ALOHA! It’s Sakurai here! ♪ This time on my trip to Kusatsu Onsen, I’ll be introducing six recommended gourmet spots around the Yubatake area for a stroll. I’ll be introducing them while taking a look at this food map . Please read to the end! ♪ Last time, I introduced a room tour of the hotel “TOU” in Ura-Kusatsu, where I stayed . There’s a link in the description, so please check that out too! ♪ Now, let’s get started! The first shop is “Yamabiko Onsen Manju”! Here you can enjoy deep-fried manju and deep-fried sweet potato. This time, I had deep-fried manju and deep-fried mochi! You can add mayonnaise, soy sauce, and shichimi pepper to the deep-fried mochi yourself. I recommend adding all of them! The deep-fried manju is a deep-fried brown sugar hot spring manju. The chewy texture and warm red bean paste are a perfect match. The deep-fried mochi has a crispy texture, and the mayonnaise and shichimi pepper add a nice accent , making it so delicious you’ll eat it all in one go. Next up is the second shop, “Yoritomo”! Going further into the souvenir shop, you’ll find a selection of items like onsen eggs and steamed konjac. First, we try the onsen eggs at the counter. I always fail to crack the eggs, but when I pour the broth over them and put the spoon in, they melt perfectly! Absolutely delicious! Next up is the steamed konjac, which is flavored with a special miso sauce. It’s cutely shaped and a convenient size to eat. Our third stop is Honke Chichiya Yubatake! Speaking of hot springs, freshly steamed onsen buns are a must! The souvenir brown sugar onsen buns also have a rich, delicious crust! The freshly steamed buns you can buy in stores are filled with two-colored bean paste, so be sure to eat them piping hot! They’re filled with chestnut bean paste and smooth bean paste , so be careful not to get burned . If you get full while eating , why not take a break in the plaza or climb the stairs to Kosenji Temple to pray? There’s also a five-story pagoda at the top of the hill! Passing “Netsu-no-yu,” where you can watch the Yumomi show, and continuing along Nishinokawara Street, you’ll come across the fourth shop, “Kasho Kasha.” This shop, which just opened this year, offers konjac sweets made with carefully selected natural ingredients and local fruits . You can enjoy them in the shop, take them out, or buy them as souvenirs . This time, I ate inside the shop.
I ordered the Cream Shiratama Konjac Anmitsu and the Konjac Bubble Soda with Yuzu Mitsu. It’s
a colorful, super cute, and fun soda with smooth konjac! After refreshing myself with the konjac soda, I continued along Nishinokawara Street and came across the fifth shop, “Mochiyaki Senbei.” This is a shop in front of Terakoya Honpo, a rice cracker shop where you can buy skewered wet rice crackers and nori rice crackers with the Kusatsu Onsen logo . I asked for permission to take a photo of them being made. The rice crackers are gradually decorated. So, what did I order?! Can you guess yet?! I ordered the skewered rice crackers with adzuki bean cheese and mentaiko mayonnaise! The slightly sweet adzuki beans, cheese, and the moderate saltiness of the rice crackers were a perfect match! The sixth and final restaurant is right next to the Yubatake Falls ! It’s “Sumibi-yaki Yakitori Shizu”! There was a line, but I waited and bought some negima! The meat was tender and juicy, and the onions were perfectly cooked – it was delicious!! If you can find a time when it’s not busy, be sure to give it a try! There are plenty of benches around the Yubatake area, a nearby plaza, and a hot spring hand bath where you can easily wash your hands, so you can enjoy a quick and comfortable snack walk.♪ If you visit Kusatsu Onsen , be sure to try a variety of snacks while you’re there .♪ In the next video, titled “Sightseeing in Kusatsu Onsen,” I’ll be taking you on a tour of Kusatsu Onsen, from the trip there on the Kusatsu-Shiman- go train to sightseeing, visiting hot springs, Gunma specialties, and relaxing cafes ! If you like the video, please give it a thumbs up and subscribe to the channel ♪ Well then, see you in the next video! MAHALO!
