On the first day of a three-day weekend, I went to Konmatei in Inabe City. From my house, I headed toward Inabe City on National Route 421 (Inabe Highway). From the intersection in front of the Lawson in Ishigure, Daian-cho, Inabe City, I continued toward Shiga Prefecture. From the intersection, I rounded a curve next to a cedar forest and found Konmatei. I arrived just as the shop opened at 10:00, but there were already many cars there. Patisserie Konmatei’s charming wooden building complements the surrounding forest. I’m envious of the people who can paint such signs. Inside the shop, the line goes counterclockwise. The atmosphere is lovely. In addition to baked goods, they also offer cream puffs and cakes. Cream puffs. The large one is “Inabe cabbage.” An explanation of Inabe cabbage explains that the cream is filled into the choux after an order is placed to maintain its crispness. The cakes looked delicious. The cafe is open on weekdays, so you can enjoy sweets there. We got “Inabe Cabbage”. 900 yen each. It stays crispy for up to 5 hours. They’re looking for part-time workers. (I’d love to try a part-time job like this someday lol) We ate it as soon as we got home. When we put the knife in it, it made a nice “crisp” sound. It was delicious. It was light, so we ate it all in one go. (For two people)
