【食+観光フルコース】50代ひとり旅!感動の奄美大島旅 ✈️ 王道コースで満喫する3日間

A three-day, two-night trip to Amami Oshima. I’m currently at Osaka International Airport (Itami Airport) for my trip to Amami Oshima . The reason I decided to go to Amami Oshima this time was because I was searching for a good deal. I found this deal: 20,000 yen off for touring two islands in the Amami Archipelago. It even came with a 5,000 yen coupon. Despite my doubts, I thought there couldn’t be a better deal, so I decided to go to the Amami Islands (^^). I’m a sucker for deals. I head to the boarding gate. Before deciding on Amami, I had no idea what it was like. I did extensive research before going, and it seemed like a quiet, rustic place to enjoy the abundant nature and relaxing island time. I did thorough research this time as well, and planned a route that would take in the natural beauty, gourmet food, and tourist spots. Until recently, I didn’t even know that Amami Oshima was in Kagoshima Prefecture . My head is now filled with knowledge about Amami Oshima (^^). I’m really looking forward to what kind of trip this time will be. I wonder if it’s that plane? There are direct flights to Amami Oshima from Itami Airport. This time, I managed to get an upgrade on the day, and my seat was J Class! It was an additional 2,200 yen. Off we went! My seat was in the very front, so it was spacious. Departure. About Amami Oshima: Amami Oshima is an island south of Kagoshima Prefecture, located exactly halfway between mainland Kyushu and Okinawa. Its warm climate, beautiful ocean, and unique culture make it sometimes referred to as the “Galapagos of the Orient.” The island’s surface area is 712 km², making it the second-largest of Japan’s outlying islands, after Sado Island (approximately 854 km²). To give you an idea, it’s slightly larger than Tokyo’s 23 wards (approximately 627 km²). We take off. It’s an hour and 45 minutes to Amami Oshima. Sky blue. Coffee under a beautiful sky is exceptional. So beautiful. The gradation of ocean colors caught my eye. We’re almost at Amami Oshima Airport. Kikaijima, I think. I’ve been a bit of a rain man lately. The weather was perfect (^^). We landed safely. It was a beautiful, clear day. I’m looking forward to seeing the ocean first (^^). It has the homey atmosphere of a regional airport. It’s a historic airport, having opened in 1964. Arrival. Class J seats are great, as expected. I had a completely refreshing flight. Hoping I can get an upgrade on the day. The tropical air. My first time on Amami Oshima. First, I rented a car. I booked it through the JAL Dynamic Package. It was 5,000 yen for 2 nights and 3 days. Since it was my first time, I was looking around a lot ^_^;. A World Heritage Site! Amami Oshima in July 2021. It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site as “Amami Oshima, Tokunoshima, Northern Okinawa Island, and Iriomote Island.” The escalator on Amami Oshima is on the left. That’s it! There are rows of shochu bottles. Amami Oshima’s is “brown sugar shochu.” When the Amami Islands were returned to Japan from U.S. military rule in 1953, a special notice was issued under the Liquor Tax Law, allowing its production exclusively in the Amami Islands. It’s a wild, magical word. I’ll ponder it on this trip. I’ve reached the exit. Isn’t there something like this? I wish they’d make it “imo-re” (^^). “Imo-re” means “welcome” in the Amami dialect. Where is the rental car driver? I see some people who look like them around there. Is that over there? Amami Oshima Airport. Something like that. It had a rustic feel. The surroundings were filled with a tropical atmosphere. The rental car I used this time was J-Net Rental Car. The rental car was about five minutes away. It was within walking distance. A typical old man’s response: My luggage was heavy. My photography equipment has increased every year, and my backpack is getting heavier. ^_^;. It cost 3,300 yen. I added an additional three-day Wide Compensation Plan. This is my partner this time: a Toyota Yaris. It’s easy to drive. First, I went to Tomori Beach. It’s about four minutes away. Tomori Beach is one of Amami Oshima’s most scenic beaches. It ‘s known for its beauty, so much so that it’s also called the “Blue Angel.” It’s the same blue as Miyako Island and Onna Village. I’ve seen so