【絶景・国営ひたち海浜公園2025秋】緑から赤に染まりゆくコキア４万本 ネモフィラだけじゃない巨大公園に行ってみた 茨城旅② Hitachi Seaside Park
B-Journey On the first day of our two-day trip to Ibaraki, We visited places associated with the Mito Tokugawa family. The second day. Mid-September 2025 Today we start from Mito station. First, we go to Katsuta Station, first stop from Mito station via the Joban Line. We are now heading to Hitachi Seaside Park. This park is popular on SNS for its fields of nemophila that bloom in spring. Arrived at Katsuta Station. We take a bus from Katsuta Station. The bus takes 17 minutes to reach the West Entrance of Hitachi Seaside Park. At the West Entrance, all passengers get off.
However, we did not get off. We rode the bus a little further and came to the South Entrance. Perhaps the South Entrance doesn’t get many visitors? Grass is growing Admission fee is 450 yen. By the way, Hitachi Seaside Park

My wife “Everywhere” This is popular Miharashi Hill, famous for nemophila blooming in spring (close to the West Entrance). First, we are going to the Dune Garden, but the path is narrow and seems unreliable, but we’ll try entering. There was a bridge like the one in “The Bridges of Madison County”. Perhaps because not many people come here, it seems somewhat poorly maintained… It seems we’ve arrived at the Dune Garden, but the map is deteriorated and unreadable 😅 However… Which part around here is supposed to be the dune? The surroundings are overgrown with plants, making us think we might have come to the wrong place. Cosmos flowers were blooming. Yellow cosmos are also blooming. We got lost and ended up at the athletic course in the grassy area. We head back to the Dune Garden area again. We are around here now, but it doesn’t look like a dune. We had arbitrarily imagined something like the Tottori Sand Dunes, but it seems the concept is a “sand dune area near the ocean”, enjoying things like pine trees by the ocean and the vegetation. That seems to be the concept of the Dune Garden. Going further on, we saw the ocean. Actually, it was a midsummer day with temperatures of 34 degrees Celsius. It’s too hot, so we take a break at the cafe “Glasshouse”. Cool. It’s a lovely cafe. Soft serve ice cream (420 yen) Iced coffee (370 yen) Oh. We finally came to a place that looks like a dune! Near the coast, it’s a sand dune 😅 We got tired from walking, so we decided to take the train. The train pass costs 600 yen for unlimited rides all day. When we came to the grassy area, we saw pampas grass. Pampas grass, like large Japanese silver grass. A place called the “Great Grassland”. Finally, we head to the famous “Miharashi Hill”. Here, nemophila blooms from mid-April to early May. From summer to autumn, you can enjoy kochia. Among the green kochia, there are already some kochia that have turned autumnal colors. Kochia, stretching all the way to the far end. During the nemophila season, it’s all nemophila. It was much wider and more spectacular than we had imagined. The summit is far in the distance. There are 40,000 kochia plants in total. The egg-shaped kochia lined up look like abstract paintings. This is the view from the summit. They say the peak for kochia autumn colors is mid-October. It must be amazing when it’s entirely dyed red. Visiting Hitachi Seaside Park was worth it. We want to come again during the nemophila season. Please subscribe to my channel

ここは春にネモフィラが一面に咲くことで知られ、SNSでも人気が高い。
訪れた9月中旬は、ネモフィラに代わって４万本のコキアが植えられ、なだらかな丘を覆い尽くしていた。１０月の紅葉の季節に向け緑から赤に染まりゆくコキアの様子を見てきました。
水戸駅から常磐線とバスを乗り継いで国営ひたち海浜公園に行く方法も収録しています。
