【栃木・ニューもみぢ】那須塩原温泉に1泊2日一人旅【伊東園ホテルズ】
Shiobara Onsen Hotel New Momiji. All-you-can-eat and all-you-can-drink. Free karaoke, private baths, and more! Please also refer to the chapter list in the access information section . The hotel offers free shuttle service from the JR station. It accommodates up to eight people, so make sure to book your shuttle as soon as you’ve decided on your stay. Pickup locations are JR Nishinasuno Station or Nasu-Shiobara Station, where the Shinkansen stops. Local buses are also available. Depart from Shinjuku on the Shonan-Shinjuku Line. Transfer to Kuroiso at Utsunomiya. Transfer at Utsunomiya Station. If you missed out on Tochigi souvenirs, you can pick them up at this souvenir shop on your way back. There’s also New Days. There were plenty of photo spots and gacha machines. Now, let’s head to Nishinasuno Station. Arriving at Nishinasuno Station. I arrived early. The hotel shuttle is via the west exit, but I decided to use the east exit for a bit of sightseeing. I saw a rare cow-patterned mailbox. It’s a 30-minute walk from Nishinasuno Station to Nogi Shrine, dedicated to General Nogi. The distance is about 2.4 km. It’s quite a walk, but it was a good workout. The leaves on the Oyama approach, where the autumn foliage is beautiful, were still green. I imagine it’s especially beautiful in November. For lunch, I had a mixed platter of udon and soba noodles at Sakaeya. It was a regular portion, but it was a huge serving. The udon noodles were nestled underneath the soba noodles. Getting off the train along the way is fun, too. Nishinasuno Station, West Exit, General Car Park. Here, I waited for the hotel shuttle. The shuttle arrived. Since the person who had been picked up at Nasu-Shiobara Station had already boarded , I sat in an available seat. It was full. The bus stopped at the New Momiji, where I was staying, as well as the Itoen Hotel Shiobara. Depending on traffic congestion, it usually takes 40 minutes to get there. Apparently , traffic can get heavy during the autumn foliage season in November. I actually wanted to come in November, but the hotel was fully booked and I couldn’t get a reservation. I arrived around 2:30 PM. Reservations for the private baths and karaoke start at 1:00 PM, so I was a little worried about making it. The staff speaks slowly, so you can understand them even at double speed. I arrived at 2:30 PM in the check-in shuttle. The private hot springs, karaoke, mahjong, and table tennis can be reserved at the front desk and are free of charge. Reservations start at 1:00 PM, and you can reserve any time you like, first come, first served. If you arrive late, there may be no slots left. Although I arrived at 2:30 PM, I was able to make reservations for the private baths, karaoke, and table tennis. After receiving an explanation about the rooms and meals, I was able to check in. Dinner that day was served for an hour and a half, starting at 6:00 PM. Breakfast the next day was served for an hour and a half, starting at 7:00 AM. During busy periods, such as weekends, meals are served in two sessions, but on this day, there was only one. There is a vending machine corner on the first floor. Here, there are vending machines for juice, alcohol, and food, as well as an ice maker and microwave. The lobby. There’s a TV, newspapers, pamphlets, etc. At the back, there are two karaoke rooms and a ping-pong court. To the right is the restroom. The spacious ping-pong court has a great view and two tables. Karaoke Room Yasuragi. I sing alone here for an hour at night. It’s quite spacious. I think it can fit about 20 people. On the other side is Karaoke Room Tsudoi. This room is a little smaller. Since I was alone, this was fine. The shop is next to the front desk. You pay at the front desk. They have souvenir sweets, pickles, and clothing and accessories. There are a lot of souvenir sweets shaped like maple leaves. I could buy some just to sample them, but I’m still full from the udon and soba noodles I had for lunch. I wonder what torn bean mochi is. I’m full. Oh, there’s something cute looking at me. They also sell lotion. Look, it’s looking at me. It’s just my imagination. It’s looking! I’ve been seeing a lot of bargain lucky bags at the convenience store lately. This area has a strawberry sweets section that’s unique to Tochigi . They also have souvenir accessories here. I forgot to buy the lemon milk mini towel. Huh? Why are you going back? I’m being called. I’m a strawberry fairy possessed by a bear. Please, take me home. That’s what I’m saying. It’s just my imagination. 