many beautiful oceans. It’s around here. Where is the parking lot? This road? It’s narrow. Am I on the wrong side? No, it’s here. It looks like the parking lot is around here. From here, it’s just a short walk. You can see tropical plants in this area. Ah, there’s a parking lot a little further ahead. There are toilets and a place to wash your feet. Now we’re facing Tomori Beach. Tomori Beach. It feels so blue. So beautiful! Blue Angel. It was too beautiful. Let’s get closer. The sand is so smooth, white, and beautiful. It’s so pretty. There are seven rip currents here, so you can only put your feet in. This is great. Awesome. In the water. Fish are swimming. I really want to snorkel, but I’m afraid of rip currents. The gradation at the edge of the water is beautiful. I’m so glad the weather was nice (^^). After this, I learn about the harshness of nature. The tropical atmosphere is perfect. Hermit crabs . There were lots of small creatures on the beach (^^). They were so fast! Crabs? So much fun! I wanted to stay here forever. It was an exciting place right from the start on Amami Oshima (^^). Life is bare. This was the first step to experiencing this phrase. I returned to the car. I’m sure there’s a place to wash your feet. Here. There’s a gecko! I saw geckos quite often during this trip. It’s great that it’s free to use (^^). Next, I’m going to learn a bit more about Amami Oshima. My next destination is Amami no Sato. The navigation system this time was quite good. It’s about 11 minutes from here to Amami no Sato. The surrounding area is filled with tranquil scenery. Arrival. Special JAL Pack Option. This time, I used the JAL Pack Option. Admission is 100 yen. It ‘s quite spacious. There’s also the Tanaka Isson Memorial Museum, but this time I’m only visiting Amami no Sato. Amami no Sato. The admission fee for Amami no Sato alone is 310 yen. If you add the museum, it’s 630 yen. The space is huge! Right in front of me is the Event Plaza. What I wanted to see was the General Exhibition Hall. The exhibits are divided into zones , organized into four themes. It’s authentic. This is the “Sea Road” zone. Right in front of me is the traditional wooden ship “Ainoko.” This ship was crafted by an Amami boatbuilder. It gives you a sense of the ancient sea travel and boat culture. It’s a space where you can feel the spirit of Amami from the sea. What is this? Here, the year-round Amami theme is introduced . I wonder if it’s used in the island’s traditional performing arts. There were many fascinating exhibits in this area. Wow! This is the “Island Road.” It features replicas of old Amami houses and architecture. Sumo? Where do they play? I wonder what life was like around here back then? There are scenes of farming and daily life. They even recreated the process of thread-making using banana plants. What’s next? This is the “Forest Road.” Life-size displays of the trees and creatures that cover the island are on display. I’d love to see a real Amami rabbit. Here, a diorama (3D model) recreates the forest’s transition from dusk to night and dawn. This is the “Play Garden,” a relocated traditional house. It evokes a sense of island life from the good old days. Wow ! An old man from the island was there. It was so well-made, I could have mistaken it for the real thing (^^). This area was an introduction to the Amami Islands. On this trip, we’ll also be visiting Yoron Island. There was also a restaurant on the second floor. This was the former site of Amami Airport (old airport). The old airport opened in 1972, but its runway was only 1,200 meters long. The current Amami Airport opened in 1991, and the old airport ceased operations and became the current Amami Park. From here, it was time for gourmet food (^^). There was a gelato shop nearby, so we headed there. If we had had more time, we would have liked to take a more leisurely tour. The drive was pleasant. The Amami blue sparkled on the left. Is this it? The Amami blue sparkled on the left. La Fonte. La Fonte is a handmade gelato shop directly operated by Izumi Farm. Everything from the ingredients to the finished product is handmade in the store’s kitchen. Prices are as follows: Double 600 yen. Double 600 yen. The store was full, so we sat on the terrace. I chose La Fonte’s milk and salt flavors. The