Hi, I’m Ahan and I’m Albert. In this episode, the two of us will introduce where we’ll take everyone to play by bus. Today we’re going to take the Taiwan Travel Route , the Lingbo Guantian Line. Starting from Shanhua Station, we’ll head north to take everyone to visit the scenic spots in Guantian District and Liuying District , including the Guantian Visitor Center, Wushantou Reservoir, and Jianshanpi Resort. Finally, we’ll arrive at Xinying Railway Station. The film will also take everyone to visit the prairie at the Guantian Visitor Center and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Wushantou Reservoir . Finally, we’ll go to Jianshanpi Resort for a lake cruise . Okay, let’s not talk too much nonsense , let’s start introducing it right away . Today we want to introduce you to a Taiwan Travel Route in Tainan-the Lingbo Guantian Line. This line passes by the Guantian Visitor Center and the Wushantou Reservoir. We’ll get on the bus from Shanhua and play all the way to Xinying. Now follow Ahan to take the bus and take the Lingbo Guantian Line. It was opened on September 4, 2021. As the name suggests, it passes through Guantian, Xinying, Shanhua, and Liuying, connecting Tainan City. These four areas are connected by a series of attractions that are not easily accessible directly. This time, we’ll start at the Shanhua Transfer Station and take the bus past the Shanhua Brewery on Highway 178 (slip of the tongue) , then return to Provincial Highway 1, stopping at Longtian Train Station and the Guantian Visitor Center. After passing Wushantou Reservoir, we ‘ll take National Highway 3 to the Jianshanpi Resort and finally arrive at Xinying Train Station. This time, we’ll focus on the main attractions for an in-depth introduction, so please read on. The first attraction we passed was the Shanhua Brewery. The Shanhua Brewery is located on Highway 1 and Highway 178, next to Shanhua’s Chenggong New Village. The Shanhua Brewery is very large. In fact, such a large area was chosen to meet the high sales volume of Taiwan’s beer market in the 1960s. They decided to locate the brewery in the southern region with convenient transportation and vast land. The Public Sale Bureau believed that Shanhua’s proximity to Provincial Highway 1, the land mostly in Longtian , and the proximity to the irrigation canal made water easily accessible. In addition, the then-mayor of Shanhua Town and the town representatives strongly supported the public sale. The bureau set up a factory here. In December 1975, the Shanhua Chenggong Brewery was officially opened and began producing beer. In 2004, in cooperation with the Tainan County Government to promote cultural and creative industries, the Shanhua Brewery changed its business direction and added a beer cultural park for tourists to visit. It is Taiwan’s first beer-themed tourist brewery. It took about 20 minutes to pass through Balin and arrived at Longtian Railway Station . We are going to get off here and ride Ubike to go to Guantian Visitor Center and Guantianli . Everyone, the first stop we got off here is Longtian Railway Station . We will ride Ubike to Guantian Visitor Center in a moment. Longtian Cultural and Creative Park is about a 3-5 minute walk to the left of Longtian Station. The park preserves the railway tracks, the remains of the weighing room, and historical buildings. The Taiyan Longtian Storage and Transportation Station and warehouse area also have themed immersive theaters, pinball games, public art, and a professional Tainan Archaeology Center. The ticket price is NT$100 per person . It is closed on Tuesdays. If you want to consider family fun This is a great place to ride an Ubike. The journey from Longtian Railway Station to the Guantian Visitor Center takes about 10 to 15 minutes. First, ride north along Wenhua Street onto Shengli Road, which connects to Taiwan Highway 1. After crossing the land bridge, turn left onto Municipal Road 165 , then right onto Futian Road, and you’ll arrive at the Guantian Visitor Center. There are Ubike parking posts outside the visitor center, so don’t worry about not having parking spaces. If you’re taking the Lingbo-Guantian Line, the bus stop is right outside the entrance. Get off and walk directly inside. The Guantian Visitor Center is located in Guantian, towering over the countryside. It opened in August 2020 and was planned by the Siraya National Scenic Area Administration of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications. It covers an area of approximately 11 hectares. The building is designed to resemble a Siraya settlement, incorporating the topography of the Jianan Plain. Outside the main building of the visitor center is a vast expanse of lush green grassland, with sika deer land art, paper cranes, and installations of English letters. These installations are… Internet celebrities have become popular photography Instagram check-in backgrounds. In addition, you will definitely ask what is there to visit near the Guantian Tourist Center. If you like to experience the local landscape and culture, then you can visit the Guantian Community. The Guantian Community is located close to the center of Guantian District . It is on City Road 165 in the north and Batian Road in the south. The residents in the community rely on farming as their main economic activity, planting crops such as rice, water chestnuts, vegetables and fruits. Guantianli was formerly called Guandian . This is the earliest developed place in Guantian District. There is a local proverb that says that only