Katsuyama flourished as a castle town and post town on the Izumo Kaido road, with its atmospheric streetscape adorned with plant-dyed noren curtains . Even today, the old white-walled storehouses, merchant houses with lattice windows, and other old streetscapes remain, making it the first town in Okayama Prefecture to be designated a “townscape preservation district.” Today, noren curtains have become a symbol of Katsuyama, delighting tourists all over town. 出雲街道の宿場町・城下町として栄えた勝山。

今でも昔ながらの白壁の土蔵、格子窓の商家、古い町並みが残っており、岡山県で最初に「町並み保存地区」に指定されました。

今では“のれん”が勝山のシンボルになっていて、町のあちこちで観光客の目を楽しませてくれます。（岡山観光ＷｅｂＨＰより）
