【島根観光】出雲の魅力知っちょー?いつか行きたくなる美しい町を行けるところまで行ってみた 1泊2日強行ドライブ旅!
Hello, this is Dora Travel. This time, we’re driving through Izumo City in Shimane Prefecture. We’ll explore Izumo Grand Shrine, enjoy the food along the main approach road, and drive along the beautiful Sea of Japan coast. Thrilling roads and breathtaking views await us there. A 1-night, 2-day driving trip—watch until the end! Izumo City, Shimane Prefecture, is located on the eastern side of Shimane Prefecture. It’s the second most populous city in the prefecture. People come from all over the world to visit Izumo Grand Shrine. There are also many other tourist attractions. We’ve introduced some before, but there are still many more. This time, we’re traveling through Izumo. We’ll try to visit as many places as possible. This time, we visited in September. This channel features road trips through Western Japan. Your support helps us showcase more of Japan. Please hit the like button and subscribe to the channel. This is the inn right next to the great torii gate of Izumo Taisha. It’s affordable, the rooms are spacious, and it’s conveniently located. Starting tomorrow, we’ll be driving around Izumo. The inn has everything we nee This is the inside of the room. It’s really spacious, isn’t it? The firmness of the bed pillows is just right. It was very quiet, and I slept well. The shower room and toilet are separate. It’s fully equipped with the latest air conditioning. Very comfortable. Omotesando at night has this kind of atmosphere. It’s a bit scary, so I’m going to sleep now. Good morning. First, we’ll pay our respects at Izumo Taisha. Inasa Beach Take sand from this beach and exchange it at Soganoyashiro Shrine in Izumo Taisha. It’s incredibly clear weather. Besides us, there were several other people scooping up sand. The rock right in front of us is Benten Island. You can see a shrine on the big rock. It’s a shrine that was just rebuilt this year. It looks like it’s shining in the sunlight. If you’re taking sand, a Ziploc bag is handy. It was a clear, sunny day. We can bring you many beautiful images: Izumo Grand Shrine under blue skies, Hinomisaki Lighthouse illuminated by the setting sun, and more. We parked here, in this lot closest to the large torii gate. I think this is the most convenient way to get to Izumo Grand Shrine. Even if you park for a whole day, the maximum parking fee is 600 yen. I arrived around 9:30 AM. There aren’t many people yet, but it gets busier in the afternoon. It’s best to visit early. Beyond the torii gate, visible on the right is Haraeno-yashiro. Before worship, purify yourself of evil here. The water beneath this bridge separates the human realm from the divine realm. It is a barrier. Bow once and cross the bridge. Many rabbits welcome you within the shrine grounds. In the Tottori video, I also visited Hakuto Shrine. Be sure to watch that one after this video ends. Walking on the right is forbidden. Walk on the left. This is incorrect. Beyond the bronze torii gate, an overwhelming sense of sacredness lingers, no matter when or how many times you visit. Consider it a blessing to hear the sounds of drums and flutes during your visit. At the site marked with three circles, a massive 48-meter-tall shrine once stood. This area slopes downward. So from the torii gate, this is probably how it looked. I bought a new goshuin stamp book. I still want to visit so many more places. Thank you very much. From October to November, gods gather here from all over the country. The gods stay in this long house. More gods come than the population of Shimane Prefecture. Sand collected at Inasa Beach is exchanged here at Soganoyashiro. The mountain behind is the divine object. I was able to touch Mount Yakumo. You cannot enter Mount Yakumo. Only this rock here can be touched. It’s better to touch this one. The deity enshrined in the main hall faces west, to the left when viewed from the front. Let’s visit the Kagura Hall last. The blue sky and national flag look beautiful. I was watching with my mouth half open. Kagura Hall I’m glad I was born in Japan. That’s how I feel. The shimewa was replaced in 2018. Maybe it’s due for replacement soon. The flagpole is 47 meters tall. I heard it was deliberately made lower than the massive shrine itself. It reminds me of footage from NHK. The view from the torii