【秘湯】地元民も知らない大人の隠れ湯から絶景の混浴まで、雫石の山深き湯を紹介する

[Applause] [Music] It’s really narrow. Hello. This is Hamini Channel. This time, we’ll be exploring hot springs, mainly in the cities and towns of Iwata Prefecture. Koiwai Farm is a famous tourist spot. I’m currently heading to a lodging about an hour from Takinoue Onsen Moriko. I found it by chance on Google Maps. I never knew there was a hot spring here . I headed north along Kendo Route 194 Nishiyamauchi Line . I followed the flowing stream. Since it was after heavy rain, the waterfall wasn’t narrow, but I needed to drive carefully. Once I got through Dakotonde, I came across Torigoe Falls, which must be beautiful during the autumn foliage season. It’s really high. I’m not good with heights, so I didn’t go to see it, but apparently you can observe the waterfall from above. What’s this? Wow, it’s so high, it’s scary. Something suddenly appears. I’ve come quite deep into the mountains, about 35km from Morioka. There’s a dry layer here. A road collapse in 2008 apparently forced the hot springs in this area to close for a long time. In 2019, the flow layer reopened as a guesthouse, and Takinoue Onsen was revived. It seems to be open only for day trips and overnight stays, but it seems to be popular with hikers. I take a bath. [Music] It feels nice. The view is amazing. It’s indoors, but it feels as open-air. You can enjoy a panoramic view of the breezy evening sun and the flowing river. [ Music] The slightly cloudy water is a little thick, but it has a slight tingling sensation. [Music] It feels moist and a little smooth on the skin . Above all, bathing while enjoying this spectacular view is enjoyable. [Music] Oh, the rock ice cream is the best. They apparently offer simple meals. A menu was posted. They’re closed for the winter in mid-November, due to road closures. If you’re planning on going, now’s the time . [Music] It was great. I was surprised. I wonder what it’s like over there. While it’s unclear when Takinoue Onsen was discovered, records related to it date back to the 1680s, suggesting its existence was known at that time. However, it seems to have been too remote and not widely used. It’s about 200 meters ahead, to the right. There are apparently over 100 side entrances in this area and at the river ‘s throat, resulting in a large amount of water. [Music] The sight of the policeman transforming the flowing river into a hot spring and cascading down the cliff above the waterfall is truly impressive. This is Torioe Falls, which we just passed. It says it’s there, but our destination is on the right. Further into the hot spring zone, a steamer stands silently next to a geothermal power plant. Here is the Ryukyo-so. It ‘s 100 degrees. That’s true. It’s a bit scary. They also generate electricity using geothermal energy, and the geothermal power plant and hot spring stand side by side. [Music] This hot spring lodge has been beloved by hikers and hot spring lovers since the 1920s. I found some old photos on the web. This is also lovely. It seems to have been closed for a long time, but it will reopen in 2023 and bathing will be available . [Music] There’s a bed behind the reception house, which serves as a bath. This is also a lovely, mountain-loving place. The new building smells wonderfully of wood. There seem to be no other customers. The selection is the sodium sediment hot spring. Old documents say it’s located along the Miscarriage Line, so perhaps it was changed when it reopened. Seriously, it’s really nice. I wonder why I didn’t know about this place. [Music] The bath, made entirely of wood, looks radiant. It says that carefully selected water, nearly 100 degrees, is drawn directly into the bath. Normally, you’d die, right? It’s fine. They properly regulated the temperature so that I could bathe. [Music] While this hot spring is meant to be bathed, the water was so beautiful I wanted to stare at it forever. I was surprised to find such a hole in Shizuishi. It’s a relief. [Music] I return to the log cabin where the reception is located. The view from this walkway is also amazing. This place should be more. [Music] This is a charming space where jazz is playing. Currently, it’s only open for relaxation, but there were comments suggesting that they plan to offer lodging. [Music] Thank you for your hard work. It seems like it’s just starting, so I’m sure it will continue to evolve. Ah, that’s good. [Music] It was amazing! Takinoue Onsen was a great place. Even people in Iwate probably don’t know about it. By the way, on the way here, there was a tourist spot called Hara-bu-do, where they had a famous soba restaurant called Budo-ya, but it was packed during the day on a holiday. I headed back north and continued south along National Route 46. This is still Shizukuishi Town. There’s a dam built by diverting the Shizukuishi River. There are plenty of playgrounds around here. [Music] The memorial for the tragic accident in which a Lee fighter jet collided with a JAL plane is also located around here. [Music] I heard there were cosmos flowers blooming in the Majishuenchi Park, so I took some photos. [Music] [Music] Moving west from Goku. Yado Onsen is a hot spring surrounded by large hotels. [Music] It’s starting to look like a hot spring. [Music] [Music] Of course , these are great places, but I decided to go further in . I went all the way in. [Music] Yeah, is this really okay? The road is getting narrower and narrower. A man who introduced himself as a woodcutter and emigrated from Kano Province discovered a Japanese bush warbler healing its wounds. Ah, what a cool guy. With the help of a monk with the name Kin, he developed the place into a place for the common people and took the name Kagami, a symbol of the bush warbler’s legend. Since it’s called a shop, it must have been around 729 in the Seiryaku calendar. After the war, it apparently developed into a retreat for the secluded areas along Morioka’s rapid expansion. Are we still going left? [Music] Today, there are two tracks on the Koraku Line, featuring a traditional Japanese-style shop and