【東京→徳島】自販機しかない激安フェリーで18時間の船旅、値段は安いけど…

Hey guys, it’s Yuuka! Today I’m here at Ariake Port in Tokyo. I’m hopping on the Ocean Tokyu Ferry “Ritsurin” for the first time in about six months, and heading all the way to Tokushima—it’s an 18-hour trip! This ferry actually doesn’t have a restaurant on board. You can only get food from vending machines. Kinda nervous about that, to be honest. But I’ll just enjoy this unusual ferry trip anyway! Alright, let’s go print my ticket first. *Found today’s ferry, “Ritsurin,” right away!* It’s huge! But also… it’s pouring rain. I’m seriously way too much of a rain magnet. If I can summon rain this easily, maybe I should sell a “Rain Girl Umbrella” or something. *A cursed umbrella that guarantees rain every time you bring it (no market demand).* Ariake Port feels nostalgic. Last time I came here was when I traveled from Tokushima to Tokyo. I came to this exact same port back then. And yeah… it’s still super far. Getting here is honestly kind of a mission. If I remember right, the ticket counter should be on the second floor… At least that’s how I remember it. Hope it’s not too crowded today either. *Found the ticket counter on the 2nd floor!* This way! Isn’t it impressive? I actually remembered from six months ago. *For me, that’s top-tier memory skills.* Entering my reservation number now to print the ticket. Got it printed! *Waiting room and boarding gate are on the 3rd floor.* It’s been a while since I’ve taken a long-distance ferry—so excited! Here’s what the waiting area looks like. There it is—Ferry Ritsurin! The last one I took, “Dougo,” had orange lines on the side, but this one’s lime green. Cute, right? Oh right! When I took the Ocean Tokyu Ferry before, the signal was so bad I couldn’t stream any videos. So I think I’ll download some before boarding this time. Hmm, what should I download… Oh! This girl’s videos look good. Her name’s Yuuka Suzuki. She’s pretty great, huh? I found her recently. She posts fun travel stuff and it’s super entertaining. Highly recommend! Oh no, this self-promo is getting out of hand… Yeah, this is the end for me. This is an announcement from Ocean Tokyu Ferry. We’re now beginning boarding for passengers traveling to Tokushima, Shikoku, and Shinmoji, Kitakyushu. Passengers without vehicles, please board through Gate 3 on the 3rd floor of the terminal. Thank you and have a pleasant trip. It’s boarding time, so let’s hop on the ship! Tokushima and Kitakyushu. I’d love to go all the way to Kitakyushu someday. *It’s one of the longest ferry routes—34 hours!* Maybe I’ll try that next time. People often ask me in the comments for ferry tips and advice, and there are two really important things to remember. First—buy motion sickness pills beforehand! You can’t get them on the ferry, and on long-distance routes where it rocks a lot, most people end up 🤮 like that. So yeah, definitely bring some. Highly recommend. And the second thing—check the boarding time! This time boarding started one hour before departure, but it actually depends on the ferry. During busy seasons, it might start 90 minutes earlier, and for some ferries, you can even board 2–3 hours before, and use the onboard restaurant early, too. So definitely check out my ferry videos to learn more details! Let’s become ferry experts together— and be ferry buddies! (lol) Wow, there are a lot of people driving onboard today. I wanted to bring Papa Clipper too, but he’s in the shop right now, so he couldn’t come. Next time for sure. Hello! Thank you! Here’s what the inside of the ferry looks like. I’ll show you more details later. For now, let’s head to my room. I thought there wouldn’t be many people, but there’s actually way more than last time. It’s a weekday, but still pretty packed. *More worried about my social skills than seasickness.* B-17. So colorful! *Kinda feels like I’m back at my parents’ house.* There it is—B-17. This is a women-only room. *This time I’m staying in a 2nd-class Western-style shared room.* And it’s my first time on the 2nd floor! Wow. I’ve always wanted to stay on the 2nd floor, so I’m happy! You can go up using these stairs like this. *Looks like I’ll bump into stuff at least ten times while onboard.* *First time!