Chen people are Guandian people. In plain words, the early Guantian Village was almost dominated by people with the surname Chen. If there were people with other surnames, most of them came to Guandian to work for the Chen family and settled there. Guantian Community was the seat of Guantian Township in the early days. Guandian District was established in 1901 during the Japanese era . After the restoration, it was reorganized into Guantian Township. The township office was originally located in Guantian Village and later moved to the vicinity of Longtian Railway Station in 1953. Walking in the territory of Guantian Community, you can see the township. The village has a simple and friendly atmosphere. There are not many people and cars in these alleys. I really enjoy this quietness. Guantian Elementary School in the community has been established since 1913 and has a history of over a hundred years. In addition to Guantian Elementary School, there is of course a religious center in the community , namely Cisheng Temple . The Cisheng Temple in Guantian was built in 1796, the first year of the Jiaqing reign. According to legend , the collateral descendants of Chen Yonghua, who joined the army during the Ming Dynasty Zheng Chenggong, followed Zheng Chenggong across the sea to Taiwan and welcomed Shennong Emperor and Zhongtan Marshal from their hometown of Fujian Province to enshrine them in their homes. It was not until the Yongzheng reign of the Qing Dynasty that the temple was built. It was moved to its current location during the Japanese era and its current size was completed in 2003. It has always protected the farming and residents of the Guantian community. The drive from the Guantian Visitor Center to Wushantou Reservoir is about 7 to 10 minutes. The two places are not very far apart. Going straight along Section 2 of Batian Road, you will reach the gate of Wushantou Reservoir. Wushantou Reservoir is located in Guantian, Tainan City. At the junction of the district and Rokko district is an artificial reservoir planned and built during the Japanese era. It was planned by Japanese engineer Yoichi Hatta and completed in 1930. It is one of the most important water conservancy projects connecting the Jianan Canal. Entrance to Wushantou Reservoir requires an entrance fee. The full ticket is 100 yuan per person . If you come in by bus, you can enjoy a discounted ticket of only 40 yuan. The park area of Wushantou Reservoir is very large . If you walk the entire area, you may not be able to walk through it in 2 hours. Ah Han will first take everyone to visit the Hatta Yoichi Memorial Park. Walk in from the entrance, turn left and go straight, and you will see the Hatta Yoichi Memorial Park. It is located on the north side of Wushantou Reservoir. The introduction of the park mainly takes people to review the contributions of Hatta Yoichi to the canal project and his life. After renovation, the buildings in the park area were officially opened to tourists in 2011. The technicians who restored the project at that time even traveled to Hatta Yoichi’s hometown, Ishikawa Prefecture, as the basis for the construction and introduced Japanese wood construction technology to faithfully present the buildings. The original appearance of this memorial park . In addition to the bronze statue of Hatta Yoichi, there are four residential areas : Tanaka and Sichuan House, Hatta House, Aka House, and Abu House. Today we will take you to visit the Hatta House section . The Wushantou Reservoir Park is really large. If you want to come here to walk around, it will take more than 2 hours to explore. Ah Han decided to borrow a Ubike next to Hatta Yoichi’s park. Next, I will briefly introduce the scenery of the Wushantou Reservoir Scenic Area. Today we will introduce it along the old water inlet, the Temple of Heaven, the suspension bridge, and the wharf dam. First, I will take you to visit the old water inlet . This is the old water inlet of Wushantou Reservoir. It was built in 1930. Its main facilities include the water intake tower pressure tunnel, two large butterfly valves and two nine-foot diameter water supply steel pipes. The connection and power generation facilities run through the bottom of the dam. Due to the aging of the facilities, considering the water supply in the area and the safety of people downstream of the reservoir, the old water inlet became an auxiliary water supply after the new water supply facilities were completed in 1997. The Jianan Hydraulic Association was regulated and a memorial room for engineer Hatta was built above the finger. The history of the Wushantou Reservoir is recorded in the memorial room. Friends who are interested can go and have a look. After visiting the old water inlet , we will take everyone to the Temple of Heaven. This Temple of Heaven was newly completed around 1973. Its appearance is modeled after the height of the Temple of Heaven in Beijing, China, at 3/4 of the scale. The reason for this Temple of Heaven is that the Nationalist government once exchanged views with the director of the Beijing Park and signed a memorandum of cooperation, hoping that the Beijing Temple of Heaven could also bring the worship ceremony and sacrificial supplies to the Temple of Heaven in the Wushantou Reservoir Scenic Area for display. However, the Temple of Heaven is currently closed, so we can only take pictures of the exterior at the door. Next to the Temple of Heaven is the Coral Bridge. Another name for the Coral Bridge is the Cross-Rainbow Suspension Bridge. This