北海道北東部遠軽町丸瀬布の大平荒川線にひっそりとある「大平風穴」、道路工事中に斜面を崩して偶然発見された。その「穴」からは冷風が放出されているが、どこから風が来てるかは調査中とのこと。大平高原牧場は「火砕流」と呼ばれる現象が生みだしたなだらかは草原。以前は酪農家の生活があり、小学校などもあったそうだが、現在では約400haの牧草地だけが広がっている。
The Taihei Wind Cave was discovered by chance during road construction. There is a hole in the bushes beside the road, and cold air is escaping from it, but it seems that investigations are currently underway to determine where the wind is coming from. The Taihei Plateau Ranch is a gentle grassland created by a phenomenon known as a pyroclastic flow. It used to be home to dairy farmers and even an elementary school, but now it is just a 400-hectare pasture.