3,080 yen. My room was ready just before 3 p.m. My room was on the fifth floor. To the left, there’s a large communal bath and a private bath. I booked a room facing the Hoki River. It ‘s mid-October, so the autumn leaves haven’t yet turned. A one-night stay with two meals, for one person, with guaranteed riverside access, cost 13,398 yen. I entered the room with an old-fashioned key. Enter the room and insert the key into the socket on the right to turn on the lights. I can’t find the outlet, so I’m looking for it. The entrance and shoebox. There are slippers in the shoebox. There’s a refrigerator, a kettle, cups, etc. on the left. A towel rack. The bathroom. The toilet. It ‘s a little old, but it has a washlet. The room is a Japanese-style room with 8 tatami mats. The futon is already laid out. It’s spacious for a single person. It’s cloudy, so the room is a little dark. There’s a TV. There’s a table and chairs on the veranda. From the window, you can see the Hoki River. The leaves are starting to change color a little. Just a little. I’ll go for a walk along the Hoki River later. A view of the room from the veranda. It looks like it could accommodate about 8 people. A safe with a lock. The closet contains one person’s worth of work clothes, toothbrushes, and towels. The work clothes are only available in size M. If you need a different size, you can bring a yukata from the shelf near the front desk on the first floor. A phone and tissues. There were spare futons and low chairs in the closet. Since I was alone, there was only one low chair in the room. The snacks were yokan (sweet bean paste) with adzuki beans and a delicacy of horse mackerel. For tea, I used tea bags. I wasn’t hungry, so I ate when I got home. There was a kettle, cups, and an ice bucket. The refrigerator was empty. There was no bottled water. If you needed cold water quickly, there was a vending machine or the water dispenser in the large bath. The view from the window. I was wearing a work kimono (summer kimono) with a separate top and bottom that made it easy to move around. It was pitch black outside at night. This was the view on the second day. The leaves don’t change much in just one day. The dinner buffet was at 6 p.m. on the second floor of the hotel. Dinner was reserved for me. Luckily, I was seated in a corner by the window. However, it was so dark I couldn’t enjoy the view. Since it was a half-buffet, the meal was set out first. Appetizers included sashimi and chawanmushi. Pork hotpot. Until November, we are having a kamameshi fair where you can choose between two types of kamameshi. You can choose between kamameshi with maitake mushrooms and braised pork, or kamameshi with autumn mackerel and butter. I chose the maitake mushrooms and braised pork. Now , let’s take a look at the buffet dishes. Kohada sushi , shrimp sushi , salmon sushi, squid sushi Edamame beans, lightly pickled cabbage, eggplant with miso dressing, konnyaku ( free-dried tofu) , pork stew, takoyaki (grilled octopus balls ), mapo tofu, fried chicken , daikon radish with shrimp sauce, sweet potato tempura, sweet potato tempura, fried chikuwa (fish cakes) , fried rice, and Tochigi’s specialty gyoza (dumplings). Fried chikuwa (fish cakes), fried rice, Tochigi’s specialty gyoza , fresh yuba soup, soba noodles, hot and cold soups available. Cook your own mushroom cream pasta. Miso soup , spicy curry ( may be too spicy for children), rice, and pickles. Salad and dessert section: broccoli, onion, lettuce, lychee, potato salad, pineapple mandarin jelly, strawberry jelly, petit choux, roll cake. Vanilla ice cream and strawberry ice cream. There’s also a wide variety of all-you-can-drink alcohol options, including wine, shochu, sake, beer, and whiskey. A variety of soft drinks are also available. A delicious dinner is ready. This is the initial set menu. The portions were small, but they were enough to make a side dish and fill you up. The kamameshi rice was also cooked. The pork hotpot was cooked in dashi, so it was edible as is. We served each of the buffet dishes, one bite at a time. The sushi was popular. Some dishes were already included in the set menu, so when we served everything from the buffet, it ended up being a huge portion. But we ate it all, of course. The curry was spicy, which I liked. We had both red and white wine. The