Welcome back to Early Packed. Come along and join my adventure. Come on. Come along. Good morning. Today’s day 13. Oh my. Finally, our first port day. Hooray. Gonna get off the ship today. So, it is what is it? It’s 5 5:13 a.m. I went down to the uh Crown Lounge, got some coffee. It was busy in there already and uh there’s a lot of people out already. So, the time changed. People are really up early. So, anyway, looking forward to that. I think I’m going to go out uh outside and watch us come into uh port. So, that should be fun. So, big day today. Going on an excursion, an all day excursion. I Okay, full disclosure. I’m almost embarrassed to say this, but I have zero clue where I’m going today. I have no idea what this excursion is going to do, where we’re going, how long it’s going to be. Um, someone organized it and I’m like, I got to do something. I’m going this far. So, I’ve done zero research. I can’t believe I invented this, but I have no idea where we’re going or what we’re doing. So, hopefully hopefully I’m sure it’ll be amazing. So, I’m looking forward to it. Oh my gosh, my husband’s going to die when he sees this. I can’t believe I admitted this. So, it’s going to be an adventure for sure. So, let’s go see uh what we find today. Bye for now. So, this is our current location. Says it’s 64 degrees outside. Um, and since I don’t plan anything I did not bring a jacket. I did bring a warmer sweatshirt and a sweater. So, um, hopefully hopefully that works. Oh my gosh. I swear I’m going to change the name of this channel of do don’t do what I do. to the opposite because I can’t believe I uh some of the things that I do. All right, let’s go upstairs, see what’s going on. So, I guess there’s quite a few people out here, I tell you. Look how pretty. We’re close to land. Oh, so beautiful. I can’t wait to get to the back of the ship to see. It looks incredible. Wow. Amazing. Look how beautiful. This is so pretty. Let’s go over here cuz we’re over by land now. Hence all the people over this way. Wow, this is amazingly beautiful. I can’t believe day 13 and I’m just coming up here to see the sunrise. Look at all the people. How pretty. Look how amazing. Look how pretty. I can’t believe I’ve been up every morning and have not come upstairs to like watch this. I’m like kicking myself every day now cuz I’ve been up. Look at all the ships out. Little boats boats out there. So pretty. This is what cruising life is all about. Oh, beautiful. Beautiful. I’m ready for breakfast. I’m so hungry. How pretty though. Lot of people out. Definitely worth coming out for. Even though I am secretly freezing, just saying it’s going to be a long day for me, I think. Hopefully it warms up and the sun comes out. So, I came into the fitness area cuz it was so cold outside. See, I was down there outside. So, I came inside. Woods are a little dirty. It’s beautiful. This poor guy is riding on the treadmill and he’s the very kind. He said I’m not bothering him. But all right, there’s the port. a lot going on there. I can see the buses lining up waiting for us. So, we are just docking here. Saporro. Got a lot going on at this port. They have all the buses lined up. It is $25 for a round trip bus ticket into the city. So they do charge you but yeah not a lot going on in this port. So so we have to take off our C pass card, our passport and a customs declaration that we had to fill out. And looks like people are just getting off now for their excursions first. And this is where they’re lining up to do their customs. Now, we did our face toface immigration, so we don’t have to do that. But this is just customs if you have to declare anything. Of course, there’s a EMS already down there. So, these look like more of your port excursions right now. So, let people off the ship. Thankfully, it seems like it’s starting to warm up a little bit. These are taxis that are lined up. You need a taxi. So, it’s fun. It’s funny because the lady who is organizing uh the excursion, she asked if I could um kind of be not in charge, but just kind of keep an eye out on a small group, make sure no one strays away and everything. And my husband my husband laughed. He goes, “She obviously has no clue who you are.” He goes, “You better tell her you can’t do that. He has no faith in me. I’ll probably get lost myself. I’ll need them to find me.” All right. I’m looking forward to this. We’ll see you soon. All right. Made it off. The process off was super easy. And uh I have a great group, so it’ll be fun. Look at the ship. It was super easy. Customs was super easy. Boy, they make this so easy. Oh, getting on. So cool. We got a great big bus, I tell you. Kim