* It’s actually really nice here. So happy to finally stay on the 2nd floor! Ferry trips are actually kind of a hidden gem for women! There aren’t many female passengers—most are men. So booking a women-only room means fewer people and more peace of mind. It’s super safe and honestly, totally recommended. The mattress is firm too, which I like. Firm mattress, thick padding— and an extra dose of awkwardness for free. There’s no lock or anything, but you can close this curtain for privacy like this. So yeah, feels safe enough to relax here. Here’s what the inside of the room looks like. It comes with a pillow, futon blanket, sheets, and a mattress pad. There’s also a little shelf above your head. Perfect spot to keep your phone while sleeping. There’s one hanger here too. It’s September now, so it’s not hot or cold, and since I’m not wearing a jacket, I probably won’t need it today. There’s also a light down by my feet. You can turn it on and off with just one touch like this. And there’s even a power outlet. No TV this time though. Some capsule-type rooms have one right here, but not today. So, no TV for me tonight. Oh, and when I boarded earlier, they gave me “Hana Celeb” tissues! Fancy tissues—love that. That’s pretty much it for the room tour. It’s five minutes before departure, so let’s head out and watch the ship leave the port. I just heard from the announcement— because of the autumn rain front, the waves are gonna be rough tonight. Oh no… I better mentally prepare myself. I’ve gotta brace myself for 18 hours of this. The ferry’s about to depart, so I came to the observation deck to watch. *7:00 PM — The ferry finally starts moving!* Bye-bye, Tokyo! I’ll be back soon! You can barely see it, but over there— isn’t that Tokyo Tower? Whoa, amazing. From here, it doesn’t even look that much taller than the apartments. After a while, I could see Tokyo Skytree too. Getting to see both night views at once is such a bonus! And that over there is the Tokyo Gate Bridge. I’ll take a closer look from below—it’s such a cool angle. Kinda feels like I’m doing something mischievous—it’s thrilling! We’ll keep heading south through Tokyo Bay from here. That sparkling light in the distance… is none other than the dreamland, Tokyo Disney Resort! It was so bright I literally almost got dizzy for a second. And out by Haneda Airport, you can see planes taking off and landing. Next time I wanna see the ferry from the opposite view—from a plane! The view from above must be gorgeous too. The scenery was absolutely stunning. Tokyo’s skyline really never disappoints. Since there aren’t many ferries that depart from Tokyo Port, I’m so glad I got to see such a rare view tonight. I’m back from the observation deck now. I was thinking about grabbing dinner right away, but there were still quite a lot of people. So I’ll wait a bit and go eat later when it’s quieter. For now, I’ll just chill until the crowd thins out. Alright, base camp setup complete! Taking a quick break. Okay, looks like it’s less crowded now, so I came up to the vending machine area on the 5th floor, called the Ocean Plaza. But the “Kinmugi” beer vending machine I was aiming for… is out of order. Guess tonight’s gonna be an alcohol-free day. There are four main vending machines here, offering pasta, sushi rolls, dan dan noodles without soup, plus grilled offal, yakitori, and shumai. There’s even udon and soba—plenty of options! But this time, to make dinner more exciting, I brought a special secret weapon with me. A gambler’s favorite—the dice! Each vending machine menu is numbered from 1 to 9, so I’ll roll the dice twice to decide my dinner for tonight. First, let’s see which vending machine I’ll use. The dice will decide my fate. Alright, vending machine number 2 it is! Next, let’s roll to pick which menu item from number 2. Please, give me something good… Okay, here we go. Ready, and… roll! Oh? Wait—what’s this? That’s… the “drink beer” face! Well, there’s no fighting fate. That automatically makes menu number 1 the winner. *Did the dice even have that side…?* But rules are rules, so… Let’s go buy it! Vending machine number 2, menu item #1! Tonight’s dinner has officially been decided—Bolognese! Pulled a good one—lucky me! *Glad it wasn’t #6 on machine 4… seriously.* Each item has its own microwave setting, so you just press the button and it heats up perfectly. Alright then, let’s dig in! I’ve always loved Bolognese, so honestly— it already tastes good before even eating it. And yes, I managed to grab a beer too. Cheers! ~Refueling in progress~ Wait, no, hold on—this isn’t what it looks like… But hey, it’s “Ocean Tokyu Ferry,” right? So I’m going all in and drinking with full power! *Well, the room grade might be the lowest one though.