kamameshi rice was moist and delicious . If the heat had been a little stronger, it would have been nice to have a charred texture and a more fragrant aroma. We also tried all the sake varieties, and it was a very enjoyable dinner. Thank you for the meal. Public Bath and Open-Air Bath The public bath and open-air bath are located on the fifth floor of the hotel. In front of the public bath are two massagers and a rest area. The public bath is open from 3:00 PM to midnight on the day of check-in and from 5:00 AM to 11:00 AM the following day. There are vending machines, but there’s also a water dispenser in the changing room. The hot spring is a mixture of two types of hot spring water: sodium chloride and bicarbonate. There are plenty of washing areas, so it wasn’t crowded. There’s also a sauna. The open-air bath is located next to the large public bath. During the day, you could see the view of the Hoki River. Private baths are also available on the fifth floor. I wanted to bathe while it was still light, but the only available time was in the evening. There was no lotion provided in the sink. The private baths have a 50-minute usage time. While it’s an indoor hot spring, I liked the view of the small garden. There are two private baths, but I used the one on the right. The one on the left seems to be similar. The stone lantern in the garden is a bit different. How about a massage after your bath? It costs 200 yen for 10 minutes. I stayed on a weekday, a Tuesday, and it was quiet overall, so I didn’t see anyone resting here. The breakfast buffet is on the second floor, the same as dinner. The restaurant had a 90-minute time limit, starting at 7:00 AM. Unlike dinner, there was unreserved seating, but we found the same corner seat as dinner. It was 10 minutes before opening, but several people were already eating. Let’s start with the food. Coarsely ground sausages. French fries . Grilled mackerel . Shishamo (smelt). Plain omelette. Fried white fish. Meatballs with thick bean paste. German potatoes. Pork shumai. Matsumae pickles. Chikuzen-ni (simmered) Kinpei burdock root , sliced dried daikon radish, simmered hijiki seaweed , eggplant with ponzu sauce, thick omelet, blanched komatsuna (Japanese mustard spinach), chopped okra, nametake mushrooms , bologna sausage , tropical fruit, grapefruit, sesame kelp . The bread, both sliced and round, can be heated in the toaster. Corn soup. Yogurt and corn flakes. Three types of dressing. The salad section included onion , broccoli, corn, lettuce, and macaroni salad. Hot tofu, hot spring egg, natto, seasoned seaweed, pickles , porridge , udon, rice, and miso soup. A delicious breakfast was ready. I took a bite of everything. It was a great seat with a view. It seemed like the leaves had turned a little more red than the day before. There was a river flowing below. Thank you for the meal! Sights Within Walking Distance: This time, I actually visited two places. The Red Suspension Bridge, an eight-minute walk from the hotel, is lit up at night . Another eight minutes’ walk brings you to Shichigen Falls. I also visited the Leaf Fossil Garden, a 19-minute walk away. Admission is 500 yen for adults and 300 yen for children. For an additional 850 yen, you can experience fossil excavation. However, you won’t know until you break it open. Huh? If you move it a little, it might not come out. It was a challenge. It wasn’t in. It broke into a strange shape. Oh! It came out! Amazing. You can clearly see the veins. I found this much in a short amount of time. There are still more stones, but it’s getting close to time for the return car, so I’ll stop here. You can take the fossils you excavate home with you. Apparently you can wash them with water. You can also take the excavation stones home and break them up. It was fun, so I’d like to come again. I heard it gets crowded with children during the summer holidays. I hurry back to the hotel. Check-out is at 11am. Looking at it this way, it feels like the leaves have turned more red than yesterday. Thank you for your hospitality. After checking out, I wait for the shuttle bus. I had lunch at Restaurant Cafe Lamp. Hmm? Is there something more there? It’s just your imagination. I’m a strawberry fairy who has possessed a bear. The shuttle bus on the way back was designed to accommodate 8 people, but there were only 7 of them. The End Thank you for watching until the end. Please come and see us again. Until next time!
