Vol.167[SUB/4K]

Good morning! This is E-Ma. We’re at Nasu Garden Outlet before opening time. This is where our journey begins! We’re currently in Nasu Highlands, a popular tourist destination in Tochigi Prefecture. This is the first part of Day 1 of our two-day, one-night trip to Nasu. On Day 1, we’ll mainly drive around Nasu Highlands, sightseeing. On Day 2, we’ll shop at popular stores and also visit Nasu-Shiobara. Please read to the end! Let’s get started! This is the popular farm stand, which is open from the morning. Fresh locally grown vegetables and fruits are lined up. The selection is quite extensive, especially in the morning! Further inside, there are also souvenirs. Even though it was before opening hours, there was a restaurant inside. Within the roadside station grounds is the villa of Aoki Shuzo, who served as German envoy and foreign minister during the Meiji period. You can go inside and tour the building. …But we didn’t go! (^▽^;) This roadside station is large, covering an area of 7.5 hectares, and in front of the second parking lot is the “Hanna Garden.” There’s a flower field where you can enjoy seasonal flowers. Yellow cosmos were in bloom, but it seemed a little early. For lunch today, I decided to go to a restaurant I found on Google Maps. It’s quite popular, and a sign to write your name appears in front of the restaurant an hour before opening. I was heading there to write my name. The restaurant opens at 11:00, so I arrived around 10:05. I was the 12th person there (;・∀・). Since I had some time before opening, I decided to check out a nearby roadside station. I went into the tourist information center on the premises. I always stop by there, as they have brochures and discount coupons. I wanted to try the food there, too, but maybe next time (^_^;). I went into the “Crafts Museum.” Photography was allowed, with some exceptions. They not only exhibit handmade items by local craftspeople, but also sell them. They also offer demonstrations and hands-on workshops. “Nasu Royal Highlands Marche” sells local produce and souvenirs. I was surprised by the number of people there when I went inside (^_^;). It’s a roadside station located along the main street of Nasu Highlands, as you’d expect. I was curious about the pickle shop across from the roadside station, so I decided to stop by. They sell tamari pickles made entirely with domestic ingredients. I sampled a lot and bought some cucumber and daikon radish pickles. I made some ochazuke (rice with tea) after returning home and they were delicious. I’ll buy some again the next time I’m in Nasu (´ー`). It was 10:50, so I headed back to “Usaburo.” The parking lot was almost full (゚Д゚). There were so many people in front of the store, I wondered how many groups were waiting (;・∀・). This restaurant, located in a lovely old house, serves freshly pounded rice cakes, steamed rice, and seasonal country cuisine. The Obokozen set meal is 1,100 yen. Let’s eat! I started with the simmered dish (´ー`). The seasoning was similar to oden, and the flavor was thoroughly absorbed into the daikon radish (*’▽’). The small side dish was a mildly flavored salad of okra and enoki mushrooms (´ー`). The kenchinjiru soup was packed with ingredients. Delicious (≧▽≦). The freshly pounded mochi was slightly warm and delicious ヽ(^o^)丿. The mochi was larger than I expected, so I was quite full (´ー`). Every dish was carefully prepared. Everything was delicious, and it’s no wonder it’s so popular (´ー`). I’ve been to Nasu many times before… but there are many new shops opening and tourist spots I’ve never been to. I had a hard time deciding where to go when planning my trip. I found a fun-looking leisure facility near Usaburo, so I decided to check it out (´ー`). This is one of the largest gem-hunting leisure facilities in northern Kanto. I didn’t make a reservation in advance, so I decided to try Crystal River. After checking in, I took some photos while waiting for my turn. I’m already excited even before we start excavating (*’▽’). Up ahead is the “Underground Mine,” which requires advance reservations. A guidebook explaining “Crystal River” is posted. We’re going to find the legendary key, too! We’re the Orange Bucket Team. After receiving the guidebook, we set off. The legendary key is so small! (;・∀・). Our 20-minute gem hunt began. At first, we took pictures of each gem we found, but… We soon got so engrossed in the search that it ended up like this (^_^;). We managed to find this much! I wonder (*’▽’). who got more? Everyone’s trying their best! (´ー`). It was more fun than I expected, and the 20 minutes flew by. I wish I’d done it again! (._.). I tried the crane game, which costs 100 yen per play! ( ̄ー ̄). It’s been so long since I last played that I don’t even know where to aim! (^_^;). The arm automatically lowered while I was deciding on a spot! (´Д`). I thought I wouldn’t get any, but to my surprise, I got double! (≧▽≦). What will I get? It was a small zirconia with a 60% chance of appearing (´ー`). The other one… was a cursed ring with a 10% chance of appearing Σ(゚Д゚). This leisure facility seems more suited to adults than children (´ー`). Next time, I’d like to make a reservation in advance and try the underground mine (´ー`). We headed up the mountain on Prefectural Route 17. We looked out over the Nasu Highlands from the observation deck (´ー`). This is the “Nasu Highlands Observation Deck,” a sacred place for lovers. The view is simply amazing (*’▽’). Apparently, it’s also a great spot for night views… It seems scary to come here at night in the dark (;´・ω・). We retraced our steps. Next, we headed to a famous tourist spot in Nasu Highlands. It’s a tourist spot with a scary name, isn’t it? (^_^;). The strong smell of sulfur permeated the area. This is a historical site connected to the legend of the “Nine-Tailed Fox.” It’s a place where large rocks are scattered all over the place. There’s a well-maintained promenade, making it easy to walk. It seems like you can climb up from here to the observation deck mentioned earlier. This broken rock is the “Sesshō-seki.” It was originally one large rock, but it split in March 2022. It’s likely that it split naturally from an existing crack. At the time, rumors were circulating that a sealed nine-tailed fox had been released. Nasu Town also considered this a major incident, holding a memorial service and a peace prayer ceremony. The sulfur smell is strong, but you can walk around in about 30 minutes, so be sure to check it out! (´ー`) Next time, we’ll cover the second half of Day 1 of our two-day, one-night trip to Nasu. I hope this video was helpful to you. If you enjoyed it, please give it a like, hype it, and subscribe! I look forward to your comments and feedback! (´ー`) Thank you for watching until the end. Stay tuned for the next video! (^_^)/~