* Just when I was about to eat my Bolognese, I realized I forgot something super important. I brought my own grated cheese! Last time I rode this ferry, I regretted not bringing any Parmesan, so this time I made sure not to forget. Now it’s gonna be a voyage with zero regrets—literally and figuratively! *So good I might actually take off—even though it’s a ship.* When it comes to cheese, the more you add, the better it gets. Honestly, grated cheese is a must-have for vending-machine ferry life. And here we go—adding one more layer of cheese! Extra cheese just hits different—it’s so good! Even though there’s no restaurant, the vending machine food lineup is surprisingly diverse, so it’s actually really fun. And my beer-drinking pace is… steadily increasing. Finished my Bolognese in no time! That was amazing. Seriously so good—thank you for the meal! Now I’ve come to the forward lobby. There’s no one here—it’s such a hidden spot! Lucky! Anyway, after 11 PM, you can’t buy alcohol from the vending machines anymore, so I’ll grab just one last can before it’s too late. Cheers again! Delicious. Tonight’s drinking snack—salmon skin chips! First time trying them. The package literally says “Delicious!” in big letters, so I figured—guess I have to buy it. Couldn’t resist, honestly. Let’s see if it really is that good. It’s so good!! It goes perfectly with beer! The combo of sake and salmon is so good… I could literally scream. *Don’t skip this part just because the pun’s bad, okay?* Last time there were barely any people onboard. Only about three or four people were eating in the dining area. But tonight it’s super crowded! Last time I booked a private four-person room, but this time I’m in a shared room. Still, since there aren’t many women onboard, it feels pretty comfortable and safe. I heard it was gonna be really rough tonight, but so far it’s not rocking that much. If I had to rate it from one to ten, it’s like a one right now. Maybe it’ll get rougher later? We’re currently sailing near Miura Coast, around Kamakura. Since it’s nighttime, I can’t really see much outside. *After departure, it gets completely dark outside,* *so I recommend checking out the night view early on.* Oh no… this secret spot is starting to get discovered! I better make a quick escape. Retreat! Looks like it’s quiet again, so I’m gonna explore the ship a bit. This is the entrance area. This big open space here is called the Ocean Plaza. It’s super spacious, with plenty of seats for everyone to relax. Here’s what the ship map looks like. Decks 1 through 4 are for vehicles, and I’m currently on deck 5. Deck 5 is the main area for passengers to hang out. A little further in, there are coin lockers. Since I’m not in a private room this time, it might be good to store my wallet or phone here. *Though honestly, I might lose my mind without my phone nearby.* You can use them for ¥100 a time, but the coin comes back, so it’s basically free. There’s also an information desk and a shop here. [Tokyo Departure Shop Hours]
After departure–10 PM / 8–8:30 AM /
11:30 AM–3 PM / 6–9:30 PM I’ll stop by again tomorrow. Oh no… There’s a photo spot here! Should I take one? Nah, maybe not tonight… *Was going for a “pitching pose.”* You can check the sailing map here. Our current location is Izu. I had a feeling we’d pass by Izu eventually. Look, look! They have a display of different “ship stamps.” I’ve actually been collecting these ship stamps! But looking at this, I’ve still got a long way to go. I’m gonna do my best to collect them all! If you go further in, there’s a game corner over here. There are some people using it right now, so I’ll come back tomorrow. Next, let’s head toward the bow of the ship. Beyond this door, there are guest rooms and also a bath area and relaxation space. Let’s check it out. Found the relaxation area! There are a few people here too, so I’ll come back later to take a closer look. And here’s the women’s bath. The Ocean Tokyu Ferry’s bathhouse hours are actually 24 hours! That’s super convenient and thoughtful. There’s also a coin laundry here. I haven’t used it yet, but maybe someday I will. *Ahead of this is the forward lobby—my “drinking lounge” from earlier.