[#3]忍野八海と美食の宿「鱒の家」に宿泊

Moving on from Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine , we arrived at Oshino Hakkai this time. Oshino Hakkai is a component of the Mount Fuji World Heritage Site. Meltwater from the snow that falls on Mount Fuji is filtered through underground lava over decades, becoming crystal clear water that springs forth. In 1985, it was selected as one of Japan’s 100 best waters. Around the Oshino Hakkai, there are many restaurants and souvenir shops, so you can take a break and enjoy shopping. Around the ponds, there are thatched-roof buildings and watermills, giving you a sense of traditional Japanese atmosphere. We went on a weekday, but it was packed. The souvenir shops and rest areas were also full. We were amazed at how clear the water was! It may be hard to tell with a camera, but it was surprisingly clear in person! Now, let’s take a tour of all the ponds of Oshino Hakkai! As the name “Oshino Hakkai” suggests, there are eight ponds, but the “Deguchi Pond” we are heading to is the only one in a remote location, so there were hardly any people there. It had a slightly scary atmosphere. Next is “Okama Pond,” which is said to have been named after the hot water that springs up in the kettle, just like boiling water. There is also a legend that is passed down about Okama Pond . It is the smallest pond among the Eight Seas, with a depth of 4 meters. Next is “Choshi Pond,” which is said to have been named after the shape of a choshi (Japanese sake cup) used to pour sake. It is said to be a pond of matchmaking . Next is Wakuike Pond, the largest pond in the Eight Seas. This pond boasts a rich spring water volume and beautiful scenery, and is 4 meters deep. In 1983, NASA used the water from this spring pond for an experiment to make snow in space. There is a lot of money stored here, but there is a sign that says throwing money is prohibited. Next is Nigoriike Pond. Although its name is “Muddy Pond,” the water is now clear and not muddy. It joins the Ahara River and is 0.5 meters deep. Kagamiike Pond offers the chance to see an upside-down Mt. Fuji. Shobuike Pond, as its name suggests, has irises, although the water is not very clear . Have you noticed yet? In fact, I have only introduced seven ponds so far! The last one cannot be seen even if you go around normally! Do you remember this place we passed at the beginning? It is a popular photo spot with an excellent view of Mt. Fuji, but the last pond is located inside the “Hazelnut Forest Museum”! There are opening hours, and the admission fee is 300 yen. The crowds from earlier have now become a quiet world, as if to say nothing of the past. This is a building that exhibits old folk tools, and you can get a real feel for what life was like in the past. It was amazing that it was built without any heavy machinery. You can also see old furniture here. It’s the oldest thatched roof house in Oshino Village, and you can enter this historic building, built 200 years ago, and go up to the third floor . It was a valuable experience! And at the back is Sokonashiike Pond. This completes our tour of all eight ponds! The two ducks have found the perfect home! There is a large pond called “Koi no Ike” (Carp Pond) in front, but Sokonashiike Pond is at the very back, so be careful! Finally, we climbed up to the observation deck! There is an admission fee, but if you go to Oshino Hakkai, be sure to check it out! As soon as we entered, we saw this… I touched it…lol. We returned to our lodging ! There is also a suspension bridge on the premises! There are fish swimming in the pond . It’s almost time for dinner! The reviews were good, so I’m looking forward to it! The farmed trout rice was delicious – the salt-grilled sweetfish, the fried baby trout, everything was delicious! I want to eat it every day! lol It was a very satisfying dinner! After that, we relaxed in our room. My wife made a kaleidoscope at Lake Saiko Iyashino Sato Nemba, so we played with it for the first time in decades lol Turning on the music creates a great atmosphere lol Good morning! Today is our last day! There are many different types of breakfast! This is apparently homemade konjac! The fluffy grated yam feels like staying here will extend your life. Peko-chan came to see us off! I’m allergic to cats, but I couldn’t help but touch them lol That was a little unfair, wasn’t it lol Lastly, we went to a few spots with views of Mt. Fuji! Thank you for watching until the end! Please subscribe to our channel!!!
