BE A RIDERChannel Montbell Outdoor Oasis Ishizuchi Campground, Ehime Prefecture 9:30 am
(around) This time I used Montbell Outdoor Oasis Ishizuchi Campground Once again, it was a completely solo camping trip. I was sweating profusely in the direct sunlight from the morning. And as the afternoon approached, the clouds gradually increased. The weather forecast predicts that the weather will worsen soon. It’s a good idea to wear gloves even for short distances. That’s fine. I ended up being lazy this time. First, I had to return the campsite key. I could hear the cicadas chirping all the time. Montbell Outdoor Oasis Ishizuchi Store, Ehime Prefecture At Montbell, morning meetings are held through a window. They’re probably getting ready to open at 10:00. You can return your key before opening time at this mailbox. Checkout is now complete. 10:00 am
(around) I always like to take it easy in the morning. I waited until 10:00 when the store opened and went shopping at Montbell. For some reason, the waterproof membrane on the bottom of my tent was starting to peel, so I quickly bought a repair kit. For now, I’m relieved. Still, I don’t know why it’s peeling. Is it grass juice under the tent? LOL There’s a similar mark on the ground sheet. Maybe it hit the tent while the burner was still hot. Maybe it hit the tent. Today I’m heading to the city of Tokushima Prefecture. National Route 11, Saijo City, Ehime Prefecture Considering how cloudy it was, I’m glad I went to Shikoku Karst first. I agree. I’ve only been to Tokushima once, by motorcycle. I’ve been there before, so it feels a bit nostalgic. And the Montbell campground. I used it then. It’s great that there are power outlets along the entire route. I used it when I went to Tokushima before. Focus 01 Niihama Civic Forest Natural Park Passing by a free campsite. A beautiful, free campsite. I like this campsite, but… I had poor cell phone reception, so I decided not to go this time. Okatocho, Shikokuchuo City, Ehime Prefecture It’s about time for an affordable gas station. JA-SS JASS-PORT Toyooka SS Ehime Prefecture Regular GS 161 yen I think it’s on the cheaper side around here. Looking for gas stations is also fun. OK! The sense of relief after filling up is indescribable. Around this fork in the road heading towards Tokushima and Kagawa. I imagine it gets a little crowded. The red line is heading towards Tokushima. Now that we’ve passed the big fork, I can finally relax. Towards Miyoshi City. National Route 192, Ehime Prefecture. There’ll be one lane for a while. It’s a real pain if cars get stuck here. Is it okay today? Focus 01 Near Sankakuji Temple, Temple 65 of the Ohenro Pilgrimage I’m planning on doing the pilgrimage later. I can’t help but notice the temples on the Ohenro Pilgrimage route. I like the laid-back atmosphere around here. The coolness of the tunnel is already soothing. Miyoshi City, Tokushima Prefecture I suddenly realized I was in Tokushima Prefecture. Hmm, that car in front of me… Focus 01 The driver was erratic, so I kept my distance. Focus 01 … Focus 01 Scary Focus 01 I was seriously worried. Thank goodness, no accidents. The truck driver must have been panicking… Crossing the Yoshino River Yoshino River, Tokushima Prefecture National Route 319, Tokushima Prefecture This is the end of that thrilling car ride. I hope you drive safely in the future. I’m taking a break. Rest House Ueno, Tokushima Prefecture By “break,” I don’t mean resting at a shop. I’m worried about the rain clouds, so I’m checking the situation. I’m wondering if I can go to Iya Kazurabashi Bridge. National Route 192, Tokushima Prefecture 12:30 pm
(around) Give up on the Iya Kazura Bridge… Large rain clouds are approaching, so I’m running away. 40 minutes one way from Rest House Ueno The round trip and the stay took a little over two hours. I wonder if I can make it here as part of the pilgrimage. Looks tough. So, I’ll continue heading towards Tokushima City. I want to stop at a roadside station, so I’ll change my route. Miyoshi Bridge, Tokushima Prefecture Driving over the bridge is fun Prefectural Route 5, Tokushima Prefecture Prefectural Route 12, Tokushima Prefecture Taking breaks at convenience stores along the way Found a sign for “Shiba Castle Ruins” Focus 01 As a castle lover, I’m intrigued. So, I decided to make a detour. Shiba Castle Ruins, Tokushima Prefecture It’s only a minute or two from the previous traffic light. This “Shibo Castle Ruins” is said to be the birthplace of Miyoshi Nagayoshi, a feudal lord during the Sengoku period. This is the