flavor and taste were simple, allowing me to “taste the ingredients themselves.” Ten varieties of gelato are selected every morning. They melt quite quickly. The shop is also listed as one of Tabelog’s Top 100 Restaurants. They ‘re particular about their ingredients, so everything looks delicious. The salt flavor is made with sea salt from Tahara, Kasari Town. It’s milky with a subtle salty flavor, perfect for adults. Apparently , the sea salt is handcrafted together with the producers. The gelato, which made the most of the flavor of the ingredients, was delicious. Next, I headed to a famous chicken rice restaurant. There’s limited parking here, so I might have to wait. My next stop was Hisakura, a famous chicken rice restaurant. It’s about a five-minute drive from my current location. Chicken rice was originally created to entertain officials of the Satsuma domain. Its roots lie in its origins as a form of entertainment cuisine. It’s now a staple of home cooking. The parking lot is spacious. Hisakura. Be careful, as they don’t have fixed closing days. I’ll be using the JAL Pack option again this time. There’s a snake-shaped capsule machine. Snakes are scary (><). The interior of the restaurant looks like this. It can accommodate 164 people. The menu includes yakitori and other dishes in addition to chicken rice. This is the drink menu. Chicken rice: 1,430 yen. It’s a JAL Pack set, but I think the contents are the same. Chicken, shredded egg, shiitake mushrooms, pickled papaya, and tankan tangerines. Condiments like ginger. Local chicken soup. They have a chicken farm about 1.5 km from the restaurant. It’s a cross between Nagoya Kouchin and Satsuma Jidori chicken. And then there’s rice. You can have refills of rice and soup. They have a recipe pamphlet, so I’ll follow that. The recipe is simple. First, add the white rice, then add the ingredients one by one. A generous amount of clear, golden chicken soup was poured over the bowl. The soup had a wonderful aroma. There was enough for two bowls, including the toppings. It was like Amami Oshima-style chicken chazuke (^^). You might need a spoon. The moment you take a bite, the gentle umami flavor of the soup fills your mouth (^^). The flavor slowly seeps in. Apparently, brown sugar shochu is also added to the soup, which may add to the depth. A flavor that seeps in. This is only my first time in Amami, but the soup is simply delicious. 200 points! I want to take some soup home with me! It was a meal that made me want to eat it again right away. I still have time, so I’ll go to one more place. Next, I’ll go to an island tofu shop. It’s about 13 minutes from here. Something looks ominous. It’s about 13 minutes from here. I’m heading west after arriving at Amami Airport. My final destination for today is Naze. I’ve arrived at the inn in Naze where I’ll be staying tonight. The tofu here is made using “bittern,” which contains minerals extracted from Amami’s seawater. It’s an island tofu shop. It’s completely packed. There was a long wait, so I gave up. Is today a national holiday? I’d like to try again someday. I head to the hotel. The weather has worsened. Weather forecasts are always wrong… I was planning to go see the sunset today (><). I’m approaching Naze. There are a few famous chain stores here and there. Oh no! It’s pouring rain. And the sunset. I’ll have to change my plans a bit… I arrived at the hotel . My hotel for the night is the West Court Amami WA Terrace. It’s a stylish hotel, so I chose it. It has a cafe on-site . It even has a large public bath. Ohtani is waiting for me. It looks like it’s going to rain forever (><). I’ll relax in my room for a bit, then I’ll walk around Naze. The rain has let up a little. Surprisingly, it looks like it’s going to stop. Let’s explore Naze while we can. Are you all staying multiple nights? Naze, with its excellent natural harbor, has long flourished as a trading and fishing hub. During the Edo period, it became a sugarcane collection center under the control of the Satsuma Domain. After a period of U.S. military rule after the war, it was returned to Japan in 1953. It is now the central city of the Amami Islands. The rain has stopped. The famous Yanigawa Street sign comes into view. This is the main street in Amami Oshima’s downtown area. Locals