母との北京旅行7泊8日、標高1000mの山でなぜかバンジージャンプさせられて…
Hey guys, it’s Yuuka! Right now I’m at Narita Airport. Today I’m heading off to Beijing, China! So yeah, my birthday was just the other day. Back in January, I actually made a video celebrating my mom’s birthday. But today it’s the other way around— my mom’s celebrating mine this time! So we’re doing a little Beijing trip together. Well, “together,” but my mom’s actually from China, and she’s already there at her family home, so I’m flying over to meet her. Alright then, let’s go! So my flight today is with Spring Japan. Yep, Spring Japan it is. It’s an LCC and I picked the cheapest direct flight I could find. It was about $180 one way. But hey, it’s a birthday gift, so… Xiexie, Mom! Okay then, wish me luck—off I go! *It’s pretty crowded—my “curious bird mode” is fully activated.* *The flight’s about 3.5 hours from Narita to Beijing, so hang in there, me.* *And there we go, taking off from Narita!* *Tried to fix the focus, but yeah… totally failed lol.* *The night view while turning was so gorgeous it gave me chills.* *For a second I thought, “this view + a drink = perfection,”* *but if I got drunk and couldn’t meet Mom, that’d be a disaster—so no booze today.* *No meal included on this flight, so I paid extra for crab soup.* *Trying to save my stomach so I can feast like crazy once I land in Beijing.* And just like that, we landed in Beijing! I picked the cheapest flight, but honestly 3.5 hours was super chill. I’ve arrived at Beijing Airport! It’s been forever—like 6 years since I was last here. Now it’s time to go find my mom. If I don’t find her… this might just be the ending right here lol… But nope, I’ll do my best to find her! *Yep, currently lost. Totally.* Sorry for making you wait! My flight was delayed a whole hour. Alright, let’s head home! Thanks, Mom! Finally reunited with my mom! Yesss! We’re grabbing a taxi now and heading home. *Chill fruit time after getting home.* So many fruits everywhere! Since there was no meal on the flight, I’m extra happy about this. Okay, let’s dig in—I’m just biting straight into it. *Mom hiding her face with a hilariously tiny towel.* So good! Super sweet too. It’s gotten pretty late tonight, so I’ll save the sightseeing for tomorrow. For now, I’m just gonna finish all this fruit and crash. Good night! Time to “Enjoy China-na” — I’m excited for tomorrow! *Day 2: Dressing up with Mom in traditional Chinese Hanfu for a photo shoot.* *We tried on other outfits too—those videos are going up on my membership.* Good morning! Today we came to Shidu in Beijing. It’s a scenic spot in Fangshan District, southwest of Beijing. They’ve got tons of outdoor activities here, so I’m gonna have some fun with Mom today! Alright, let’s head in! Wow, the scenery’s gorgeous already. I wonder what’s waiting for us? There’s a list of activities like this… Wait, hold up—don’t these look terrifying?! Yeah, let’s just pretend I didn’t see that… *Honestly, every single one looks sketchy.* We’re walking up to the best viewpoint right now, but the path is basically a mountain trail—so tough! I was gonna tell you more about Shidu while walking, but… ChatGPT doesn’t work in China… Totally forgot about that. Since I can’t really look things up, I’ll just drop some info here. [Fun Fact] Long ago, this area had no bridges over the river, so there were 10 ferry crossings—hence the name “Shidu” (Ten Crossings). Look at this— these stairs just keep going forever! [Fun Fact] Mom has like 10x more stamina than me. [Fun Fact] Meanwhile, I’m already dying lol. When you come to China, there are a bunch of things to watch out for. I’d say there are three big ones. First, like I mentioned earlier— so many apps just don’t work here. LINE, Twitter (X), YouTube, TikTok… all completely unusable in China. So you absolutely need a VPN that supports them, or buy a SIM that works here. I came prepared, but even then— stuff like ChatGPT and TikTok still didn’t work for me. So yeah, heads up on that! Second thing: payments. Cash basically doesn’t work in China. So you’ll need the Alipay app or the WeChat app, and you can only pay with either Alipay or WeChat Pay. Nothing else is accepted. But you have to register those apps in advance, so make sure to set them up back in Japan. If you’re visiting, don’t forget that! And the last thing—number three—is the bathroom situation. There’s no toilet paper in the bathrooms here! Luckily for me… I’m not really the “go to the bathroom” type anyway (…right?). But if you are, definitely carry some toilet paper with you. Okay, let’s keep walking a bit more. Ugh… it’s way too tough to walk— so I kinda cheated. I paid 20 yuan (about $3)… and got on this sitting escalator thing, and now I’m just being carried up. It just keeps going up like this! This is fun! Right, Mom? Fun, right? *I was the one who wanted to ride, but made Mom pay lol.* So what is this even? An elevator? Escalator? A magic carpet? Yep, currently on a “magic carpet ride” (paid). And it’s actually pretty long! Yesss, I skipped so much walking! Normally we’d have to climb those endless stairs over there. Mom, aren’t you tired yet? No? Still not tired? Well, I’m totally wiped out already. Weakling. Such a baby. *She called me a baby and yeah… that kinda hurt.* We’re only halfway up, but— the view is already insane! *Mountains that scream “This is China.”* It’s a bit cloudy today, but still ridiculously beautiful. Apparently if you touch this rock, your luck goes up. Alright, let’s touch it then! Give me good luck! Is that it, Mom? Did it work? Do I have better luck now? Yep, luck’s up! *Now we’re crossing a bridge made of wooden planks.