suspension bridge was the main bridge for the early villagers of Osaki to reach Jianan Village. It was completed in 1930. You can cross the spillway from the suspension bridge. The other end of the bridge is Tainan University of the Arts. Later, the road outside was widened. The suspension bridge is not open to traffic now, so visitors can only walk on the suspension bridge. The dam of Wushantou Reservoir adopts the innovative “semi-hydraulic scouring and silting earth-rock dam” construction method at that time. The biggest advantage of this construction method is that it can resist siltation. It is the only reservoir in Taiwan that adopts this construction method and it is also the only remaining semi-hydraulic scouring and silting earth-rock dam structure reservoir. At that time, the entire project was well-known throughout Southeast Asia. This construction method was very difficult at the time. The most difficult project was the water inlet on the embankment wall and the underground water diversion tunnel buried through Wushanling. At the same time, a power plant was set up to not only generate electricity and regulate irrigation, but also supply Tainan’s public water and industrial water. The reservoir has a catchment area of about 1,300 hectares. It mainly intercepts Guantian Creek and more than 30 tributaries. It is an important source of irrigation for the Jianan Plain. After the Nationalist Government came to Taiwan, a new Zengwen Reservoir was built upstream above the east entrance of the Wushanling Tunnel and connected to it. The Zengwen Reservoir, operated by the joint venture , also provides water for the Wushantou Hydropower Plant. Wushantou Reservoir is also known as Coral Pond because of its winding shoreline . From above, it resembles a series of deep green coral reefs. The natural ecology and scenery are extremely rich. A boat tour of Wushantou Reservoir costs NT$300 per person . I rode my Ubike along the lakeside trail back to the intersection, returned the bike, and then walked back to wait for the next Lingbo Guantian Line bus. We were then off to our next stop, Jianshanpi Resort. The ride from Wushantou Reservoir takes about 10-15 minutes . Take National Highway 3 from the Wushantou Interchange, exit at the Liuying Interchange, cross Xushanli, and head south on City Road 107. You’ll soon arrive at Jianshanpi Resort. Actually, the Jianan region is home to numerous reservoirs thanks to the early Jianan Canal. Besides Zengwen Reservoir and
Wushantou Reservoir, there’s another place called Jianshanpi Reservoir. We’ll take you there now. Let’s take a look at the scenery of the Jianshanpi Reservoir (Resort). We arrived at the Jianshanpi Resort. The ticket for one person is NT$150. If you want to take a round-trip lake tour on the small train, then I recommend you buy a package ticket. The package ticket is only NT$250, which is more cost-effective. After buying the ticket, we walked up from the entrance and we could see the small park train. The small park train takes about 3 to 5 minutes and we will arrive at the Yixing Bridge. In front of the swan boat and lake tour boarding point is where you can go for a lake tour. If you want to take a lake tour , remember to show your ticket to the staff . You must register first before you can upload. The Jianshanpi Resort is located in Xushan Village, Liuying District, Tainan City. This was formerly the Jianshanpi Reservoir. It was built by the Yanshuigang Sugar Co., Ltd. in the Japanese era to supply cooling water to the Xinying Sugar Refinery. The water source is a tributary of the Guizhong River. The Jianshanpi Reservoir was completed and put into use around 1938. The elders may not be familiar with the three words Jianshanpi, but they will have an impression of it when they hear the name Jiangnan Resort, right? Yes, this place used to be called Jiangnan Resort. Its beautiful lakeside scenery and surrounding mountains earned it the nickname “Little Jiangnan” and “West Lake Scenic Spot.” That’s how the name Jiangnan came about . The sugar factory needed this reservoir for its cooling water. Since sugar production was discontinued , the reservoir has been converted to tourism, with boat trips and canoeing available. There’s an old house here, and there’s a house number next to it. Look, it’s called the old soldier’s house. They moved to Kaohsiung. The old soldier must have become an immortal, right? So, what’s going on over there now? It ‘s become a historical site here , and we’ve preserved it. If you come earlier next time, perhaps around May or June, because May is butterfly season and you’ll see lots of butterflies, and June is rhinoceros beetle season. If you’re staying overnight, you can also sign up for the ecological night viewing. In 2000, Jianshanpi Reservoir was established under the planning of the Taiwan Sugar Corporation as the Jiangnan Resort. In 2022, it was renamed Jianshanpi Resort. Besides boat tours on the lake, you can also ride bumper boats and swan pedalos to enjoy the sunset. There’s also a botanical garden, an ecological park, a lotus pond and garden, as well as a paintball arena, bumper cars, barbecue areas, and other outdoor facilities. Okay, now that we’ve introduced Jianshanpi Resort, we’ll take the fourth (slip of the tongue) Lingbo Guantian Line back to Xinying Station. Okay, now we’re back in Xinying. This episode is recorded for you. I hope you like today’s itinerary . I’m Ah Han. If you like our channel, please like, subscribe , and turn on the bell. See you next time! ByeBye~
