長浜城 豊臣秀吉の出世城 滋賀県 Nagahama Castle 2025
Today, I’m heading to Nagahama Castle in Shiga Prefecture. Nagahama Castle is famous as the first castle built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi. I’m heading to Nagahama Station on the Hokuriku Main Line. Nagahama Castle can be seen from the station’s west exit. There’s glass art of Hideyoshi. Nagahama Castle is about a 5-minute walk from the station. It ‘s now maintained as Toyo Park. In 1573, Oda Nobunaga defeated the Azai clan. He then bestowed upon Hideyoshi the Northern Omi region as a reward for his service. In 1574, Hideyoshi built a castle in Imahama on the shores of Lake Biwa. At this time, the area’s name was also changed from Imahama to Nagahama. It’s said that Hideyoshi chose Nagahama Castle as his residence because he valued water transportation on Lake Biwa. There’s a stone monument marking the site of the castle’s main keep. First, I’ll stroll around the castle area. There are stairs, so I’ll take them. Cherry trees are planted around the castle. Nagahama Castle is also famous as a cherry blossom viewing spot. There’s a stone monument, so I’ll go and check it out. It seems that remains of a stone wall were discovered here in the past. There’s also a stone monument near Lake Biwa. This is the site of a well called Taiko-ido. I’ll go to the remains of the castle tower base. There’s a stone statue of Hideyoshi. In front of me is the stone monument of “Okane,” who was sacrificed as a human sacrifice during the construction of the castle. There’s a stone monument for Nagahama Castle. After walking around the area, I head to the castle tower. The current castle tower was rebuilt in 1983. Near the tower is a monument marking the boundary of the Nagahama domain. From the tower, I can see Mount Ibuki in the distance . You can also faintly see Chikubushima Island. This is the foundation stone of Nagahama Castle’s stone wall. Next, I’ll walk from the east exit of the station towards the castle town. I soon came across a stone monument marking the remains of the outer moat. The remains of the main gate. The castle town atmosphere still remains. I head towards Daidouji Temple. Here is the relocated main gate of Nagahama Castle. The relocated main gate of Nagahama Castle. It is now the kitchen gate of Daidouji Temple. Let’s take a look from the back. The main gate of Daidouji Temple was built in the Edo period. It is said that the main hall was a relocated building from the former Fushimi Castle. The adjacent hall is also an Edo period building. A short walk away is the back gate of Nagahama Castle, which was relocated. It is now the front gate of Chizen-in Temple. Thank you for watching.

投稿ありがとうございます。長浜城には一度も訪れたことがないので参考になりした。あの秀吉が最初に築いたお城ですので一度は訪れてみたいですね。復元天守ですが素晴らしい作りをしていますね。来週もよろしくお願い致します。