castle where Miyoshi Nagayoshi was born. Miyoshi Nagayoshi is said to have ruled Japan before Oda Nobunaga. Today, the castle site is surrounded by farmland. It was once a quiet place. For history buffs, especially those interested in the Sengoku period This is a must-see. After a satisfying detour, we headed back to the main road. Thankfully, the clouds were thick and there was no sunshine. Heading to the rest stop, “Mimanosato Roadside Station.” Roadside Station Mimanosato, Tokushima Prefecture I’m frightened by the rain clouds in the distance. Mimanosato Roadside Station Got the roadside station stamp. There were retro games in the lounge. Late lunch at a nearby restaurant was delicious. 3:00 pm
(around) After a light rain The blue sky started to appear and it started to get hot. I was enjoying the sunny weather while driving, when I spotted a sign for “Dan no Tsukaana” (Dannotsuka Ana) Focus 01 I was curious, so I decided to check it out. I decided to check it out. After passing through a narrow road that ends when there’s oncoming traffic, I found a paved parking lot. Dan no Tsukaana, Tokushima Prefecture A little old, but a solid sign. It looks like you can go around in the opposite direction. So, I took the stairs behind the sign. I took a quick stroll. The green rice fields in the distance are beautiful. Beyond the row of graves. There it was. Tomb Cave on the Taikozuka Tumulus Oh, hello, Mr. Spider! It feels like an adventure, and it’s kind of fun. I feel a sense of relief when I emerge from the hole. I found a stone monument. I was writing about this group of burial mounds. Going around the perimeter, we come to the second tomb. The entrance is much smaller than the first tomb. Tomb cave at Tanatsuka Tomb Heave-ho, heave-ho. Satisfied. The blue sky and greenery look lovely. It’s hot, though. Continuing toward Tokushima City Prefectural Route 12, Tokushima Prefecture Continuing toward Tokushima City 4:00 pm
(around) Dan-no-tsukaana, where I made a detour earlier. It’s a nationally designated historic site, apparently dating back to the Kofun period. You can almost feel the atmosphere of the time inside the stone chamber. We continued along Prefectural Route 12. From Tokushima We started our motorcycle pilgrimage. So, I decided to do a quick tour beforehand. I decided to check out the temples along the way. The temples on the pilgrimage route were From 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM It was past 4:00 PM by this time, so It was pretty close. (around) After scouting, I headed to my lodging. I found a Workman store on the map. I decided to take another detour. This back road feels amazing. Prefectural Route 12, Tokushima Prefecture Prefectural Route 14, Tokushima Prefecture I’m curious about the gas station prices. Unlike in Kyushu, it’s nice to have prices displayed. Maybe it’s because it’s evening, but there are a lot of cars. I spotted a familiar Workman sign. I’m not planning on buying anything. I feel like I’ve already come here. And since I’m here, I’ll buy it. Another detour. Shopping at Daiso. A charger that’s easy to take out and use. I bought two to change the size of the Velcro. 7:00 p.m.
(around) Finally, we’re off to our lodgings for the night. The twilight-like sky is beautiful. Prefectural Route 137, Tokushima Prefecture I like embankment roads because they offer a wide view. The road structure is something you don’t see in Onsen Prefecture (I don’t think). Fun. But I’d cry if I didn’t have a navigation system. The road is pretty wet. I guess it rained quite a bit. National Route 11, Tokushima Prefecture Yoshinogawa Bridge: Length: 1137.0 m Riding a motorcycle here feels amazing. Maybe it’s because the sky and roads are so wide. Oh no, it’s all over. Almost there, my accommodation. Tokushima City, Tokushima Prefecture It’s so bright with the streetlights. We’ve arrived at Hotel Castle CV. I parked in an available spot. Thank you for your hard work. 7:30 pm
(around) Hotel Castle CV, Tokushima Prefecture Checked in and headed to my room. I’m excited by the spaciousness of the room! At the time, the weather forecast for Tokushima City was rain. So I’m staying for three nights. There’s a laundry service and a convenience store nearby. This is the best! This is roughly what I’ll be doing today. I traveled just under 150km. Tomorrow I’ll start preparing for the pilgrimage. I plan to do a little sightseeing in Tokushima City and the surrounding area. I’ll take a quick stroll tonight. I’ll fill my stomach at Matsuya. I’m going to bed. Good work today.