organized this and she is unbelievable. I can’t believe she did this by herself. Made it to our first stop. Leatoya, what a beautiful day. I was so worried it was going to be cold. Let’s look how beautiful this is. So, see this is where I miss Alan because he could tell you what this is like all about and I just I don’t have all the information. Basically, this lake was uh made out of from a volcano when it erupted. Let’s look. Oh, pretty. It’s very foggy. Look how pretty it is. So, this was our first stop. That’s some really nice solo people on this cruise, too, on this excursion. So, it’s been really enjoyable. So anyway, so far so good. Let’s go check out. They have a little store in here. We’re not here that long. It’s only like a 20 minute stop. So let’s go see what else we can find. So if this right there So I couldn’t figure out why this cord was someone I thought that was someone’s tripod. Well, I was looking and it’s actually they supply it for you. So, it’s free to use that they have that on there. I thought that was actually pretty cool now that the sun’s starting to come out. So, they have little sides that you could take your picture with. Very good. Let’s go see what the shop looks like inside. Oh, they have little helicopter rides. All right. Well, so they got a lot of different chocolates and candies. I just have no idea. Look at the fun vending machines. Lots of cool vending machines. Look at them. Of course. now. So, we are going up as a group and then we’re going to have lunch. So, that’ be cool. If you’re curious as to how much the ropeway cost, that’s how much it is. Look how pretty. Let’s get in our train. Right. Please refrain from talking in a loud voice when you get into the gondola. Thank you for traveling on the Mount Usu ropeway today. The ropeway travels a distance of 1,370 m to Usu Summit Station in 6 minutes. Please be careful as the gondola may swing during the ride. Mount Usu is located inside Shiku Toya National Park. In 2009, the Lake Toya and Mount Usu area was certified as Japan’s first global geopark in the recognition of its international significance of geological heritage. In the year 2000’s eruption, approximately 15,000 people received evacuation orders. after eruptions in 1910 [Music] with fireworks displays and fine cuisine. Now it is attracting worldwide attention as a hot spring resort. Mount Usu Terrace, an observation deck overlooking Lake Toya and Mount Shawa Shinsza, is on the right side of Usu Summit Station. There are private seats and sofa seats on this observation deck. Look how pretty. And they have all this cool seating up here, so you could sit and just enjoy the view. Look how fantastic. Oh, they have these little chairs out here, too. Look how pretty. And that’s like Toya again. It’s huge. Toya. Very pretty. We’re up high. All right, made it to the top. Look how pretty. So, we are going to go explore a little bit and then we are going to go meet for a group lunch. That should be interesting. No clue if I’m gonna find something to eat. I know. I think it had something to do with like noodles. There might have been some shrimp in there. I’m not an adventurous eater and I am not a big seafood eater. But hey, we’re going to give it a try. I’m following this path and I have no idea. I’m just kind of following people. I have no idea where I’m going. Oh dear gosh. And I’m supposed to be like in charge of keeping track of everybody. Oh, there’s another viewing area. All right. So, let’s go down this way. It’s actually a perfect day today. I was worried that it was going to be too cold, but it’s actually very beautiful. Perfect. Thank you. pretty. Here comes the gondola that we took up. So, we’re getting ready to take it back down. They pack it very full, too. I mean, it was jam-packed. Let’s see if this one’s just as full. They leave every 15 minutes, so Yeah, that one’s just as full. They have here pretty up there. Very nice. [Music] [Music] Time for lunch. I’m so hungry. I really fingers crossed I find something. I’m sure I’ll find something. All right, let’s go eat. Birds are noisy. This tour has been so organized. It’s been such a pleasure. And the people, I’ve met some really, really nice people. It’s been so enjoyable. All right. Oh, here’s the uh oils that they were talking about. Oh, the restaurant’s up here. You have to go in this little market and then up the steps. Thank you. That’s our tour guide. She’s great. All right. So, I don’t know what’s going on, but look how cool they have all of these table set up. All these chairs. That’s cool. It’s just a whole row. This will be interesting. I’m not sure what this is, but look at