日本海を望む約60kmの海岸線を走る「宗谷サンセットロード」。天塩町から稚内市まで続くこの道は、夕日の名所として知られ、晴れた日には海の向こうに利尻富士が美しく姿を見せます。
道沿いには風車が立ち並び、北海道らしい広大な風景がどこまでも続きます。海と風、そして広い空。時間がゆっくり流れるような、静かなドライブが楽しめます。
特におすすめの時間帯は、夕方。日本海に沈む夕日が海面と風車をオレンジ色に染め、まさに「サンセットロード」の名にふさわしい景色が広がります。

Soya Sunset Road is a scenic coastal route about 60 kilometers long, running along the Sea of Japan from Teshio to Wakkanai.
On clear days, you can see Mt. Rishiri across the sea, creating a calm and open landscape.
Wind turbines stand along the road, and the wide sky and ocean stretch as far as you can see.
It’s a quiet drive where you can simply enjoy the view and the sound of the wind.
The best time to visit is in the evening, when the setting sun colors the wind turbines and the sea in warm orange light.
