These are fireworks from the Shibata Festival in Shibata Castle Town, Shibata City, Niigata Prefecture.
Due to location restrictions, the 2025 launch will be the last, so we captured these aerial shots using a drone.
From a location far from the event venue, an access control zone was set up, and the aerial shots were taken with a 3x optical zoom telephoto lens, flying within visual line of sight at night.
The background music, “Across the Rainbow Bridge,” the Shibata City song, is a spring song, and as the lyrics by renowned lyricist Taka Takashi say, a gentle breeze blew in the spring sky of Shibata, matching the lyrics.

Shibata City Song, “Across the Rainbow Bridge.”
To commemorate the 70th anniversary of Shibata City’s incorporation, a new Shibata City song was completed in 2017.
For the song’s creation, Shibata native lyricist Taka Takashi was commissioned to handle overall production and lyrics, while music and arrangement were commissioned to Megumi Wakakusa. The song is sung by Yoko Seri and the Suginami Children’s Choir.
The city song is a refreshing and warm piece that evokes the beautiful scene of Shibata, with a rainbow of colors across a clear blue sky and cherry blossoms fluttering in the wind.
We hope that the city song will be loved for many years to come as a treasured possession of our citizens, and that it will be sung by people of all ages, from children to the elderly.
Shibata City Song
~Across the Rainbow Bridge~
Lyrics by Takashi Taka
Composition and Arrangement by Megumi Wakakusa
Sung by Yoko Seri
The sun shines in the sky after the rain clears,
A rainbow of seven colors unfolds.
People don’t choose the town they’re born into,
A town doesn’t choose the people who live there.
But there is a future for each and every one of us…
Hearts that connect, smiles that embrace.
I love Shibata, the sunny town.
A gentle breeze blows again today.
The castle’s stone walls continue to tell the story of this town’s distant memories.
As time passes, the people, the townscape,
Even the words we speak change.
But there is something we continue to protect…
A ray of hope, the courage to believe.
I love Shibata, the town where my mother lives.
A gentle breeze blows again today.
Cherry blossom blizzard, flowers.
Fly high into the sky.
Across that Rainbow Bridge
Cherry blossom blizzard, flowers
Fly high into the sky
Across that Rainbow Bridge
Fly high into the sky…
Fly high into the sky…