that. Oh boy. So, let’s try it out. Uh, first thing I notice is no forks. Not sure how that’s going to work. Uh, am I embarrassed to ask for a fork? Maybe. Oh my goodness. Okay, let’s dig in. Someone was brave enough to ask for forks and everybody start raising their hands. She’s coming around with forks. All right, so we’re going to see a ninja show. And to be honest, I have really no clue what else we’re doing, but it looks pretty cool. [Music] Oh, there’s actually the real people. [Music] There you go. [Music] There’s a ninja show. It’s a comedy show. Outdoor action show. Oh, this looks really cool. [Music] How cool. People are going up to take their picture. That’s fun. Uhoh. Little star action. So, this is where we’re at. and I have no idea how to say it or anything like that. So, you’re on your own to read it. So, we’re headed to the ninja show first. Oh, look at this. This place is big. How pretty. [Music] It’s packed in here. Jesus. Excuse me. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] I don’t know. [Music] Oh, [Music] [Music] [Music] [Laughter] [Music] Push it off. [Applause] [Music] Roundow [Music] [Music] All right, I guess we’re going to see a cultural showdown. [Music] That did the show was a little interesting. Oh boy. I liked the uh sound effects. Couldn’t tell you what word that they said or what it was about. So, when we went in, they give you these little piece of paper, and I had no idea what that was for. I guess at the end of the show, you’re supposed to put money in it, and you ball it up, and then you throw it on stage. I didn’t realize that’s what that was, but a bunch of people, you know, threw put money in it. Threw it on the stage for the actors. Interesting. [Music] So coming into the show, they give you a bag and you have to put your shoes in the bag so you don’t wear shoes in here. So that’s kind of cool. [Music] [Applause] What’s your name? [Music] Hello. [Music] See you. [Music] All [Music] for this. So, the shows were good. I couldn’t tell you what they I have no idea what they were about, but they were entertaining. It’s kind of interesting going listening to another language and just figuring out. They do give you like story boards in English to let you know what the story is about, but uh it’s really cool. We’re headed back. We have about 15 minutes and then we got to head back to the bus. So, just take a last minute photos on the way there. Look how pretty this is here. So, very pretty. 25 minutes left, right? Yeah. I can’t say many languages. Do you speak Korean? Yeah. I had a lot of conversation on the ship with the Korean people. Well, we only saw two shows and we didn’t get to go into any of the shops or anything. So, we really didn’t do a lot here, so I don’t know what all is entail, but looked like a really cool place. [Music] So, we made it to the hot springs. But this place is packed. Holy cow. So, let’s go see. But this is like really stinks. So, look how many way people are here. We’re going to do a group photo real quick. as they go explore. All right, let’s go. You can see the little exhaust. You need to listen what I’m saying to you. There’s a boatload of buses down there, too. Hey, all backed in. That’s professional. I mean, that’s all flat. This is not what I thought it was going to be like. No, you’re fine. It’s actually not at all like I thought it was going to be. I don’t know why, but all the people’s all the way over there, too. You can see the uh steep coming off. There’s a lot of different pathways. People go a lot of people going up. A lot of people going down. I only have 30 minutes. So, I want to take I don’t want to take a strenuous path. Let’s uh let’s go down. Let’s check it out. Oh, this is a You go down and you go up. This has been a long long day. I mean, it’s a 10-hour excursion. We basically hit a lot. We just basically hit all the highlights of everything. It just a little bit at each place. Um, so it was super interesting. I’m so glad that I did this just uh get a feel for this city. And there’s been a lot of amazing people I met on the on the cruise and even on the excursion. They’re super nice and I even got a couple subscribers. They was just so supportive of me and uh I hope I don’t let them down when they see my videos. So, I was super excited. But yeah, so many nice people. So, it’s been such a pleasure. Look how pretty. Stinks, but it’s pretty. We have all these nice little pathways. The smell is strong. Let’s go walk down that way. [Music] I just got to make sure I don’t wander off too far cuz I got to be back at the bus. That’d be very bad if I get left behind. People putting stuff over their face. I told