Unzen Nita Pass ( Nagasaki Prefecture ) Mt. Unzen seen from Ariake Sea Mt. Unzen is a volcano that rises in the center of the Shimabara Peninsula in Nagasaki Prefecture It consists of more than 20 peaks including Heisei Shinzan and Fugen-dake Nita Pass is located between Mt. Myoken and Nodake in Unzen at an altitude of 1,080m. It is the center of Unzen tourism, accessible by the Nita Pass circular road. It is famous as a azalea spot in spring, but the autumn colors are also wonderful. It has been selected as one of the “100 best autumn leaves in Japan”. Mt. Heisei Shinzan Heisei Shinzan (1,483m) is a mountain formed by volcanic activity between 1990 and 1995. and became the highest peak of Unzen, surpassing Fugen-dake (1,359m). Unzen Ropeway Nita Pass is also home to the first station of the Unzen Ropeway, which leads to Mt Myoken. You can see the autumn colors of the Nita Pass from the vicinity of the summit of Mt Myoken. Unfortunately, the summit was covered by clouds this time… Mt.Takabuto and Mt. Senganzan ( Kumamoto Prefecture ) Mt.Takabuto is a scenic spot with a view of Mt Unzen and Amakusa Matsushima. It is 117 meters above sea level and is designated as a national “scenic spot”. The autumn colors are about 2 to 3 weeks later than at Nita Pass. Mt. Unzen seen from Mt.Senganzan Mt. Senganzan is another scenic spot with a view of Mt. Unzen and Amakusa Matsushima. It is 162 meters above sea level and is also designated as a national “scenic spot”. 今回の動画では、長崎県にある雲仙岳の紅葉絶景を3ヶ所（仁田峠・高舞登山・千巌山）ご紹介します。
雲仙岳（うんぜんだけ）は、長崎県の島原半島中央部にそびえる火山で、最高峰の平成新山（1,483m）を中心に、普賢岳（1,359m）、国見岳（1,347m）、妙見岳（1,333m）、野岳（1,142m）、九千部岳（1,062m）、矢岳（943m）など総計20以上の峰々から構成され、「雲仙岳」はその総称です。雲仙岳を中心とした火山群として「雲仙天草国立公園」に属しています。

■絶景1：仁田峠
仁田峠（にたとうげ）は、雲仙岳の中腹にある峠で、春のツツジ名所（ミヤマキリシマ）として知られていますが、秋の紅葉も素晴らしく「日本の紅葉百選」にも選定されています。例年の紅葉の見頃は10月下旬～11月上旬です。
仁田峠から、1990年の普賢岳の噴火で誕生した「平成新山」がよく見え、眼下に天草方面の海も望めます。仁田峠には大規模な駐車場が整備されており、展望台の脇からは妙見岳の山頂へ「雲仙ロープウェイ」が運行されており、雲仙登山の拠点になっています。

仁田峠へのアクセスは、島原半島の中央部を通る国道57号から延長8.2kmで全線左回り一方通行の仁田峠循環自動車道路を利用し、入り口から順に第二展望所、第一展望所があります。
第二展望所は平成新山の火砕流跡から有明海まで一望できる展望台が設置されています。第一展望所がいわゆる「仁田峠」で、雲仙ロープウェイが発着しています。

■絶景2 / 3：高舞登山と千巌山
熊本県上天草市にある高舞登山（たかぶとやま）や千巌山（せんがんざん）は雲仙と天草松島を望む景勝地で、いずれも国の「名勝」に指定されています。高舞登山の標高は117ｍ、千巌山の標高は162ｍ、仁田峠よりも2～3週間ほど紅葉が遅れます。

雲仙は過去に大災害をもたらした火山としても知られており、江戸時代の1792年に雲仙岳眉山で発生した山体崩壊とこれによる津波災害は、「島原大変肥後迷惑」と呼ばれ、死者、行方不明者1万5000人という、有史以来日本最大の火山災害となっています。
また近年では、1991年に発生した火砕流でも43名の尊い命が犠牲になりました。

海上にそびえる雄大な山並みが魅力の雲仙岳は、過去に何度か火山災害も発生していますが、まさに地球の鼓動を体感できる紅葉スポットです。

In this video, we’ll introduce three stunning spots for viewing autumn foliage at Mount Unzen in Nagasaki Prefecture.
Mt. Unzen (Unzen-dake) is a volcano located in the center of the Shimabara Peninsula in Nagasaki Prefecture, with the highest peak, Heisei-shinzan (1,483m) at the center, and more than 20 other peaks including Mt. Unzen is the generic name for this group of peaks. Mount Unzen is the center of the volcanic group that belongs to Unzen Amakusa National Park.

It is also known as a volcano that has caused major disasters in the past. The collapse of the mountain and the resulting tsunami disaster that occurred on Mount Bizan on Unzen in 1792 during the Edo period and resulted in 15,000 deaths and missing people, making it the largest volcanic disaster in Japan since the beginning of history.
More recently, a pyroclastic flow that occurred in 1991 also claimed 43 lives.

Nita Pass is located halfway up Mt. Unzen and is known as a famous azalea viewing spot (Miyama-Kirishima) in spring, but the autumn colors are so beautiful that it has been selected as one of the “100 Best Autumn Leaves in Japan”.

From the Nita Pass, you can see “Heisei Shinzan” which was created by the eruption of Mount Fugen in 1990, and you can see the sea in the direction of Amakusa below. There is a large parking lot at the Nita Pass, and the “Unzen Ropeway” runs from the side of the observatory to the top of Mt Myoken, which is the base for climbing Unzen.

To get to the Nita Pass, use the 8.2km-long, one-way Nita Pass Circular Motorway. From the entrance, there is the second observatory and the first observatory.

The second observatory has an observatory where you can see the whole view from the pyroclastic flow of Heisei Shinzan to the Ariake Sea. The first observatory is the so-called “Nita Pass” where the Unzen Ropeway arrives and departs.

Takabutoyama and Senganzan in Kamiawakusa City, Kumamoto Prefecture, are scenic spots overlooking Unzen and Amakusa Matsushima, both of which are designated as national scenic spots, and the fall colors are about 2-3 weeks later than those of Nita Pass.
