  1. Ooh that conversion rate is NOT making me happy right now!!

Volaris is a decent airline for flying within Mexico and I've heard you can join their club and receive 1 domestic flight per month, just pay taxes and fees (heard about it from QRoo Paul)
and an INCREDIBLE app I use for yoga is called Down Dog. (Try it, you won't regret it!!)

I live in Oaxaca in Colonia Reforma, a nice neighborhood about a 20 minute walk from Centro.

(All prices in pesos unless specified)
I got lucky with my 2 bed furnished apartment with all services for: $8,300 per month
I drink about 3 garrafones of water per month which is delivered to my house for $108
I got braces put on ($8,500) and my monthly orthodontist visit costs $1,500
I spend about $2,000 on food per month (much more if I go to the super instead of the market 😬😬)
And my laundry is about $200 pesos per month

Everything I need is within walking distance plus my boyfriend has a vehicle (but we don't live together) so I rarely spend money on transportation

My phone bill and some other expenses like a loan and credit card payments are all tied to the US

So overall within México for my necessities I'm spending around $12,000 pesos per month…. another $10,000 for eating out and activities so around $1,200 USD living a comfortable life in Oaxaca, Mexico!

Hope this info helps others that are interested in living in Mexico and wondering about the costs!! ☀️

  2. What I am curious about which you probably will not share is where do you get this two grand a month to live without working and then shopping around for a luxury new car do you have rich parents?and good if you do

  3. My total cost for month in San Luis potosi in 3 brm rental house with 2 people is 16000 pesos per month

  4. What you spend in an entire month in Mexico for literally your whole life, I spend per month in Toronto on rent. Just rent. My utilities aren't included so I have to pay electricity, gas, water, sewage, garbage. Plus all the other expenses. So expensive to exist here

  5. I think you did a very good assessment of living lakeside (I live in San Juan Cosalá) I live in the Raquet Club in a 2 bedroom duplex with quite a nice view for $1150US/month. The heated club pool is a real plus. Just a couple of things I think I do less expensively…my teeth cleaning (Dental Express) is only $10US & my massage therapist comes to my house for at least an hour & a half massage each month. She only charges $25, but I give her $30US because she’s so good! I know you’ve been to Viva Mexico in SJC because I saw you there a few years back, but since it’s not walking distance you may not come out this way too much, but just a reminder, their food is really good. They have raised prices too, but are still under most of the other places my friends & I frequent (we’re a bunch of single females, old enough to be your mother if not grandmother…about 6 of us are happily turning 80 last Fall or this Spring! Oh, & a glass of wine or margarita out here is only 70 pesos 😊 My kids were just here for a week (my older son introduced me to your postings back when you were here the first time.) I think he was hoping we might run into you every time we ate out in Ajijic, but alas… Keep up the good work & if you ever feel like chatting with some fairly spry old ladies, we’re usually at Viva Mexico on Sunday nights 👍 Nancy Green

  6. Maddie love your video’s and love the info about travel.Loved Mexico City too.Your young enjoy your life!! Looks fun!

  7. Have you been to Atotonilco El Alto? I use to go there twice a year, haven't been in about 5 years. In December they have a week long street festival.

  8. Monthly Expenses Aguascalientes, AGS, Mexico

    Water drinking 200MXN

    Water 360 – 500MXN

Rent 13000 MXN 5 br, 2ba unfurnished, parking for 1 car. The house is a far larger than what desire, but it was available, and close to friends in a nice older barrio.

    Electricity 255MXN

    Natural Gas 316MXN

    Internet 449MXN

So the housing/utility costs are about 15,000 Pesos or $835 USD (at 18MXM/1USD)

Sad to say I have not tracked food prices, but they are better than what they were in Oregon.

As to heating/cooling, all I have ever needed is a fan in the summer, so far, at 6,000 feet it does not need AC, but there are some days it would be a nice thing to have. Same goes for “winter” here, the locals are in heavy jackets, but I will be in tee shirts and shorts. There are cool days where a sweat shirt is good during the day and having a comforter on the bed at night.

  9. Well my cost of living is pretty low as my Wife inherited this house here in Jocotepec , but most of your cost's are with in reason . My wife and I enjoy your channel .

  10. I have lived in this area for over 20 years and I think that this is a very accurate accounting of the cost of living here. Good show, Maddie. I saw you walking down Colon last week, I think, but didn't want to violate your privacy, but I was tempted to speak to you. I have enjoyed watching your adventure in Mexico for years.

  11. I spend about $1400 on total monthly expenses not including if I go out to eat. I do split rent with my partner though. So it would definitely be a lot more if I was solo :/
    This is in Las Vegas

  12. Maddie I don't know if you address this before or not but I heard you cannot drink the water in Mexico I'm not trying to be rude or insulting I would like to know your ideas on how to keep healthy without getting Sick.

  13. The biannual anti parasitic treatment interested me, because I had not heard of that Rx. I wonder why they would use that, versus ivermectin which has decades of safety data.

  14. I really enjoy seeing you find your way with your solo channel. I honestly think you are killing it and you are getting better over time.🎉Congrats!

  15. Thank you for being so specific. I would have missed some of these items when constructing my own budget! 🙂

  16. Hi, I’m a new sub. You definitely got a great deal with your Apartment. My house payment counting insurance and taxes. I have car insurance, phones, electric which averages $160 and internet with Netflix and a couple more. I’m thinking my monthly expenses are around $2k.

  17. You REALLY need to get major medical in the event of cancer or any unexpected life threatening illness.

  18. How do you pay for your living in Mexico? Do your parents pay for it?

  19. Why wpuld you have your breast implants removed? They looked very proportional and symetrix. Just curious. Dont lnow much about them

  20. That was interesting Maddie. Where do you fit the subject of tattoos in cosmetic? Also, the cost for the body decorations? I have two tattoos, but they were put on many moons ago.

  21. Like I said before. Do not buy a house, car nothing whatsoever that will put you in debt. Just saying

  22. You living better off $1,200 usd in Mexico than the US. $600 month gets you an room for rent in Michigan.

  23. Maddie, do you pay your cleaner etc. the traditional aguinaldo? I always pay 15 days of their regular salary every December. Love your videos ❤

  24. I don’t think your cost are that much especially for where you live, you could cut out/reduce some of those extra perk and save a couple hundred a month. Out here in the west coast a decent apartment in a nice part of town is over $1200. And that’s just basic rent no utilities

  25. Hi Maddie, I like the jewelry you wear, especially your necklaces. It looks so natural to you and your style. You could be wearing a dress without changing jewelry. Nice timepiece too. I am a fan. Thank you.

  26. I just ran across your videos just the other day and have enjoyed your videos of living in Mexico. I think the cost of living sounds cheaper than the city I live in In Iowa which is not an expensive state compared to Cali of New york. But you were saying your apartment which is super adorable is less than $1000. My son and his fiancé pay roughly $1000. for a nice apartment with tiny kitchen but nothing fancy and that is with Utilites. Many apartments around here are closer to $1000. without utilities or higher. thanks for the videos as I had no idea what Mexico was really like and I can see it through your eyes Or camera really, lol
