The settlement is formed on a steep slope, with a height difference of approximately 390 m within the settlement.

急傾斜地に集落を形成されており集落内の高低差は約390m
集落の起源は明らかではありませんが、平家の落人伝説や開拓伝承などが残っています。
江戸中期から昭和初期に建てられた民家や、一つひとつ積み上げた石垣と畑など、なつかしい風景が残っています。