call it “Yango Street.” I’ll be back at night. A cafe. I need a caffeine fix. BY THE TREE COFFEE Amami. It’s highly rated on Google, so I’ll give it a go. When I plan a trip, I always use Google to search for it. Caffeine fix. This is a specialty coffee roaster and cafe, so I’m sure the coffee is of high quality. The prices are reasonable, too (^^). An Americano was 500 yen. They had a variety of coffee beans. I didn’t try it, though. It seems like you can really taste the aroma of the coffee. There’s a Daruma doll. Apparently the street in front is Daruma Market Street. Apparently, the “Daruma Market” used to be here. Cold Brew (light roast) 600 yen. The beans are from Ethiopia. It has a strong, fruity, and vibrant aroma. The interior is inorganic, with exposed concrete and ornamental plants. The atmosphere is simple and calming. I tried it. Because it’s cold brew, it doesn’t have much bitterness or astringency. It’s refreshingly mellow. Ethiopian beans are vibrant and fruity. It was the perfect combination for cold brew. A perfect cup of coffee on an island trip. The perfect tropical coffee (^^). The coffee was extracted well, so there was absolutely no off-flavor. It didn’t feel like time was passing. This stylish, authentic cafe was fantastic. The rain had completely stopped. Next, we headed to the Gelato store. There was an arcade shopping street! That was the Tida Mall Chuo Dori Arcade. It’s the only shopping street in the Amami Islands with an arcade. I think this is it. Tacchan’s gelato. A face-in-the-mouth panel. They also serve ice cream (^^). It’s about a two-minute walk from the previous cafe. Made with Amami ingredients. JAL option activated. Using the JAL option, double the price was 300 yen. Actual price is as shown here. I’d like to choose something that can only be eaten here. It’s a tough choice. I want to choose something I can only get here. Double 300 yen, using a coupon. It’s overflowing. I chose the coral salt and mango flavors. There’s an eat-in area inside the shop. It’s a rustic restaurant with some Italian accents. There was a steady stream of customers. The mango had a very sherbet-like flavor. It had a rich mango flavor. It felt like I was eating a whole mango. As for the coral salt, the saltiness (sea salt) balances out the sweetness of the milk. It had a refreshing sweetness. It had a mellow saltiness and a light aftertaste. It’s no wonder it’s the most popular item. The coral salt is made with “Amami Coral Sea Salt.” It was always full of customers. I could tell it was a shop loved by locals. It was delicious. I recommend trying the coral salt at least once (^^). This is a shop worth stopping by when you visit Amami Oshima. Wow, just walking around Naze a little… there were so many different shops. I was planning to go see the sunset, but I changed my plans and went to Big Two . I went there to buy souvenirs and a lactic acid bacteria fermented drink called “Miki,” a traditional drink on Amami Oshima. It’s about a 20-minute drive from here. There were several Joyfull restaurants on Amami Oshima. I arrived at the Big Two Amami store. The typeface exuded power (^^). There were many tropical-looking plants. There were many sandals. These were “growing beach sandals,” which supposedly grow to fit your foot shape as you wear them. Big Two sandals. Gyosan? Apparently, they’re sandals for fishermen. They were quite heavy. Let’s go. There’s so much brown sugar! There are so many varieties. I wonder which one is best. “Kasanmochizata” is the name of a processed brown sugar specialty from Kasari Town. It’s a snack made from traditional brown sugar with a chewy texture. “Mochizata” = softer type. “Katazata” = firmer type. It was empty. I’m curious to see what kind of mochi it was. The Fukurakan was also nearly sold out. “Brown Sugar Fukurakan” is a traditional sweet passed down on Amami Oshima. It’s a mamebokkuri, a peanut-covered sweet. 