gate, the path, and the sky are all magnificent. It’s 11 o’clock. I’ll take you to a soba restaurant. Here it is. We arrived in 5 minutes on foot (Soba Koichi). Inside the shop This soba place is highly recommended Light and chewy texture The firm bite is absolutely perfect Smooth going down, with great balance to the broth Rich tuna with olive aroma and depth The daikon sprouts occasionally mixed in paired perfectly with the broth This was delicious too It was delicious. The restaurant feels like a hidden gem. Amaemon: Zenzai is our specialty. Inside the shop It’s like being inside a warehouse. Last time I came, they were closed for a special event. Third time’s the charm. Red and white mochi, Daikoku-sama monaka inside. Quite the display. They said the mochi was a bit overcooked. Apparently it’s supposed to be a bit smaller. They make authentic matcha by whisking it. It has a clean, slightly bitter taste. Zenzai with reduced sweetness Daikokuten-sama has a crunchy texture. It was delicious. Let’s buy chopsticks too. Got them. Chopsticks with cute illustrations that look easy to use. There are other shops too. Izumo towels. Odorless and soft to the touch Absorbs water extremely well The design is excellent—simple and easy to use. Weekday mornings are quiet. It gets busier in the afternoons. We left at a good time. There were some nice shops inside the station. Renovated in March 2025 Lots of unique souvenirs Limited-edition furoshiki wraps, handkerchiefs, and tenugui towels Now, I plan to drive further north along the Sea of Japan coastline Few people come here. But breathtaking views and beautiful port towns dotted the coast. Now we’re heading to this very tip. The sea was truly beautiful. The sea breeze felt wonderful—a secret, breathtaking view that no one knows about yet. We’ve arrived at the pointed tip of Shimane Prefecture. You can see the wind turbines up close here. Pretty impressive, huh? Everyone, what do you think this reads? This reads (uppurui). Absolutely unreadable There are several theories about the origin of the place name, but apparently no one knows for sure. There’s nothing around here, but this place name has stuck with me. Unexpectedly, the road was closed. Let’s turn back and take a different route. Lately, heavy rains have made more roads impassable. This is starting to feel like a survival channel, but we managed to get through somehow. I really want you to visit this place someday. It had scenery you won’t find anywhere else. We’ve arrived in Koizu Town. Houses cling to the steep slopes. It’s like Amalfi in Italy, right? Let’s head down below. The view down below is also spectacular. The northern coast of Shimane Prefecture has many towns like this. It looks fun to drive all the way to Mihonoseki, far ahead. This area was originally a mountainside that became part of the coastline due to rising sea levels. There were rocks like this too. There were similar formations in Miyazaki Prefecture. Washing Rock This area was deposited about 15 million years ago and was once the ocean floor. I’m going tomorrow. It’s close to Hirata Town too. Go to Koizu Town sometime. Tomorrow I’ll take a leisurely stroll along the Cotton Road in Hirata Town too. It’s evening now. With this weather, we should be able to see the sunset. Let’s go to Hinomisaki Lighthouse. When it’s clear, the lighthouse’s whiteness really stands out. This is absolutely amazing. I’m so glad I came. I wasn’t actually planning on coming, but I’m glad I did. I was moved by the blue sky and the pure white lighthouse, the tallest in Japan. The red sunset and the evening sky were both incredibly beautiful. Twin Reeves Hotel Izumo It’s right in front of Izumo City Station. With this much space, it’s easy to open up my travel case. The bed is spacious too. The bathroom view is the usual one. Tonight’s drinks are decided at a shop called Maruzen Suisan. It was striking that there was absolutely no background music inside. After the beer, I’ll have their famous fish. Rich in fat, mild, and tender sashimi. Next up: meat. After being on the move since morning, you crave meat. Everything was delicious. Highball. It was amazing. I’ll buy some drinks at the convenience store and have another round in that spacious room. Tomorrow, I’ll continue exploring Izumo City. Looking forward to the next time.
