群馬県中之条町の日本国道最高地点。長野県と群馬県の境目に標高2172ｍの記念碑が建っています。広大な芳ヶ平湿原を一望でき、その先では現在も活動中の白根山から白い煙が立ち上っています。
The highest point on a national highway in Japan is in Nakanojo Town, Gunma Prefecture. A monument stands at an altitude of 2,172m on the border between Nagano and Gunma prefectures. We can see the vast Yoshigahira Marshland, and beyond that, white smoke rises from Mt. Shirane, which is still active.
