Thank you for watching. This video shows the early morning port and auction at Sakurai Fishing Port in Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture. Sakurai Fishing Port is a Class 1 fishing port in Ehime Prefecture.If the weather is good, auctions are held every day. Today, I visited the fishing port at 5am. If you like, please take your time to watch until the end of the auction. We are preparing for the auction to begin at 6:30. There’s still time until the auction starts, so I’ll go outside. Here at Sakurai Fishing Port, small-scale bottom trawl fishing is popular. Fishermen are cooking fire in drums on the quay. It’s a chilly morning, so the warmth is nice. They go fishing from one hour before dawn until dusk. You can only fish during daylight hours, so the fishing times change depending on the season. However, it seems that night diving fishing will be allowed soon. Apparently they go to catch turban shells and abalone. Apparently they go to catch conger and sea bream from April to May. It’s been warm lately, so there seem to be a lot of conger conger. The blue crabs often caught here are said to be most delicious when steamed. It seems that there are many boats going fishing this morning. It will return to the port between 16:00 and 17:00 today and be auctioned the next day. Here, we are sorting through the seafood we caught the day before. Seafood kept alive in seawater is auctioned the next morning. Once the fish are unloaded, they immediately go fishing for the next auction. Night has come. There are apparently about 20 middlemen, most of whom come from Imabari City. It seems that most middlemen are supermarkets or fresh fish stores. The auctioneer sits on a chair on the table to the left, and the broker takes up position on the right side of the table. Large red soles are being caught. Red clams and mussels are also being caught. Lively fish such as flounder, flathead, and Nagoya puffer fish are being caught. The auction begins. 今回は、愛媛県今治市桜井に有る桜井漁港の朝の様子を２回に分けてご覧頂きます。瀬戸内海 燧灘を漁場とする桜井漁港は小型の底引き網漁が盛んで、多い日は10数艘の船が漁に出ます。魚種も時期にもよりますが、アカシタビラメ、ワタリガニ、小エビ、アジ、タイ、コチ、カレイ、フグなど豊富に採れます。明るい間の漁が基本で、夜明け１時間前頃から出航して16時から17時に帰港します。翌日の6時半の競りまでは海水につけて活かしておいて競りにかけます。
