【風薫る港町で、心ゆくままに旅をする】函館旅 4K
Hello everyone! This is Ken. The plane ride was so beautiful, I was excited right from the start! This time, I’m traveling to Hakodate. I’ll be traveling by tram! You can get around the main tourist spots by tram, so I recommend purchasing a free pass! Goryokaku Tower is 107 meters tall (the observation deck is 90 meters high). I take the elevator up to the observation deck! The interior of the elevator is also elaborate! I arrived at the observation deck! From the observation deck, I can see the star-shaped castle of Goryokaku Park! I can see Mount Hakodate, Hakodate City, and the Tsugaru Strait! It’s so beautiful. The observation deck displays models and panels that tell the history of Goryokaku. There’s also a thrilling glass floor, so I can see directly below! It’s scary… There’s also a shop on the first floor where you can purchase Goryokaku and Shinsengumi merchandise . Goryokaku Ruins: Japan’s first Western-style castle, designated a National Special Historic Site. The scenery is rich in nature and refreshing! Hakodate Magistrate’s Office : The Hakodate Magistrate’s Office was established by the Edo Shogunate for defense and governance of Hokkaido. It was restored in 2010 based on documents and other materials. You can tour the original offices and large halls! Experience the atmosphere of the late Edo period and feel as if you’ve traveled back in time . The wooden ambiance is warm and cozy. I personally thought the courtyard was beautiful! There is also an area where you can learn about history and architectural techniques. It’s a truly beautiful building! Hakodate Shunka Kaiten Sushi Restaurant is located right in front of Goryokaku Park. It’s a conveyor belt sushi restaurant where the chefs prepare the sushi right in front of you. The Shunka Ten-piece Platter (2,200 yen ) is fresh, large, and delicious! I couldn’t resist adding some fatty tuna! The fresh, bluefin tuna fatty tuna (770 yen) melted in my mouth in an instant… This was the best sushi restaurant! On to our next destination! We can take the ropeway to the top of Mount Hakodate ! The ride is just 3 minutes! The scenery gradually unfolds, and it’s so beautiful! We’ve arrived at the top! It’s a magnificent view overlooking Hakodate city! You can see the sunset from the Hakodate Bay side, opposite the city! This view is also amazing… We’ll relax until night… It’s a breathtaking view. It’s like an upside-down jewel box… This night view is considered one of the “Three Great Night Views in the World.” You can see from Hakodate Port all the way to the city! It’s a bit sad to leave, but we take the ropeway back down to the city center. Lucky Pierrot Marina Suehiro Branch When you think of Hakodate, you think of Lucky Pierrot! The most popular set (Chinese Chicken Burger) at 968 yen is by far the most delicious, packed with chunks of sweet and spicy fried chicken! The unique interior makes it a delight to just be inside! We head back to the hotel with a view of Hakodate Port… It’s Day 2! Hakodate City Seikan Ferry Memorial Museum: Mashu Maru. The Mashu Maru is a ferry that once connected Honshu and Hokkaido. Inside the ship, you’ll find exhibits that teach you about the ferry’s history and how it works. You can actually see the ship’s parts and engine mechanics! You can even enter the wheelhouse and operate the controls! You’ll feel like a captain! The view while feeling the sea breeze is exceptional! From the top deck of the ship, you can enjoy a 360-degree view of Mount Hakodate, Hakodate Port, and the Hakodate cityscape! Hakodate Morning Market: A wide variety of fresh seafood unique to Hokkaido, including crab, Atka mackerel, kelp, and salmon roe. There’s even a place where you can try squid fishing! It’s a very lively place! Hakodate Morning Market Sakaeya Shokudo: This restaurant is characterized by its friendly staff and lively atmosphere. The 5-item bowl (2,970 yen ) was fresh, large, and delicious! We even got some squid sashimi as a complimentary treat! We took a break at Starbucks, a stylish renovated warehouse! Starbucks Coffee Hakodate Bayside Branch. This Starbucks is beautiful even at night! We relaxed in a window seat overlooking the Red Brick Warehouse. Kanemori Red Brick Warehouse: This historic warehouse, built during the Meiji era, is a representative tourist spot in the Bay Area. It’s filled with many unique shops selling Hakodate and Hokkaido souvenirs, sweets, accessories, and miscellaneous goods. The retro feel of the red bricks contrasts beautifully with the ocean! There’s even a music box specialty store, perfect for souvenirs! With a variety of shops, including accessory stores, you can enjoy it for hours! Hachimanzaka: A beautiful slope stretching straight down to the sea, known as one of Hakodate’s most scenic spots. Its name comes from the fact that Hakodate Hachiman Shrine once stood at the top of the slope. Enjoy the magnificent view overlooking Hakodate Port! Motomachi Park is located on a hilltop, offering a panoramic view of Hakodate Port. Enjoy strolling through the historic, retro buildings! The former Hokkaido Prefectural Government Hakodate Branch Office is designated a tangible cultural property of Hokkaido and currently serves as a restaurant. Jolly Jellyfish Motomachi Park Branch has a retro interior and is very cozy. Cake set: 880 yen. The former Hakodate Ward Public Hall is a beautiful Western-style building representative of the Meiji era and designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan. There is also a floor where you can learn about the history of architectural styles. The spacious, high-ceilinged second-floor hall is a spectacular space. It is renowned for its pillarless design, resulting in excellent acoustics that allow sound to resonate beautifully. Due to its historical value and high-quality construction, it is still used as a venue for concerts and other events. The second-floor balcony offers a spectacular view of Hakodate Port and the cityscape! It’s like being in a foreign country! The delicate decorations and beautiful wood-grain floors create an elegant atmosphere. It was a wonderful building! The former British Consulate ‘s office and official residence have been recreated, allowing visitors to experience British history and culture. The view from the windows is also beautiful! You can really get into the British spirit! There are also plenty of exhibits, allowing you to learn about Hakodate’s history. There’s also a garden, and depending on the season, you can see a rose garden. Hakodate is full of beautiful buildings, including churches, making it a fun city to stroll around! The nostalgic streetscape complements the trams perfectly! Hachimanzaka is also beautiful at night! Unlike during the day, it’s lit up, adding a whole new charm. We took a stroll around Hakodate Port at night. The illuminated lights reflecting on the water create a fantastical atmosphere. The Red Brick Warehouse also has a romantic atmosphere at night! It’s almost time to head back to the hotel. It’s our final day! Hakodate Ekimae Yokocho is a space reminiscent of the nostalgic Showa era, where you can stroll and dine while enjoying the retro atmosphere. It’s conveniently located near the station and has souvenir shops. A cute music box greets you at the entrance to Hakodate Meijikan. This stately building was built as Hokkaido’s first post office, and retains many of its original features . Inside, there are shops selling glassware, music boxes, and teddy bears, making it a great place to find souvenirs. Valuable antique items are on display at the back of the second floor. The Hakodate City Community Exchange and Urban Development Center is home to the oldest and most unusual manual elevator north of Tohoku, and staff will operate it for you if you ask! The oldest and most unusual manual elevator north of Tohoku, and staff will operate it for you if you ask! It’s a magical experience, as if you’ve traveled back in time! The view from the top floor is also beautiful! I also got a ride back! Lucky Pierrot Jujigai Ginza store has 5,000 Santa Claus dolls on display. You can enjoy the Christmas spirit all year round! The Chinese Chicken Omelette Rice for 940 yen was very filling and delicious! Our trip is almost over… It was a wonderful trip, where we were able to enjoy the beautiful, exotic cityscape and delicious food! Thank you for watching! If you enjoyed it, please like and subscribe!
