女ひとり旅|600年の秘湯宿で白金豚しゃぶしゃぶの夜【藤三旅館 前編】

Hello hello! Hello! This is The Solo Bumpkin Travels. This time, I visited Fujizo Ryokan in Hanamaki City, Iwate
Prefecture, to experience retro Japan, where hot spring therapy culture remains. This is a
solo journey where I soak in the deepest bath in Japan, which has a history of approximately
600 years. I hope you will be kind and supportive. Thank you everyone for joining me on my solo journey today! Hanamaki City in Iwate Prefecture is a hot spring town
with many hot spring resorts. Among them, the hot springs where the therapeutic bath
culture remains are There aren’t that many Do you know about the hot spring therapy culture? I’m not very familiar with it There is a dream ✨ Toji is a hot spring therapy culture that has been
passed down in Japan since ancient times. It’s a little different from a simple hot spring trip
or day trip to the baths. As the kanji for “hot spring cure” suggests, It is said that repeatedly bathing in hot springs is a
health regimen that helps to condition the body. Usually, they stay for a week or a few weeks. Bring your own ingredients to the communal kitchen and
cook your own meals. I’d like to try it someday Cooking for yourself is a hassle haha In addition to the hot spring treatment area and the
inn area, Fujisan Ryokan There is an even more luxurious inn called Jusangatsu,
but this time we will be staying at the inn department and will
leave the cooking to the head chef. This is Fujisan Ryokan, a hot spring resort that has
been in operation for about 600 years. The main building is a wooden structure made of
zelkova wood. It feels like you’ve traveled back in time to the
Showa or Taisho eras. It is famous for having the deepest bath in Japan and
100% natural hot spring water. This is also an inn where the hot springs are managed
by a craftsman called a yumori. A building full of character, isn’t it? The red carpet gives it a retro feel. I was told to have it here There’s a river flowing right outside the window The staff kindly explained the hot springs and meal
times in the building to me. It’s a very quiet space I’ll bring the yukata from here. You can also get the amenities you need. Please note these amenities arer only available to staying guests. Not available to guests day trip to the baths. Apparently it was a filming location for a movie There is a shop What’s there? Local manju and cookies Hanamaki’s specialty: Miyazawa Kenji goods Mizusawa’s famous iron kettle So… Shohei Ohtani, a global superstar. Is this also a waiting room? It feels like grandma’s house! This is a photo of the old Fujisan Ryokan. From the Edo period through the Meiji period, people would stay for long periods
during the farming off-season to heal their bodies. At that time, self-catering facilities were established and it became a part of the lives of ordinary people. Let’s head to your room My room is on the third floor Oops! I almost missed the elevator. Find room 23 Occasionally, I hear a creaking sound in the hallway. It’s the good old sound of wood. It looks like this Room 23! It was pull, not push. Excuse me for interrupting The futon is already laid out. I got the cheapest room, but it was nice. The tatami mats and walls are new. What about the view? I’ll try opening the shoji screen. A key?! It was a window disguised as a shoji screen lol Wow!! I thought it would be a parking lot view,
but it turned out to be a maple view🍁 I imagined a more rundown, old room. Stylish yet tasteful Today’s weather goes well with the autumn rain. This retro frosted glass Is it an old one? Now let’s start the room tour! Ah, this is… It wasn’t the place to open it. Oops, my bad! Is this it? Face towel and Bath towel Haori and obi There’s also air conditioning The room temperature can be set to 25℃ (77℉)
and can be adjusted to your liking. There is also a TV, so you can watch
local Iwate programs. There is no toilet or sink in the room There seem to be two in the hallways on each floor. Oh? The manju from the shop is here! When you think of hot springs, you think of tea and
manju. This is also one of Japan’s unique hot spring
cultures. Well then (as you can see, there is free Wi-Fi) What I’m looking for now is the drink menu. When checking in, The staff told me “please inform the front desk in time
if you would like to have drinks for dinner.” All-you-can-drink menu… Is this it? There it is! There it is! This is it!! This too! There is doburoku It is a specialty of Tono City, which is next to
Hanamaki City. Iwate sake and Iwate wine That’s right! There was wine in Hanamaki too! They also serve draft beer, whiskey, highballs, sweet
potato shochu, and barley shochu. By the way, cute yukatas are available
for rent for women only. Huh? Ice water. They’ve already filled the kettle with water for us. yeah? Is it plugged in? It was fine, that’s good! Let’s have some tea Enjoy it by the window Here’s the problem! (Everyone was careless, hehe) Q: Why are there manju in hot springs in Japan? 1) People staying for long periods for hot spring
therapy often brought it as a long-lasting sweet treat. 2) It was a good way to replenish sugars, as soaking in hot
springs for a long time would drain your energy. 3. Ryokan hospitality So which one is it? The answer is… All of the answers were correct! Got it right? Leave a ♨️ in the comments! Solo will be grinning and enjoys reading your comments. Now that I’ve replenished my sugar, I’m off to my
first hot spring treatment. Currently, the only hot spring available to women
is “Shiraito no Yu.” 15:00~17:00 You can also use the Katsura no Yu bath any time. There is something just outside the room. Maybe a hearth? Doraemon and Cat collaboration lol Why? Shiraito no Yu and Shirogane no Yu 10 rules for hot spring bathing
(English translation will be posted in the description) The “Gin no Yu” bath with its orange noren curtain is
currently reserved for private use. Here we go! Shiraito no Yu. Solo on a hot spring retreat… Please take a look at the bathroom
in the second half of the video. “Shiraito no Yu” has a sauna The sauna user was well-groomed. The warm water was just right for the first time. I’ll explore the inside of the building then. I want to see the hot spring area. Today is like practice for toji,
the hot spring healing stay I want to experience someday. The crossroads between the Ryokan
and the Jyusangatsu. This is Katsura no Yu, which is open 24 hours a day. It seems like December is in the background. There was a shrine next to Katsura no Yu. I saw someone praying, so I thought I’d try it too. Is it dedicated to the god of white monkeys?