a relatively large inn . There used to be an indoor playground called Keji World, which recreated a beach. Is this it? We’ve arrived at our destination. It seems like it used to be a little more lively. This is true of other old hot spring towns, but even walking through them like this, it’s hard to tell if a place is open or not. [Music] [Music] It takes quite a bit of courage to enter a hot spring inn like that . The hot spring town is over. Let’s go back. Going back down the narrow road we came from, we found a spar. An inn that seems to be open for business. [Music] It feels like I’m in a hot spring. Maybe I should do a day trip. This 100% natural hot spring inn is located at the very back of the large hot spring. In addition to the space-like design, there is an open-air garden surrounded by traditional Japanese ornaments. The open-air bath is still being prepared, but they kindly allowed me to try it . The bath room is an alkaline simple hot spring. [Music] The clear water ripples. It was a warm, relaxing hot spring. [Music] Thank you. We’re back in the center of the hot spring town. The large building on the right is the Shin-Nihonkan building. I came from this way. It closed last year due to police, but a Tokyo investment company is reconstructing it and it is expected to reopen in 2026. Going further, I really like the atmosphere of the Kawaguchi Ryokan building, but unfortunately, it seems to have been a new inn with a long history, but unfortunately, it has been closed due to the owner’s obesity. [Music] The building on the left is the thriving Takeakari no Yadogawa. [Music] This modern hot spring inn also offers all-inclusive plans. It was apparently just renovated last year. I’ll drive to another place to stay. [Music] Which one did you write? Yeah. I’m sure there are many other small inns. If you know of any good ones, please let me know. The lifts are working. I’ve been wanting to go to Imayoroten Blog for a while now. [Music] I headed to Iwatehari Onsen, a national rest area located 750m south of Iwate-san’s power marker in 80,000 National Park . Amihari Onsen was once used as a way to deal with mountaineering, and until the Edo period, it was considered a golden area by the mountain gods of the Shizukuishi River Dragon Range . A rope was posted to prevent people from bathing there without permission, and the name of the area seems to have come from this. Meiji School was opened to the public and became similar to the area at the time. Yes. For emergency use, go to Damiha Onsen. [Music] It opened on August 7, 1965, as the 14th rest area operated by the Rest Association, a general incorporated foundation . It is a comprehensive facility that includes a campground and a rest area in addition to accommodation. [Music] It is also possible to use the lifts for mountain climbing. From now on, It offers access to Mount Mitsuishi, famous for its autumn foliage. [Music] You can also enjoy a variety of hot springs known as Amiharigo . This time, we visited one of them. [Music] I wanted to try the baths inside the hotel, but it seemed impossible to try them all in one go, so today I decided to just visit Senjo-no-Yu. Sen- no-Yu is located at Yokuten-Blow, a 78-minute walk through the forest. I got a map at the front desk. The view from the entrance is amazing. It will surely turn bright red in autumn. Once you pass the side of the building, you suddenly enter the mountain path. I’m glad I’m not wearing sandals. Yes, this place has a nice atmosphere. The ups and downs aren’t too steep, so it feels like a pleasant hike on a mountain path. [Music] There are so many signs, I can’t be sure I’m here. [Music] I’m already feeling relaxed before soaking in the hot spring. [Music] Oh, we’re going down. Oh, there was an up and down here . [Music] Surely that’s it. Ah, [Music] How many times do they go down each time? Next time , ah, that’s nice. It’s kind of cool, isn’t it? Hey, there’s no next one, so close. Oh, that’ll be quick. Thank you. [Music] This is amazing. I met someone along the flowing stream ahead . [Music] Standing in the background, a warrior ancestor with teeth clad in his teeth, the name Yunyorai comes from that. [Music] I chose the Simple Dragon King Line . It’s a warm, tiring temperature. Watching the waterfall, I forget the time passing. Ah, that’s good. [Music] Maybe I shouldn’t climb instead. Ah, I wanted to come, but I didn’t think it would be this nice. Ah, I understand why that person from earlier came from the bridge. I’m checking my blood pressure with the smartwatch I recently got. It’s great. I can easily check my blood pressure, blood oxygen level, heart rate, and more at any time. It also supports messaging and calls, so it’s perfect for everyday use beyond health management. My daughter gave it to me as a retirement gift. Thank you. Cheers. I’m doing great. I found a sunlit spot a little further down the road than Amabari Onsen. [Music] A step passes by. The green tunnel is beautiful. The hot spring water is drawn from Amikami Amihari Onsen, and the facility was opened in 2000 as a bathhouse. [ Music ] You can enjoy the tranquil scenery. It’s a convenient hot spring facility. It seems that many people from outside the prefecture visit. [Music] I’ll try the soba noodles again, which I missed yesterday. It’s already lunchtime again today, so I wonder if I can get in. [Music] Where are they? As expected, I’m waiting, seeing that it’s full. [Music] I didn’t have to wait too long, so I bought a ticket for a tempura plate at the seated horse station and waited. [Music] It was delicious. I ate it all and wanted a second helping. It was delicious. [Music] [Music] The soba noodles were al dente, so they had to be chewed at the end , which was amazing. The tempura, too, wasn’t smelly, but rather had a unique, thick texture that allowed you to taste the flavor. It was absolutely delicious. What did you think? Speaking of hot springs in Iwate, Hanamaki Onsen and Tai Onsen Kagami are famous, but there are also some great hot springs around Shizukuishi . Please visit them. [Music]
