ほっと石川【第72回重蔵神社太鼓打ち競技会】
Hello everyone. This is Master J from J Channel . In this episode of my travelogue, I’d like to share with you the 72nd Juzo Shrine Taiko Drumming Conference, held next to the Kiriko Hall in Wajima City . This tournament has a long history and has been held annually, but due to various circumstances, including the COVID-19 pandemic, the earthquake, and floods, it was held for the first time in four years. The competition consisted of a children’s division, a senior division, and a general division . 46 groups of children, primarily from the Noto region, participated, along with two senior groups and a whopping 64 groups in the general division. The video you’re watching now shows the winners in the children’s taiko division. Even though they were children’s taiko, the incredible power, acting ability, and powerful drumming really made me realize that the skills are being passed down. While there weren’t many tourists at the venue this time, there were still many team members and related parties in attendance. Yes, this is the general division. [Music] Each team had a variety of movements and styles. They all followed the same rhythm, but with a variety of patterns, so listening to them was never boring. Each team’s individuality was richly expressed. These two, from the senior division, were particularly unusual this time, as both won prizes in the same row . [Music] [Music] [Music] [ Music] [Music] [Music] [ Music] Incidentally , it was the first time these two had played together. As expected. The adult division had three stages: the first round, the second round, and the final. There were 64 teams, but they were whittled down to the final 10 teams . As expected, by the time of the final selection, the two of them were in perfect sync, and their powerful, heart-pounding rivalry resonated throughout. By the time each group finished, the sun had already set, and it was quite a good time. Finally, the sun finally set. The shutters were then opened, and we were inside the Kiriko Hall. The kiriko lanterns were also lit, adding to the excitement of the competition. After all the competitions were over, the winner, as they are called here, is appointed to the rank of ozeki. These two individuals were appointed to this title. The 72nd ozeki were Imai Subaru and Kamata Tatsuya. Congratulations! We will now begin the demonstration. Please get ready. Thank you very much. [Applause] Thus, the Juzo Shrine Taiko Drumming Competition came to a powerful close. I believe the sound of these drums is not simply a competition, but a testament to the bonds of community that will be passed on to future generations. The 2024 Noto Peninsula earthquake left Wajima and the rest of Noto in great pain. Yet, it is the unchanging lights of the festival and the ever-resonating sound of the drums that have sustained people’s lives and hearts. Taiko gives us the strength to overcome sadness and awakens the courage to start walking again. This tournament is also a great sign of hope for us as we walk together on the road to recovery, and I believe that the children’s determination, the passion of the young, and the skilled sounds of the elders will all shine a light on the future of Noto and become a powerful heartbeat for recovery. Well, that’s all for today’s video. Thank you for watching. If you enjoyed it, please subscribe to the channel and give it a thumbs up. See you in the next video.