* There’s a vending machine here that sells amenities. If you book a private room, you get towels and toothbrushes included, but in shared rooms like mine, you don’t get any, so you have to buy them from here. But I already knew that, so I came prepared this time. Around the middle of the ship, there’s a staircase leading up to the observation deck. But it looks like you can’t go outside at night. I’ll come back tomorrow to check out the view. That’s pretty much what the inside of the ship looks like. It’s almost midnight now, so I’m gonna take a bath and head to bed soon. Back in my room, getting ready for a bath. Here’s my usual setup: my personal hair dryer. I brought it because the one last time didn’t have enough power. And of course, my favorite GORON pajamas. I even made a special pouch just for them because I love them so much. GORON really has the best comfort, so I wear it all the time. Alright, heading to the bath! Just got back from the bath! Feeling so refreshed. No one else was there—it was completely empty, so I basically had the place to myself. Lucky! Now that I’m back in the Ocean Plaza, it’s totally empty. Guess after midnight it really clears out. So, the game corner I couldn’t visit earlier— no one’s there now, so I’ll go check it out while I can! So they’ve got slot machines here, and—well, not a UFO catcher exactly, but one of those games where you stick a rod into the hole. *And it actually has trendy prizes inside.* Alright, I’ll go for the first one! Hold on, gotta get into serious mode. Ah… nope, that was terrible. This is so hard! I’ve literally never won one of these before. *On to my second ¥100 coin…* *No human being could ever succeed at this!* *Now entering the third round—¥300 down.* Please please please… Ah, no luck again… Didn’t win the LoveBoo… I wanted that one. I’ve only got about ¥3,000 left on me, so if I blow it all here, I won’t have money for food tomorrow—better stop. Ugh, so frustrating. Ahh… I messed up. Should’ve just bought ice cream with that money instead. *Since that ended so poorly, I’m making it up with ice cream.* After a bath, it’s gotta be Pino ice cream. So good. We’ll arrive at Tokushima Port at 1:20 p.m. tomorrow, so there’s still about 13 hours left… long ride. We’re not even halfway yet. But if I sleep now and wake up in the morning, then hang out until lunch, it’ll probably go by fast, right? Last time I boarded in the afternoon, so it felt super long, but this time it’s flying by. Even though it’s only been like five hours so far. Oh right, when I rode the Ocean Tokyu Ferry last time, I showed my GORON pajamas for the first time! I’m wearing GORON again this time, but it’s actually an upgraded version now. So what I’m wearing today is a little different from last time. Did you notice? I changed it up a bit. That’s it for tonight’s meal. I’m gonna get a good night’s sleep, and tomorrow I’ll enjoy some more vending machine food and the scenery. Alright, heading back to my room. Good morning! Right now we’re sailing off the coast of Mie Prefecture. Looks like the clouds from the rain front are hiding the sun a bit today. It’s still only 5:50 a.m., so I think I’ll rest in my room a little longer. Good morning! It’s morning now. The ship hasn’t rocked at all since yesterday, so when I woke up, I was like, “Wait, where am I again?” Oh right… I’m on a ship! Right now we’re sailing near Shirahama, in Wakayama Prefecture. We’ve covered quite a distance overnight! Looks like we’ll be arriving in Tokushima soon. It’s 9 a.m. right now, so we’ll be docking in about four hours. Alright, time for breakfast! I’m gonna use the dice again to decide what to eat for breakfast. First, let’s pick which vending machine. Ready… go! Machine number 1! And from machine number 1… Rolled a 2 and a 1, so that makes menu number 3. Let’s go with ①-③ then! And menu number 3 on machine 1 is… Spicy hamburger curry! *This vending machine might be all hits, no misses.* It’s done heating up. Smells amazing. Alright, let’s dig in. And of course, breakfast also comes with grated cheese. This cheese seriously makes everything better. I actually thought about bringing melting cheese instead, ’cause there’s a microwave on board. I figured I could heat it and make it all gooey and nice, but it needed refrigeration, so I couldn’t bring it. Anyway, let’s eat! So good! I think I might actually love vending machine meals. I even buy them sometimes at home—like gratin and stuff. I just microwave it and enjoy—simple and satisfying. So about the Ocean Tokyu Ferry prices— I’m staying in a 2nd-class Western-style shared room, and that costs about ¥14,300 (around $95). If you travel by bullet train instead, Tokyo to Tokushima costs about ¥19,000 (around $125), so the ferry is actually cheaper. And I checked flights from Tokyo to Tokushima too— right now they’re at least ¥30,000 (about $200). Pretty pricey, right? So traveling by ferry is surprisingly cost-effective. I’ve also taken a night bus from Tokyo to Tokushima before, a private-room bus called “My Flora,” and that one cost ¥13,100 (around $87). So the ferry’s just a little more expensive. But honestly, it’s about the same price. *Still, since ferries feel more like hotels, they’re way comfier.