* Look, isn’t this super scary?! Feels like I’m gonna fall! We’ve got safety harnesses, so it’s technically safe… but omg this is terrifying… Isn’t this the kind of thing you always see on TikTok? So scary… *The fact that it’s abroad somehow makes it twice as scary.* And the wind is crazy too! Ahh, can’t look down, nope…! *Miraculously made it across alive.* *Pretty sure I used up all that “lucky rock” energy already.* There’s still a long way to the top. Looks like we have to climb all those stairs over there. Omg, that’s sooo long… Not sure if my legs can handle this… (self piggyback mode). There’s a waterfall! Wow… you can see it right from below. The cliffs here are so steep like this. *Totally said it in an “IKKO-style” voice.* Mom’s super energetic, walking way ahead of me— while I’m already exhausted. Mooom, I’m tired… *She’s so far ahead I wish I had a Mario dash mushroom.* This is tougher than “tough.” We made it! Here’s the view from the top. We were already so high up, so maybe it looks the same as before— but it’s still stunning. How many stairs did we even climb? We’ve been walking nonstop. Wow… Look, look! I found a suspension bridge with a glass bottom! We’re about to cross over to the other side now. Kinda scary though. Wow… Looking down, you can really see how high it is. If you fell, it’d be terrifying (duh?). So yeah, I’m walking right over the glass like this. Wow… *Mom’s avoiding the glass and walking on the frame instead.* This is fun! No, this is scary… But the view is incredible! *On camera it doesn’t look like much, but it’s crazy see-through.* *Drop your phone here and it’s game over.* How high do you think this is? Maybe 100 meters? *Looked it up—turns out it’s around 300 meters.* Mom’s freaking out behind me. Turns out scary stuff isn’t her thing. Guess I didn’t inherit that from her! ’Cause honestly, I love this kind of thrill. Now we’re hopping on this boat— to head all the way back down to the bottom. *Supposedly a chill activity where you can enjoy the view as you float.* Ahh scary—wait, that’s fast! Too fast! Hold on! *This isn’t a chill sightseeing ride…* *It’s basically a “hang on for dear life” challenge on a runaway boat.* Wait, this is insane! *China really prioritizes fun over safety lol.* Ow… Mom, my foot hurts… (inner voice). *They said we might get “a little wet,” but like… this?!* No way—I’m totally soaked! Heeey!! Anybody out there?! The water’s literally inside my clothes now… Wait, it’s not over yet…? *This isn’t an activity, it’s basically training camp.* Nope, not done yet. Omg finally—done! *Clothes, bag, shoes… all soaked 😇* *And of course… it’s still not over.* *The rapids were 10x stronger than expected—me and Mom are dead inside.* This has to be the end… right? Yeah… probably the end… Please let it be the end… Chinese attractions don’t exactly warn you about the whole “you’ll be drenched” thing. So yeah, I got soaked. Bought some clothes and changed. China-style. Guess I’ll be spending the rest of the day like this. Kinda embarrassed though… Funny thing is, there’s literally no one else here today. It’s just me and Mom. Only two visitors total. Crazy empty—lucky us! *Spotted bungee jumping in the distance.* There’s no way they’re dragging me there, right? …Right?? It’s my birthday trip after all! *But Mom wants a closer look, so off we go…* Whoa… The view from the very top is stunning. *They told me to check in my wet clothes, so here I am at the counter.* *Now I can sightsee without lugging stuff around—yay.* *I’m not good at reading or writing Chinese, so I have no idea what this says,* *but I’m just filling it out like Mom told me.* *?!* *Breaking news: that paper was actually a bungee jump waiver.* This is way too scary… There’s no human alive who isn’t scared of this. They’re like, “Just jump already!” “If you hesitate, it’s over!” Nope nope nope… too scary! *The staff are literally pushing me toward the edge.* Waitwaitwait—hold up, HOLD UP!! *Panic mode: ON.* AHHHHH too scaryyyy!! I can’t do this!! Nope nope nope, I seriously can’t do this! I quit… “Come on, you came all the way here, you should do it!” Mom… I really don’t think I can… “You’ll be fine!” No, I’m too scared… “Don’t worry, you got this!” “You can do it!” *Wait what—there’s a countdown?!* “They’re recording the whole time!” “Hurry up!” Nope nope nope nope! “It’s okay, you’re fine!” “Boom—done!” “Hurry, Yuuka!” I died. I literally died. *Meanwhile, Mom looks super satisfied.* Seriously, never do bungee jumping abroad. “You’re fine!” Nope, never again. I never wanna “fly in the sky” again. Why did this even happen…? Wasn’t this supposed to be a birthday trip?! Wait—I must’ve looked so ugly doing that… Ugh, it makes no sense. I’m definitely blurring my face in the upload. I’m so dizzy right now, what even was that… I’ve been tricked… *Even got rushed through the “rescue” part, like what?!* So, which was scarier—your first jump or this one? This one. Definitely this one… I seriously thought I was gonna die. *Shidu nearly killed me ten times over…* *Mom, stop making that “last scene of a movie” face lol.* *Miraculously survived.* Mom, that was way too scary… I honestly thought I was done for. The first time I bungee jumped was when I hit 100k subscribers. That time was scary too, but… an overseas bungee is just next-level terrifying. Absolutely terrifying. But hey, they gave me this certificate thing afterward. No clue what it says, but I’m kinda happy. And I just recently hit 500k subs, so I guess it was a good way to celebrate! Anyway, time to do something more birthday-like. Let’s go make some actual birthday memories! If you’ve never gone bungee jumping, don’t forget to hit subscribe! Ziguangyuan—an old-school noodle shop in Ximending, open 24/7.
