sashimi. These days, I like ginger ale more than alcohol, so today I actually ordered a small amount because I was a little full. There’s no wasabi in the sushi, so you have to put it in yourself. First, let’s eat the akami (dipped in soy sauce). Staff: Excuse me. Shrimp tempura. Me: Thank you. I heard the tempura here is really delicious, so today I ‘ll have some salmon too. What can I say ? But as I eat, my mouth is starting to water. – I’m the one who picks up the shrimp tempura while debating whether I should order more or not . What is this? Why am I only eating it now? Why haven’t I tried it before? It’s my second time, and I really like shrimp tempura with a pinch of salt . It’s been a while since I’ve had such a delicious meal. I was already full, but I ordered another one. – The sooner you finish these kinds of decisions on the last day, the better. If that’s the case, I should’ve ordered tekkamaki. I briefly regretted it, but I’m still satisfied . They give you green tea if you order “Agarihitotsugudasai.” The green tea refreshed my palate and finished the meal~ My last satisfying meal in Fukuoka~ 260 yen from Kushida Jinja Station to Fukuoka Airport Station . The humidity was a bit high, so it was a bit difficult, but it was worth it. You know there’s no convenience store in the airport, right? Do your last convenience store shopping at Lawson on the first floor. Monaka ice cream is a must-eat when you come to Japan . A convenience store and Uniqlo are also opening on December 5th. I guess I should come back in December~ Thank you for joining me for my 38th Fukuoka trip. I’ll be back soon with a Fukuoka haul video and behind-the-scenes stories from this trip. And please look forward to the 39th Fukuoka video~ Thank you for watching.
