ここは和歌山県由良の白崎海岸。
目の前に広がるのは、真っ白な石灰岩と、限りなく碧く透きとおる海。
その白と碧のコントラストはあまりにも鮮烈で、ふと「ここが本当に和歌山なのだろうか」まるで、地中海かエーゲ海に迷い込んだようだ。
遠くから眺めれば、白い岸壁は光を反射してまぶしく輝き、近くに寄れば、無骨な岩肌のひとつひとつが、はるかな時を刻んできたことを語りかけてくる。
足元の波は透明で、空は雲ひとつない青に染まっている。
その光景の中に立っていると、時間というものがふっと遠のいていくのを感じた。
ただ白と碧に抱かれ、風と波の音に包まれる。
何も特別なことが起きているわけではない。
けれど、そこにいるだけで、心が静かに満たされていく。
白崎海岸は、そんな別世界だった。

Here is Shirasaki Coast in Yura, Wakayama.
Before me stretches a landscape of dazzling white limestone and a sea of endless, transparent blue.
The contrast of white and turquoise is so striking that I found myself wondering, “Is this really Wakayama?”
It felt as if I had wandered into the Mediterranean, or perhaps the Aegean.
From afar, the white cliffs reflect the sunlight with a blinding brilliance. Up close, every rugged surface of the rock seems to speak of time measured in ages. At my feet, the waves are clear as glass, and above, the sky spreads in a pure blue, without a single cloud.
Standing within this scenery, I felt time itself slip quietly away.
Wrapped only in white and blue, surrounded by the sound of wind and waves—nothing special was happening, and yet, simply being there filled my heart with a quiet sense of contentment.
Shirasaki Coast was truly another world.
(It almost made me crave an ice-cold glass of gin.)