Even though noodles are the star, apparently their braised pork rice is super popular. We just arrived at Ziguangyuan! This place is famous for its Peking duck. I told Mom I wanted to eat Peking duck, so— she brought me here to a really good spot! Alright, first up… What’s this? “Snow Beer” (Xuehua Chunsheng). I’m gonna try this beer called Xuehua Chunsheng! Here, let me pour some for Mom too—gimme your glass. Cheers! Kanpai! Why am I speaking Chinese while Mom’s speaking Japanese? lol *Mom was the one who ordered the beer, so it doesn’t count as me breaking my no-alcohol rule.* Omg, this is so good. Chinese beer is super easy to drink— really light and refreshing, not as strong as Japanese beer, so it goes down sooo smoothly. I could seriously chug this nonstop. But since Mom’s with me today, drinking is safe. Safety first! This is something called hóngguǒ, supposed to be sweet and sour. Never tried it before. What is this? What even…? Tastes kinda familiar, like I’ve had it before. But it’s actually really good! Here comes the Peking duck—wow… They carve it right in front of you like that! It looks sooo delicious. The duck’s all carved up now. It looks insanely good. You take one piece of skin… How many cucumbers though? Two? Three? *Following Mom’s Peking duck masterclass as I make mine.* Add some sweet bean sauce… then just a little bit of green onion. Wait, Mom, slow down! Do it slower, I can’t keep up! *She’s rushing me harder than the bungee staff did.* Like this? *Finally, add as much duck as you like on top.* *To fold it: bottom first, then the sides, so the fillings don’t fall out.* And that’s how you wrap it up! Time to dig in! Delicious! Seriously sooo good… This is just the best. Apparently little Yuuka used to love Peking duck as a kid. But I honestly don’t remember at all. When I was one, they shaved all my hair off. *Yep, childhood embarrassment exposed.* So yeah, at one year old I was totally bald—shaved head and all. It’s kind of a Chinese tradition, right? Like, shave the head and rub ginger on it— they say it makes your hair grow stronger. Apparently they kept ginger stocked in the fridge for me. And when I was just one, I’d open the fridge on my own— grab the ginger, and rub it on my own head! “Yep, that’s right.” What kind of kid does that?! Such a weird kid, right? “No, Yuuka was smart.” Smart? Really? She even stopped wearing diapers at one and a half. Apparently I didn’t wear diapers past one and a half! Isn’t that super early? Well, now I don’t really… um… go around checking, so I wouldn’t know anymore. But yeah, maybe I was kinda smart. When she was one and a half, in the middle of the night— Yuuka peed in her sleep once. And all by herself, she grabbed new underwear— and changed into it without telling anyone. In the morning, Mom asked— “Huh? Who left this here? Yuuka?” “Yep, that was meee.” *Had the special skill of covering up accidents at just 1½.* Of course, I don’t remember any of that… But seriously, one and a half is so early to ditch diapers, right? What even is this conversation—while eating Peking duck? Yeah, maybe let’s stop lol… Hey, remember when we went to Shirakawa-go for Mom’s birthday? Back in January? That was so fun. “Yeah, it was.” We should go again! “I’ll remember it forever, until I die.” *I feel so happy making these kinds of memories with Mom.* Cheers! That was delicious. The Peking duck was absolutely amazing. And that wraps up my Beijing trip with Mom! It’s been ages since I last came here— and I got to experience so many things, it was awesome. But omg, the bungee jump was terrifying. I seriously don’t think I’ll ever do one again. Like, ever. But aside from that, it was so much fun! There’ll be more China videos coming soon, so stay tuned! Thanks so much for watching till the very end! If you enjoyed this video, please like, comment, and subscribe! Bye-bye!
