（11か国語字幕）信じられない絶景がここに！40年ぶりの北海道① 網走・能取岬のサンゴ草群落地
We are starting our Hokkaido series. Actually, 40 years ago, I toured Japan and visited Hokkaido. However, after becoming a working adult, I only visited on business trips and never had time to stay leisurely. Finally, I got some free time and was able to revisit the spectacular eastern Hokkaido region after 40 years. In the first episode, we introduce the Abashiri area, including Ozora Town, Notoro Cape, and Lake Notoro. This area is known as the filming location for the movies “Kita no Sakuramori” and “Shiawase no Kiiroi Hankachi,” and also for the drama “Antarctic Chef.” Furthermore, it was featured as a scenic spot in a JAL commercial starring Arashi. So, what kind of scenery will it show us? Let’s get started! First, the symbol of Abashiri, Notoro Cape. It is a dramatic cape that juts out into the Sea of Okhotsk. The white Notoro Cape lighthouse welcomes visitors. In fact, this place has been the filming location for many works. Movies such as “Kita no Sakuramori” and “Shiawase no Kiiroi Hankachi” starring Ken Takakura. “Antarctic Chef” starring Masato Sakai, and the JAL commercial featuring Arashi. You can experience the spectacular scenery captured on the screen with your own eyes. Next, we introduce the miracle lake that turns bright red. It is the coral grass colony spread across Lake Notoro. Coral grass is actually a plant called Akkeshi-sou. In autumn, the entire area turns crimson, like a red carpet. At one point, it nearly went extinct due to environmental degradation. However, thanks to local efforts, it has revived—a “scenery of regeneration.” It has also attracted attention from overseas as the “Red Lake.” Akkeshi-sou is a mysterious plant that grows in wetlands where seawater enters. In autumn, in response to salinity, cold, and strong sunlight, red pigments called anthocyanins are produced in its stems and leaves. This colors the entire area vivid red, creating a spectacular scene resembling coral in the sea. It is truly a fantastical and dazzling red. Tokoro Town, facing the Sea of Okhotsk, is one of Hokkaido’s top scallop-producing areas. The “Scallop Tower” was built as a symbol of the town. It is modeled after a giant scallop shell, symbolizing the town’s love for scallops. From the top, you can view the Sea of Okhotsk and Lake Saroma. The so-called “Scallop Tower” is officially named the Tokoro Forest Park Centennial Observation Tower, and the height of the tower is about 30 meters. It stands on a hill about 100 meters above sea level. From the observation deck, you can see the Sea of Okhotsk and Lake Saroma. Inside the tower are 100 steps, built to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the founding of Tokoro Town (completed in 1983). Tokoro scallops are known to grow large, and in fact, scallops can live for over 10 years. You can tell their age by counting the rings on their shells. Their unique shape against the sea background is perfect for photography. During sunset, the scenery becomes particularly magical. In Hokkaido, there are famous straight roads like the “Road to Heaven” and the Milky Road, but unnamed roads are also wonderful. Even without a name, these straight roads allow you to fully enjoy Hokkaido’s natural beauty, making them hidden scenic spots. Similarly, there are many attractive trees, whether they have a name or not. Famous trees like the Seven Stars Tree or Ken and Mary Tree are special, but countless trees without names can also move your heart. A journey to discover these unknown trees offers an exclusive scenic experience that won’t be found in guidebooks. It’s like walking through nature’s own artwork, allowing you to enjoy such special moments. Thank you for watching. C'est une vidéo qui touche le cœur. Revenir dans un lieu aussi spectaculaire après 40 ans, c'est comme un voyage dans le temps. Tu as parfaitement su retranscrire la puissance et la beauté des paysages d'Hokkaido. Ton commentaire sur les routes et les arbres sans nom, qui sont pourtant des joyaux, résume si bien l'esprit de l'exploration. J'ai adoré la façon dont tu as mis en lien ces paysages grandioses avec leur histoire cinématographique. Le cap Notsu et le "Lac Rouge" sont des décors de film vivants. C'est fascinant de voir ces lieux et de savoir qu'ils ont inspiré de grandes œuvres. Bravo et merci pour cette première étape. 見渡す限り自然というのは北海道ならではですね。こうして見ると、九州は、いろんな人工物が、ちまちまと目につきます。
サンゴ草群落地が素晴らしいです。本当に赤いじゅうたんのようでした。しばらく北海道に行っていないので、このシリーズはありがたいです。
