【伊香保温泉】石段街食べ歩き観光プラン✨|湯の花パン・玉こんにゃく・水沢うどん|
This video introduces gourmet food in Ikaho Onsen, Gunma Prefecture. We’ll be walking and eating our way to Ikaho Shrine at the top of the stone steps(Ishidan-gai). In the second half of the video, we’ll also introduce recommended restaurants serving Mizusawa udon, known as one of Japan’s three great udon noodles. We hope this video will be helpful for your Ikaho trip. Please watch until the end. Happiever Channel We’ve arrived at the Stone Steps in Ikaho Onsen. The Stone Steps is a popular tourist spot in Ikaho, bustling with tourists. We’ll enjoy our food while we walk and head to Ikaho Shrine at the top. Ikaho Onsen can be reached from Tokyo in about 2.5 hours by expressway or express bus. The 365 steps are like a training journey, but we’ll do our best! The stone steps are designed to symbolize the prosperity of the hot spring town, so that it will be bustling 365 days a year. The first shop is a Gunma specialty: tama konnyaku. The delicious aroma of broth fills the air at the entrance, with tama konnyaku being cooked in front of the store. You can add chili pepper or mustard to your liking. There was a rest bench halfway up the stone steps. The flavor was thoroughly infused into the konnyaku balls, making them incredibly delicious. The steps are narrow, so we had to bend over backwards as we made our way up. *There was a step along the way that was almost tripping. You can see the hot spring flowing. This is the second shop. The popular bread was already sold out. I bought the Ishidan Pudding. It came in a cute, round jar. It was well chilled, making it perfect for the hot weather. The pudding was packed to the brim. It was not too sweet, easy to eat, and very delicious. The pudding had a smooth, creamy texture. This is the third shop I’d like to introduce. Their signature dish is soft serve ice cream topped with monaka. I wonder what I should eat! They have something called meat-wrapped rice balls. I was drawn in by the atmosphere of the shop and decided to go inside. Stylish Ghibli music was playing inside. The interior had a calming, old-fashioned feel. From the window seats, I could see the Ishidan Street. There’s also a wide selection of tea-based dishes. The meat-wrapped rice ball I think I’ll try this! I ordered a cream soda and meat-wrapped rice ball. The vanilla soft serve ice cream was sweet and delicious! I’m nostalgic for the popping candy in my mouth. The cider and jelly had a refreshing and clean taste. It soaked into my body after climbing nearly 300 steps. The seating was spacious and comfortable. I recommend this cafe for those who want to relax. I had the meat-wrapped rice ball. It was large and heavy. The flavor was like a sweet and spicy yakiniku sauce, which made it perfect for rice. The flavor even permeated the rice. In addition to using the cafe,
I recommend enjoying a light meal. There are about 40 steps left to reach the summit. Near the top, there’s a shop called “Shogetsudo,”
famous for its manju (steamed buns). Almost 365 steps! I’ve reached the 365th stone staircase! Ikaho Shrine is known for its various blessings and is beloved as the guardian deity of the hot spring town. The Ikaho Sekisho (checkpoint) was established by the Edo Shogunate in 1631. It is divided into two Japanese-style rooms, a wooden-floored area, and a dirt floor. Armor and helmets are on display inside the building. I discovered a hidden gem and enjoyed relaxing on the veranda. Leaving the Stone Steps Street behind, I headed to Ikaho’s Udon Street. The restaurant is about a 10-minute drive from the Stone Steps Street. I arrived at Mizusawa Udon, a popular udon restaurant
that’s one of Japan’s three major udon restaurants. The spacious restaurant offers table seating, tatami seating, and a hall. In addition to Zaru Udon and Kake Udon, their maitake mushroom tempura is a popular choice. You can choose from large (500g), regular (300g), or small (225g) portions of udon. The regular portion is just the right size for one person. An English menu is also available. Since the small portion doesn’t include a tempura Zaru set,
I ordered the tempura platter separately. My table was ready in 10-15 minutes after ordering. The udon noodles were shiny and delicious! The tempura platter included eggplant and baby corn. The maitake mushrooms in the platter were bigger than the udon set! They were so big I couldn’t fit them all in my mouth. They were thick and juicy. They were freshly fried and crispy, giving off a wonderful oily aroma. Each udon noodle was very long. They were smooth and had a chewy texture. It was a delicious and satisfying maitake tempura! The last bite. Even the large portion was so good I could finish it all. “It’s all gone!” If you come to Ikaho Onsen, be sure to try Mizusawa Udon! The shop also sells udon noodles as souvenirs. Thank you for the meal. It was really good.
Mizusawa Udon is one of Japan’s three great udon noodles. As it gets closer to noon, customers start to stream in one after another. If you want to avoid the line, I recommend arriving by 11:30. This is Torimeshi “Torihei,” a specialty of Joshu. This restaurant happened to be featured on TV while I was there. It was served as a local dish at the dinner buffet the night before. I bought it as a souvenir! It contains sliced chicken breast simmered in soy sauce. The sauce permeates the rice and it was delicious. What did you think of this sightseeing video about Ikaho Onsen? I hope it will be helpful for your trip. If you enjoyed this video, please give it a thumbs up
and subscribe to the channel! Thank you for watching until the end! See you in the next video!
