五穀豊穣や無病息災を願い、秋の祭りを華やかに彩るこの伝統行事ですが、今、存続の危機に直面しています。

🌾地域に住む若者が減り、長年獅子舞を担ってきた青年団の人数が減少し、数年後には組織を「宇波獅子舞保存会」へと移行せざるを得ない状況です。
それでも、地区の人々は「何としてもこの伝統を次の世代に繋ぎたい」という強い思いを胸に、獅子舞の継続を決意しています。

🌏 Unami Lion Dance in Himi City, Toyama Prefecture 📍

The Unami Lion Dance, a tradition passed down for generations in the Unami district, is a beautiful part of our autumn festival. It’s performed to pray for a bountiful harvest and good health. However, this tradition is now facing a crisis. 🌾

Due to a declining youth population, the number of young people in our Youth Group has decreased. In just a few years, we will have to transition into the “Unami Preservation Society.” Still, the people of our community are strongly determined to continue the lion dance, committed to passing this tradition on to the next generation.

▶️ This video showcases the powerful performance and the passion of the people who are dedicated to keeping it alive.
