Kumamoto Prefecture Sightseeing Part 4 – Aso/Kumamoto Area Edition – August 10-12, 2024 Moving on. Departing. (1:50 PM) Our next destination is also in the direction of Takamori Town, Aso District, Kumamoto Prefecture. (Nearby) We’re almost at Takamori Station (Takamori Town). Here, you’ll find the Frankie statue. Takamori Station has been renovated. I liked the old station building and its lovely atmosphere, but the new one might be nice too. I’m surprised. *View of the old station building (photographed July 2021) * After some research, it appears the new station building was completed in April 2023. It also seems to have a community center attached. We arrived at Takamori Station (Takamori Town). (2:00 PM) ~Frankie Statue in Takamori Station (Takamori Town)~ Since the building has been renovated, we’ll take a little stroll around in addition to the Frankie statue. We’ve arrived at the Frankie statue. This statue is also high quality and large. The “ONE PIECE Hino Kuni AR Photo Event” is currently being held, and it seems there’s a train like this. It looks like it would be fun for kids. I took a little stroll around the station. I received a commemorative card inside the station. It seems you can receive commemorative cards and purchase figurines here. They also sell souvenirs, so I took a quick look. This is a commemorative tin from the AR Photo Event. I received a commemorative card. (5th photo) The station has many autographed autographs by manga artists, so I took a look. *The autographs of many famous manga artists, including Oda-sensei, the author of One Piece. That’s an incredible number of messages. It seems to be a way to support Kumamoto’s reconstruction, so I’m grateful. There are many manga I know. This is the overall atmosphere. It seems you can purchase tickets for the “Sunny Train” here. There are also autographed autographs in this rest area. I went outside. While the overall landscape has changed significantly, the location of the “Blanky Statue” appears to be the same as before. *A view of the old station building (photographed in July 2021)* We headed to the nearby Takamori Tourism Promotion Organization to get a goshuin (stamp) from Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu Shrine. We arrived at the Takamori Tourism Promotion Organization. We received a goshuin. We received a goshuin. We returned to the station building. We had planned to move on, but a train was coming in, so we decided to stop by a little longer. Since there were fewer people, we decided to look at the Franky statue a little longer. The train departs. We move on. We depart. (2:45 PM) We’re about to arrive at Takamori Spring Water Tunnel Park. We enter the parking lot. We arrived at Takamori Spring Water Tunnel Park. (2:50 PM) ~ Takamori Spring Water Tunnel Park ~ It’s been 15 years since I last visited. I’m looking forward to seeing what it’s like. It’s bringing back memories. The view was like this. I’m sure there was a tunnel in the back, and I think they said that construction was halted because spring water appeared during tunnel excavation. (The area has been turned into a park.) I’ll try touching the spring water. I head further. There are children in the water. They look like they’re having fun. I enter the tunnel. Admission is 600 yen (300 yen for 2 adults). It’s cool inside the tunnel. It’s said to be 17°C year-round, cool in the summer and warm in the winter. I can see the Tanabata decorations. They’re so beautiful. This is a great spot for taking commemorative photos. I don’t think there used to be monitors on the walls. It’s amazing. This is the far end of the tunnel. I’ll take a look at the famous “Water Pearl.” There ‘s a “waterwheel.” It looks like a “micro hydroelectric power generation demonstration test facility. ” I can see the “Water Pearl.” I wonder if this facility generates its own electricity? It’s very mysterious. I head to the far end of the tunnel. The spring water at the end is amazing. The water is very cold. I’m about to head back. It seems like there’s something there, so I’ll stop by. It says “Mysterious Spring.” There are lots of fish. It has a mystical atmosphere. It’s cool and comfortable, and the lights are beautiful. There are quite a lot of people. It’s popular. There are so many decorations, it’s beautiful. We’re almost at the exit. It’s getting hot again. We head back to the parking lot. We move on. We’re leaving. (3:40 PM) We’re almost at Shirakawa Springs. We enter the parking lot. It’s been a while since I’ve been to Shirakawa Springs. (Maybe about 20 years.) It’s a little before 4 PM, but there are still a lot of people. Every parking lot is full. We arrived at Shirakawa Springs. (3:45 PM) ~ Shirakawa Springs ~ It’s been a while, so I wonder what it’s like. It used to be quiet with only a moderate number of people, but maybe it’s busy now. This is the torii gate of Shirakawa Yoshimi Shrine. Up ahead is Shirakawa Springs. We go further in. I feel like there weren’t any shops next to the torii gate before. It ‘s bustling with people. There are more people and shops than before. The atmosphere is dignified and lovely. Everyone is cooling off in the river. The water is clean and refreshing, I guess. I touch the spring water a little. It’s cool and refreshing. I take a photo of the water below. (It’s beautiful!) Entering the Shirakawa Springs. I’m looking forward to it. I’ll also get a “Shrine Seal” from Shirakawa Yoshimi Shrine. I pay a contribution of 100 yen (high school students and above, free for junior high school students and below). I also ask for a shrine seal. Compared to before, it’s now beautifully maintained and safe. The Shirakawa Springs is a famous water source in Kumamoto Prefecture, selected as one of the “100 Famous Waters.” It seems that 60 tons of water gushes out every minute at a temperature of 14 degrees Celsius throughout the year. It seems that you can drink the spring water and take it home with you. The view from this angle is the same as before. (I remember.) Beautiful water is gushing forth. It’s gushing forth with incredible force. The water is truly beautiful. There’s an incredible amount of water. This is Shirakawa Yoshimi Shrine. We pay our respects. There seems to be a place called Megami Ishi Park nearby. This is what the shrine grounds look like. There are quite a lot of people there. We also take a photo of what’s under the water here. (It’s beautiful!) We receive a goshuin (temple seal). We received a goshuin (temple seal). It’s about time to head back. We stop off at a shop along the way. We stop off at the Crystal Museum. There are rows of huge crystals. (Amazing) They sell a variety of products. This is the largest crystal in the shop. *Comparing the size with my wife* They also sell small items like these. We move on. Let’s stop by the shop next to the entrance . We go inside. This is what the shop looks like. These are the famous Mizumanju (water dumplings). They look delicious, but they’re quite expensive. We return to the parking lot. It was fun. This concludes the main story (Part 4). See you next time. (Thank you)
