北海道・斜里町からウトロへ向かう約30kmの海沿いの道。オホーツクシーニックバイウェイは、知床半島の入り口へ続く、美しい海岸ルートです。
右手にはオホーツク海、左手には知床の山々が広がり、海と山が並ぶ雄大な景色が続きます。道沿いにはオシンコシンの滝があります。季節や時間帯によって、海の色や山の表情が変わるのもこの道の魅力です。
おすすめの時間帯は午後。日差しが海に反射してきらめき、ウトロに近づくにつれて夕日に染まる海が見られます。静かに海岸線をたどりながら、知床の入り口へ向かうドライブです。
●Okhotsk Scenic Byway (Shari → Utoro)●
The Okhotsk Scenic Byway runs about 30 kilometers along the coast from Shari to Utoro, leading toward the entrance of the Shiretoko Peninsula.
The road follows the shoreline with the Sea of Okhotsk on the right and the mountains of Shiretoko rising on the left.
Along the route is Oshinkoshin Waterfall, where you can see the white spray and the sea from the same viewpoint.
The scenery changes with the seasons and the time of day, showing different colors and light across the sea and hills.
The best time to drive is in the afternoon.
The sunlight reflects off the ocean, and near Utoro, the sea often turns a warm shade of orange as the sun begins to set.
It’s a quiet coastal drive that leads gently toward the Shiretoko area.