* The next room grade above the one I’m staying in is a two-person private cabin. That one costs ¥24,310 (around $160). And then there’s the four-person private cabin I used last time. That one’s ¥26,290 (about $175). There’s also something called the “With Pet Room.” It’s for two people, and costs ¥29,260 per person (around $195). That’s the most expensive one. Someday, if I ever get a pet, I’d love to bring my dog on board too. That’s kind of a little dream of mine. *Personally, I’d honestly recommend getting a private room.* *Having your own space really makes a difference.* That was delicious. Seriously so good. I hope I can sneak in one more meal before we dock. Though time’s kinda tight… It’s 9:25 a.m. right now. It’s been 14 hours since we left port, and we’re sailing off the coast of Wabuka Beach in Wakayama. The waves are calm, and it’s super comfortable right now. I came by the onboard shop that was closed yesterday. They sell limited ferry merchandise and local souvenirs from the regions we pass through. Finished eating, and now I’m back in my room. The shop was open earlier, so I grabbed a few goodies! Here’s the Ocean Tokyu Ferry “Goshuin” stamp cards. There were two designs, and I couldn’t decide, so… I bought both. This one’s the special 50th anniversary edition, and this one’s the regular version. I ended up getting both anyway! Oh, and I also bought a Goshuin keychain. Isn’t it cute? Where should I put it? If I hang it on my bag it’ll get too crowded… So I think I’ll clip it onto my pencil case. That’s it for my little haul! I came out to the observation deck to check out the view. It’s super bright out here. That’s still Wakayama you see over there in the distance. We’ll probably reach Tokushima Port in about two hours. There’s no rocking at all today, and no wind either. It’s such a peaceful voyage. Usually when I come out to the deck it’s so windy my hair just explodes everywhere— but not today! The weather’s warm and sunny, makes me wanna bring a sleeping bag and nap out here. *But yeah… I’d probably get banned from boarding forever, so I’ll pass.* What a view! Amazing. *Ran into our sister ship “Shimanto,” arriving from Shinmoji.* *I waited for the horn… but no luck.* *Love that bold red stripe—so cool.* Back to the forward lobby again. With the curtains open at noon, the view’s even better. I just went to watch us pass another ship. It was the “Shimanto” with the red line, coming from Fukuoka. I wanna try that ferry someday, too. I kept lunch light—just soup. It’s Awaji Island onion soup. We’re sailing just south of Awaji Island right now. *I really wanna visit Awaji someday, too.* *My “to-go” list is getting kinda crowded.* All done! That soup hit the spot. About 18 hours since departure, and I can finally see Tokushima city. We’re almost there… kinda sad it’s ending. Thank you for sailing with us. We have now docked at Tokushima Port. Passengers disembarking with cars or motorcycles, please return to the parking deck on the 4th floor. Thank you for choosing Ocean Tokyu Ferry, we truly appreciate it. We look forward to welcoming you again. I took the shuttle bus and arrived at Tokushima Station. There’s a shuttle from Tokushima Port for about ¥250 (around $1.70), so getting around was super easy. Ocean Tokyu Ferry was amazing this time, too. I didn’t get seasick at all. I actually didn’t take any motion sickness pills, and still made it through the 18 hours. Might be my first long-distance ferry with zero seasickness. And the vending machine meals? The dice made choosing super fun. Bringing grated cheese was a 10/10 move, too. About the signal—common areas were mostly fine, but once I went back to my room, it basically dropped to nothing. At night till early morning, even the common areas were iffy, so yeah, signal issues are kinda inevitable. On Ocean Tokyu, the ones I haven’t ridden yet are “Shimanto” and “Bizan,” so next time I’m in Tokushima I’ll ride those two and complete the whole set! I’m determined to ride them all. Gotta catch ’em all—ferry edition. Thanks for watching all the way to the end! If you enjoyed the video, please subscribe, leave a comment, and give it a like. Bye-bye!
