Kirishima mountain range seen from Yatake Kogen ( Miyazaki Prefecture ) The Kirishima mountain range is a generic name for a group of volcanoes that spans Miyazaki and Kagoshima prefectures. In addition to being one of the “Best 100 Mountains of Japan”, the autumn colors are beautiful. It has been selected as one of the “100 best autumn leaves in Japan”. The Yatake Plateau is also served by the JR Hisatsu Line, and the panorama of the Kirishima is truly breathtaking. It is one of the “three major train windows in Japan”. Ebino Plateau Fudoike Pond ( Miyazaki Prefecture ) Ebino Plateau is a plateau located on the Miyazaki side of the Kirishima mountain range. Fudoike is a crater lake with a diameter of about 200 meters, and you can tour the surrounding lakes and marshes. This is the starting point of the “Pond Tour Nature Study Road”. Rokkannon-miike Pond Rokkannon-miike is a crater lake with a diameter of about 500 meters, located deep in the Fudo Pond. Mt. Karakuni Mt. Karakuni is 1,700m above sea level and is the highest peak in the Kirishima mountain range. There is an explosion crater 900 meters in diameter and 300 meters deep at the top of the mountain. It looks like two mountains overlapping. From the observatory located on the northern shore of Rokkannon-miike, you can see the view of Mount Karakuni from the opposite shore. 今回の動画では、九州の霧島連山の紅葉絶景を4ヶ所（矢岳高原・えびの高原不動池・六観音御池・大浪池）ご紹介します。
霧島連山（きりしまれんざん）は、九州南部の宮崎県と鹿児島県にまたがって広がる火山群の総称で「日本百名山」の一つに数えられます。最高峰の韓国岳（からくにだけ、標高1,700m）を中心に高千穂峰（1,574m）や新燃岳（1,421m）など、周辺に20あまりの火山が連なって山塊を成しています。山岳群に加えて大小の湖沼群を抱え、えびの高原、霧島温泉郷などの観光地も点在しており「日本百景」に選定されているほか、全域が紅葉名所として知られ「日本の紅葉百選」にも選定されています。例年の紅葉の見頃は10月下旬～11月上旬です。

■絶景1：矢岳高原
矢岳高原（やたけこうげん）は、宮崎県えびの市にある矢岳山（標高739m）付近の高原で、展望台からは眼前に「日本百名山」である霧島連山の全景が見渡せます。また、矢岳高原を通るJR九州の肥薩線の列車の窓から観る景観は「日本三大車窓」の一つに数えられます。

■絶景2：えびの高原不動池
えびの高原（えびのこうげん）は、霧島連山の宮崎県側に位置する高原で、不動池・六観音御池（ろっかんのんみいけ）・白紫池（びゃくしいけ）などの火口湖が点在し、これらの池を巡る「池めぐり自然研究路」が整備されていてトレッキングが楽しめます。また韓国岳や大浪池への登山道の起点となっていて、霧島連山の登山拠点の一つになっています。

不動池は直径約200mの火口湖で、周囲は高さ約20メートルの急斜面に囲まれており流入流出する川はありません。近くを県道1号が通っており、アクセスが非常に便利で、池を見下ろす駐車場付近は日中多くの見物客で賑わっています。この不動池沿いの駐車場は、六観音御池や白紫池へ通じる「池めぐり自然研究路」の起点の一つとなっています。

■絶景3：六観音御池
六観音御池（ろっかんのんみいけ）は、えびの高原の北西部にある直径約500mの火口湖で、湖畔の北岸に展望台が整備されており、池の対岸に霧島連山最高峰の韓国岳（からくにだけ）がそびえる絶景が見られます。特に秋の紅葉期には最も人気が高い絶景ポイントとなります。

■絶景4：大浪池
大浪池（おおなみいけ）は、霧島連山の鹿児島県側にある直径630m、周囲約2kmのほぼ円形の火口湖で、火山活動によって約4万年前に形成された火口の跡に水がたまってできたと推測されています。池を擁する火山の標高は1412m、水面の標高は1239mであり、霧島連山で最も高い場所にある湖です。
大浪池の北方には韓国岳がそびえます。韓国岳は「日本百名山」である霧島連山の最高峰で、標高は1,700m、宮崎県と鹿児島県の境界にまたがる山です。

えびの高原や大浪池へのアクセスは、宮崎県小林市と鹿児島県霧島市を結ぶ県道1号（えびのスカイライン）を利用します。県道1号沿いにいくつか散策や登山の拠点となる駐車場が整備されており、「大浪池登山口」前にある駐車場から登山道を登ってゆくと片道約40分ほどで大浪池に到達し、 火口の尾根を巡って池を一周するコースも整備されています。また、六観音御池に行く場合は不動池の近くにある駐車場から歩くと最も近いです。

Kirishima mountain range is a generic name for a group of volcanoes stretching across Miyazaki and Kagoshima prefectures in southern Kyushu, and is one of the 100 most famous mountains in Japan.

The highest peak, Mt. Karakuni (1,700 m above sea level), is at the center of the mountain chain, with Takachiho Peak (1,574 m above sea level), Shinmoedake (1,421 m above sea level), and more than 20 other volcanoes in the vicinity forming a mountain mass.

In addition to the mountains, there are lakes and marshes of various sizes, and the Ebino Highlands and Kirishima Hot Springs Village are dotted with tourist attractions such as the Ebino Highlands and the Kirishima Hot Springs Village, which have been selected as one of the “Best 100 Views of Japan”.

The Kirishima mountain range is known as a famous place for autumnal leaves and has been selected as one of the “100 best autumnal leaves in Japan”. The best time to view the autumn leaves is from late October to early November.

Ebino Highlands is a plateau located on the Miyazaki Prefecture side of the Kirishima Mountains, and is dotted with crater lakes such as Fudo Pond, Rokkannon-miike and Byakushi Pond, and you can enjoy trekking along the “Pond Tour Nature Research Road” that tours these lakes. In addition, it is the starting point of the mountain trail to Mt Karakuni and Onami Pond, and it is one of the hiking bases of Kirishima mountain range.

Onami-ike is a 630-meter-diameter, 2-kilometer-perimeter crater lake located on the Kagoshima side of the Kirishima mountain range, and is thought to have been formed by water accumulating in the remains of a crater formed about 40,000 years ago by volcanic activity. The water surface of the pond is 1,239 m above sea level, making it the highest lake in the Kirishima mountain range.