130 yen. The brown sugar was sold out. There were plenty of other items, too. This is a great place to find souvenirs. The alcohol section is also substantial. They have a great selection of brown sugar shochu. A Big Two T-shirt. It looks like some kind of writing. I can’t remember. It might explode like the Orion T-shirt. Exclusive to Big Two! Are they sold anywhere but at Big Two?! I discovered the Miki section. I had no prior information, so I didn’t know which ones were the best. Prices vary. Maybe the more expensive the better? They also had this. For stamina. Half price! I couldn’t help but buy it ^_^;. And when you think of Kagoshima, you think of “Zaiho.” I also got some Miki. I wanted to look around the store a little more, but I’m about to head home. 2,436 yen. I’d like to try some Miki again when I get back to the hotel. The yellow sandals of happiness. I wonder why they’re so heavy? For strength? I head back to the hotel. Curious, I try a drink. It has a thick, potage-like texture. It’s slightly sour and tastes like yogurt. This Miki is the cheapest I’ve bought. It reminds me of sweet sake. I wonder what the other Mikis taste like. It looks like the sun is starting to shine. Let’s go to Ohama Seaside Park, a famous spot for sunsets. It’s sunny! It’s 31 minutes to Ohama Seaside Park. The sun sets at 6:30 PM, so we should make it. We’ve arrived. We can see it . Here we are! So beautiful. Wow. This place faces the East China Sea. It’s a great location for a direct view of the sun sinking into the horizon. Let’s head down to the beach. It’s a lovely atmosphere. The sunset light reflecting off the water’s edge accentuates the serene tropical atmosphere. The sea and sky are vibrantly colored. I’m glad I came. This sunset. Even a 53-year-old man like me was deeply moved. Life is laid bare. Little by little, since coming to Amami Oshima, I’ve begun to understand. Shall we head back to the car? A shower is appreciated (^^). Tomorrow, I’ll go for a feeding experience. This is beautiful. I’ve been constantly moved since coming to Amami Oshima. I’ll head back to the hotel. This might be the best sunset I’ve ever seen. I’m glad the sun came out. I’ll be staying at that hotel tomorrow. This hotel was beautiful and stylish. The cafe is also stylish. Miki’s storehouse. I’ll go for dinner. When I get back, I’ll relax in the large public bath (^^). I’m heading towards Yanigawa Street. The restaurant I’m heading to now is Kitahachi , a restaurant where you can eat island cuisine at reasonable prices. It’s about a 5-minute walk from the hotel. I can see the Yanigawa Street sign. I wanted to see the lights come on. It’s got a Showa-era retro vibe, which is nice (^^). This is it. Kitahachi. Sophisticated. Is it the Amami sea? It feels like a traditional Japanese restaurant . I wonder if it ‘s okay for first-time customers ^_^;. They only serve omakase dishes. The price is 4,000 yen (tax included). There’s no appetizer charge . All drinks are a very reasonable 500 yen. Shochu is also 500 yen! Luckily, I was able to get in without a wait. But it was almost full. Island bananas (^^). Draft beer (medium) 500 yen. The beer is delicious! It was Kirin Ichiban Shibori (^^). Here it comes. Pickled island radishes, ginger, and papaya. Island melon. Soup with seaweed and winter melon. This looks delicious. A variety of island dishes to start with (^^). The island melon is soft. It’s stewed quite well. The flavor is gentle, with just the right amount of bonito flavor. It’s an omakase ( chef’s choice) menu, so you never know what’s coming. It’s exciting. The island melon was really tasty (^^). It contains chicken as well as winter melon. I love seaweed (^^). Delicious! The aroma is lovely (^^). This soup is also very gently seasoned. So good. So soft! I wonder how long it takes to simmer it to get this soft. Delicious. A flavor that really sinks in. The restaurant has a laid-back feel. It’s a restaurant where island time flows. Yellowfin tuna and red sea bream sashimi. This is octopus. The octopus is so fresh! Vinegared miso goes well with octopus. I wonder how it goes with tuna. Apparently, around Amami Oshima and Okinawa, sashimi is eaten with vinegared miso. Delicious. This goes well. The vinegared miso is a little strong, but it’s delicious. Onions on sashimi are unusual, too. This is also delicious! It also goes well with beer (^^). In warmer regions like Amami, where fish spoils easily, vinegar and miso have antibacterial properties. Pairing them with raw fish is said to help prevent food poisoning. Deep-fried island tofu. A total assault on island cuisine. This deep-fried tofu is simmered with simmered tofu and brown sugar. It’s