you. I told you it’s stuck. Look at the little kids. Now I got to go back up. All right. I think they’re trying to time it right for sunset. However, it’s been overcast all day, so I don’t think we’re even going to see a sunset, but we will uh we’ll see. So, made it down to the bottom. Pretty cool. like seeing all the uh steep coming off. I wonder I’ll have to find a sign. Wonder if they tell you how hot that is. Cool. Oh, here it is. Said 80° C. Wow, that’s smoking hot. So, that was worth the walk down there. Definitely walk to the end. Uh, it’s worth the climb back up. So, all right. I still have to go up another second hill. It’s very interesting seeing nose all the different cultures and I don’t know just this trips made me happy. I look forward to uh the second part of it when Allan comes and we get to explore together my husband. So it’ll be fun. So, here’s all the different trails you could hike. All the different the I can’t even say the name to Toya National Park. I stopped to use the restroom. I got to figure out how to use the toilet. Oh my. Oh, you’re not supposed to sit. You’re not supposed to stand on it. graphics. Okay, let’s figure this out. [Music] So, it’s 6:30 p.m. and we are staying the night here in Saporro. So, a lot of people are just getting back now. The bus is coming in. Good evening. Wrapping up day 13. This cruise has gone. It’s actually gone pretty quickly. Uh C days could have been a little long uh here and there, but it’s uh overall going pretty quickly. Fantastic day today. Oh, I had such a great time with the excursion. Um got to see a lot of things. I’m so glad that um Kim organized that and she did a fantastic job. Holy cow. Uh we went to so many different places and got to see a bunch of stuff. We didn’t spend a ton of time at a lot of places, so it kept things really moving. Um but boy was that enjoyable. And met the nicest people there. So nice. and I met so many people that are like supporting my channel and I’m just so forever grateful for you guys um for doing that. So, it’s just uh a lot of really nice people. Uh so, that was a lot of fun. Uh I came back, we got back, it’s what 5 6:30 now. I got back uh had dinner and I’m like I’m ready to crash. I’m ready to go to bed. Just relax. So, that’s my plan. uh plans tomorrow. We we’re staying the night in Sapora, so we have the same day tomorrow. Um I don’t know what I would do tomorrow. And you got to buy a there’s really no port area. You have to buy a bus ticket. I think it’s $25 round trip uh to take you into the city, I guess. I don’t know where the heck they drop you off at, but so I probably won’t do that. I have um I’m gonna do the uh rip cord, you know, the ifly, the indoor skydiving um and the north star. So that’s my big plans for tomorrow. So I’m not sure what else I’ll do. Um other than that, that’s it. So we will touch base with you in the morning. Bye for now. Thanks for joining me on my excursion in Saparro. I wanted to thank everybody on my last video. I asked you to help me reach my goal of 1,000 subscribers and holy cow did you guys come through. I crushed that goal. So, I want to thank each and every one of you who subscribed and I want to thank all my current subscribers. I am so grateful to each and every one of you. I am really determined to start to try to make some good quality videos for you. I’m learning. I appreciate everyone’s patience. Um, but I’m having a lot of fun with it. So, anyway, look forward to my next video of the last days on my Trans-Pacific cruise. And as always, live the life of your dreams. And bye for now.
Day 13 of my solo transpacific cruise on the Ovation of the Seas— and it’s our first port day! 🎉
I joined a full-day private excursion in Sapporo, Japan that a fellow cruiser organized… without knowing where we were going, what we were doing, or how long it would take. 🙈 But wow, it turned out to be one of the most unforgettable days of the trip!
☕️ Early start, coffee in the Crown Lounge
🌅 Stunning sunrise as we arrived in port
🚌 Bus ride into the heart of Hokkaido
🌋 A visit to Mount Usu and the amazing Lake Toya
🍜 A cultural lunch experience (no forks 😅)
🥷 A ninja show
♨️ Hot springs and volcanic steam vents
💬 Making new friends, building my channel, and laughing at myself along the way
I’ll be honest — I wasn’t the best group leader (I almost lost myself) 😂 but this spontaneous day in Japan reminded me what adventure is all about.

Looks like a great excursion! We love sunrises and sunsets on cruises. I guess the downside of tours are that you can’t really choose when to stop (because those shops after the shows look cool). Thank you for sharing your day.😊
