赤坂氷川祭
東京十社（1975年に定められた東京23区内の格式ある10の神社）の一つに数えられる赤坂氷川神社の祭り。一年で最も重要な祭事である例大祭の他、3日間に分けて祭りが行われる。東京・赤坂の街中を巡る山車巡行が名物で、毎年大勢の人で賑わう。赤坂氷川神社で1,050年続けられてきた例大祭は、神輿や山車は出ず、境内にて厳かに神事が執り行われる。そして、世間一般に“お祭りの日”として認識される「神幸祭」では、戦時中に焼失した神輿と、約400年前の江戸時代から奇跡的に残る貴重な山車が様々な隊列とともに、じつに100年ぶりに連合巡行する。盛大に練り歩く行列と道には露店も多く出て、大勢の住民や観光客で盛り上がりを見せる。その他、「宵宮巡行」では、夜の赤坂の街を山車や神輿が巡行する。祭りのクライマックス「神幸祭」が行われます。2本の氷川山車と16基もの町会神輿が一斉に連なり、街全体が熱気と掛け声に包まれます。赤坂通りから乃木坂、そして東京ミッドタウンまで続く壮大な巡行は圧巻です。
Akasaka Hikawa Festival:
Akasaka Hikawa Shrine, one of the Ten Tokyo Shrines (established in 1975 as the ten most prestigious shrines within Tokyo’s 23 wards), celebrates three days of festivals. In addition to the annual annual festival, the annual grand festival, the festival is celebrated over three days. Its signature float parade through the streets of Akasaka, Tokyo, attracts large crowds every year. Akasaka Hikawa Shrine’s annual festival, which has been held for 1,050 years, does not feature portable shrines or floats; instead, a solemn ritual is held within the shrine grounds. Then, during the “Shinkosai,” generally recognized as “festival day,” a portable shrine destroyed during wartime and a precious float miraculously remaining from the Edo period some 400 years ago are paraded together in various processions for the first time in 100 years. The grand procession and numerous street stalls along the road create a lively atmosphere for the large numbers of residents and tourists. In addition, the “Yoimiya Junko” parades floats and portable shrines through the streets of Akasaka at night. The climax of the festival is the “Shinkosai” festival. Two Hikawa floats and 16 neighborhood portable shrines line up in a line, and the whole town is filled with excitement and shouts. The spectacular parade that stretches from Akasaka Street to Nogizaka and all the way to Tokyo Midtown is a sight to behold.