quite firm tofu. It’s saturated with flavor. The sweet and spicy seasoning was exquisite. Time for beer. Time for brown sugar shochu!? You can probably guess what I mean by bamboo shoots. Steamed salted pork and vegetables. The vegetables included tamarind, bamboo shoots, and bok choy. The salted pork tasted like soki. I ordered brown sugar shochu here (^-^)/. I ordered the most famous one, “Sato no Akebono.” The salted pork gave off a nice broth, and the vegetables seemed to absorb the flavor. As expected, it was delicious. The umami flavor of the bonito flakes and pork really shines. Oh. The brown sugar shochu has arrived (^^). Brown sugar shochu (Sato no Akebono). I had it on the rocks. It can also be mixed with water or soda. It has a soft , sweet taste. It’s different from barley shochu or sweet potato shochu. It’s soft and has no strong flavor. Even people who don’t like shochu should be able to drink this. The salted pork was light and refreshing. It tasted like homemade food. It’s the perfect island dish (^^). I wonder what dish it was. Fried udon. Delicious. I looked it up and it seems they use lard as the oil. The richness of lard is apparently the key to fried udon. It also has the flavor of bonito flakes. Fried udon is a local dish of Amami Oshima. I don’t usually drink shochu , but brown sugar shochu makes me want to try it (^^). I’ve been hooked on Ecchu Hangontan lately. I drink it before I start overeating. When I drink it, I feel like I can eat endlessly (^^). The rice balls have arrived. They look like thin omelet wrapped around bonito flakes. There’s a lot of bonito flakes in them. Dessert after the meal. This is “Johi Mochi”, a traditional Japanese sweet from Amami Oshima. It’s made with brown sugar, high-quality rice flour, and starch syrup. The natural sweetness of the brown sugar and the flavor of glutinous rice are in harmony. It had an elegant taste. I thoroughly enjoyed the island cuisine. You can’t go wrong with this place for a night on Amami Oshima! Now, let’s head back to the hotel. We’re back at the hotel. Today, we thoroughly enjoyed Amami Oshima. Hoping for clear skies tomorrow as well. We’ll go to bed now. Day 2. Good morning. The weather looks good again today (^^). I’m off to breakfast at the hotel now. Huh? . We’ll have breakfast at a sister hotel. The sister hotel had my favorite buffet style. They also had local cuisine. At 1,320 yen, it was good value for money (^^). We’re back at the hotel. I’ll have a morning coffee. I received a service voucher with the JAL package. It had a refreshing taste and was delicious. I’m getting ready to check out. The weather’s great! . It’s the perfect day for sightseeing! . Let’s check out. Today’s itinerary: From here, we head straight for Yadorihama Beach. Then we’ll go to nearby Honohoshi Coast and other places. We’ll head to Setouchi Town. We’ll have lunch and walk around the town. After that, we’ll go to the mangrove forest. After enjoying canoeing, we’ll head back to Naze. It’s about an hour and 10 minutes by car from here to Yadorihama Beach. Setting off. My camera settings were messed up. I fixed it. I recently bought a new camera, so I can’t get the settings right (><). There’s a long stretch of mountain road. Looking at the map, it’s mostly mountains. There were a lot of tunnels, too. The weather’s nice . Today is mostly activities, so it looks like I’ll have a blast (^^). We’ve come so far that we can see the ocean. Are we almost there? We’ll snorkel at Yadorihama Beach. I want to see some sea turtles. Are they there ? There’s an observation deck! Cape Manen Observation Plaza. Parking is free. If you go there, it looks like you can look down on the ocean. Wow. What a beautiful ocean! From here, you can get a panoramic view of Katetsu Bay. Let’s take a look across to the other side. You can see Kakeroma Island from this side. The emerald blue ocean was so beautiful ( ¨̮ ). We’ll soon be at Yadorihama Beach. The whole area is spectacular. I’m moved by the beauty of the ocean. Wow. There’s a strange place. Let’s go take a look. A utility pole. A utility pole sticking out of the water. Quite surreal. Perhaps it’s submerged. It’s a somewhat mystical place. They’re everywhere. Arrived. Which way? Maybe this way. There’s a restaurant. According to the