or the god of hot springs? The origin of Shirozaru no Yu It is said that the name comes from the legend that a
white monkey used to bathe in the water. It’s now around 5pm and they’re all sold out Are there many people who come here for day trips? Daytime bathing: Adults ¥800 (USD 5.44)
Children ¥600 (USD 4.08) Let’s go further inside Oh! This is the entrance This is “Shirozaru no Yu” We were given permission to take the photos this time,
so please look forward to it! I finally found the “Toji-bu It’s somehow very dark… Are there really any customers? It’s so quiet it’s scary But the alcohol is almost sold out. Let’s go back to today I’m totally scared lol Even the fire alarms have retro fonts Isn’t it cute? I’m home Hydration There’s nothing to do I just gazed at the mountains as it got dark. I’ll go and see the entrance hall with the lights on, but my shoes got lost
so I’ll be wearing the inn’s Crocs lol It’s really interesting when it’s dark Even the slightly cluttered management office is
charming. Because there’s nothing to do I’ll try opening the door. This ginkgo-shaped bottle opener is cool. There is nothing Killing time is over Dinner will be brought to my room at 6:00 PM. Until then, I’ll be reading up on the hot springs. This is Shiraito no Yu, the hot spring I just went to. This is the sauna I’m hungry Maybe I’ll order the grilled eggplant as a single
dish… Maybe I’ll have a beer… I’m holding back Finally it’s time for dinner! Today’s main dish is Hanamaki brand pork shabu-shabu made with Platinum
Pork There’s sashimi too! I chose a dry doburoku sake. *Doburoku: Japan’s oldest cloudy sake made from
fermented rice and koji It’s sludgy Cheers 🍶 I was thinking of trying sake, but I ended up being
drawn to doburoku. It was simple, sweet and sour, and
absolutely delicious. Today’s menu Even after reading it I don’t really understand We start with the appetizers. ITADAKIMASU!! The appetizer is the same color as the my haori. According to the menu,
it’s “Purple sweet potato sesame tofu” So delicious… What is this!? Save it for last Small side dishes include mekabu seaweed, nagaimo yam,
and salmon roe Why is Japanese food so delicious? Delight 🙌 This is an appetizer The pickles are also beautiful What is this yellow sauce? Served with mustard miso It was a vinegared dish, and
This would’ve gone well with sake. But I’m sure it goes well with doburoku too. Yummy~ Look, the doburoku is going strong. Shellfish soup It is a freshwater bivalve commonly eaten in the
Tohoku region. Especially popular in Akita and Iwate. Mussels are saltwater so they’re a little different. Let’s have the main course now Turn on the heat and heat the broth Waiting I wonder Actually, today’s dish is burdock root soup stock. It has a nice aroma of burdock and dashi. Ah, it feels like home. It smells like autumn Use chopsticks for raw meat OMG It looks so delicious Boil the vegetables too Is everyone’s stomach growling? Oops! I almost got the chopsticks wrong Let’s blow on it and take a bite This required rice The rice is “Hitomebore” from Hanamaki This must have been a yellowtail It’s not yet the season for winter yellowtail It was tasty enough I ate it all! Thank you for the meal!! so I’ll call to have it cleared. Oh? Sudden brain training Dessert was apple pie and kiwi
(I ate the kiwi before taking the photo though…) (I don’t think they’ve found out)