information, there are toilets and showers (with water). Is that it? The showers are free. Let’s go. So beautiful! All the beaches on Amami Oshima are beautiful (^^). Yadorihama. Almost no one there. No shade. Nowhere to escape the sun. I’m sure I’d get quite sunburned. It’s a calm, shallow beach. You can see Kakeroma Island across the water. I heard there are sea turtles on the right, so let’s go. I looked up why it’s called Yadorihama. Apparently , it’s because this place was once used as a rest stop for sailors and travelers. It’s full of tropical plants. What kind of flower is this? I should have looked it up with Google Lens. That’s “The Scene” over there. I saw its shadow. I’m off to snorkel. I wonder if the rip currents are ok. But first, I need to get used to it. I found some fish. There are some. It’s shallow no matter how far I go. I have to be careful of rip currents. I wonder if there are any sea turtles. It’s hard to find any. There are a few fish here and there. I’ve gone quite far from the shore. I’m a beginner, so my photography isn’t stable (> <). At least I want to see some tropical fish. I'm being swept away. I 'm at my limit as a beginner. Even finding tropical fish is difficult (> <). Oh! A treasure trove of tropical fish. They're all gathered in one place. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any sea turtles. There have been many sightings here. I'm sure they're out there somewhere. I'm at the limit of my physical strength as an old man. I wonder if I can canoe. This feels good. Life is bare. I'm experiencing it. I didn't see any sea turtles, though. It was a lot of fun (^^). I took a shower and changed. For those who like things neat and tidy, the changing rooms might be a bit strict. Next, we head to a nearby famous spot. Our next stop is Honohoshi Beach. It's about a three-minute walk from Honohoshi Beach. We set off . Honohoshi Beach 's most distinctive feature is not a white sand beach, but rather a vast expanse of large, rounded stones. We arrived. There was no one there. Parking is free. It was incredibly hot that day. The beach is well maintained. There are lots of trees. You can't take the stones home. It looks like a viper might come out. If one bites you here, there's no one around, so it could be fatal (><). I don't think one will come out at this time, though. The stones are round! They're certainly all round. The stones are round due to natural erosion over many years. Honohoshi Beach has particularly rough waves, and the ocean floor topography is designed to hold the stones in place. This naturally creates an ideal environment for the stones to be rounded. A great photo spot. As we walk to the right, we come across a stone monument? Honohoshi Beach. The waves certainly look rough. Let's go down to the beach. For some reason, it reminds me of Tojinbo. "Honohoshi" is apparently named after the way the stones shine like stars when wet with the waves. I wonder how many years it takes to get to this state. The stones are hot. It's the first time I've seen such a stony beach. It's completely different from Yadorihama Beach we visited earlier. We can hear a "rumbling" sound. Let's get closer and listen. We can hear the rumbling sound when the tide recedes. The music of nature. There's something there too. Let's go. At 53 years old, I've returned to my childhood. A hollow. I think I can take some great photos here (^^). This is a recommended spot for those who want to experience nature in peace. It's time to head back to the car. Next, we're heading towards Setouchi Town. It's about 20 minutes to Setouchi Town. Setouchi Town is the number one bluefin tuna farming town in Japan. That's why we're going to eat bluefin tuna (^^). On the way, we see a view of a heart, so we'll stop there. Amami has really beautiful oceans. Is it over there? What does it look like ? It looks like a heart . Let's look at it from above. What do you think? It looks like a heart from this angle. Shall we go? That's the end of today's video. Next time on Amami Oshima Trip #2: A walk around Setouchi Town. Bluefin tuna seafood bowl. Mangrove exploration by canoe. Sea turtle feeding experience. Island cuisine at an izakaya. Heart Rock exploration. Sunset at Cape Ayamaru. Thank you for watching this far. See you in the next video! .
