【ホテル探訪】一棟貸切!! 北海道の雄大な絶景を独り占め 北欧スタイルのデザイン宿「MAOIQ」

Hello everyone, this is Okada from Architect Vacation! 🌞 I’ve come to Hokkaido, a place surrounded by magnificent nature. The landscape changes with the seasons, and the sky stretches out endlessly. This place shows a new face every time I visit. My destination this time is “Maoiq comfort,” a stylish, Scandinavian-style vacation house that blends seamlessly into the Hokkaido landscape. It’s a special place with panoramic views of the farmland and the quintessential Hokkaido scenery. Let’s take a look at what you can experience here. I quietly walked along a narrow, verdant path, like passing through a tunnel of trees. At the end of the path, I found myself at “Maoiq,” a private vacation house built on the concept of “going outside of the everyday.” Tucked away in the hills of Naganuma Town, Hokkaido, Maoiq is a vacation house with a concept of “going outside the everyday.” Located about 25 minutes by car from New Chitose Airport and about an hour from Sapporo, its convenient accessibility is also a major attraction. As I walked through a path surrounded by greenery, a building quietly tucked away in harmony with nature appeared. Its elegant form, based on a black color scheme, emerged. The simple, stripped-back design exudes a sense of nostalgia, yet also a mysterious sense of newness. The texture of the wood adds a touch of softness, blending seamlessly with the scenery outside. Its serene beauty blends seamlessly with nature. Let’s take a look inside. Opening the door, a spacious space unfolds before you, in stark contrast to the tranquility outside. Measuring approximately 100 square meters, the generous layout combines openness and serenity. The high ceilings make for a spacious living room, where natural light gently pours in through large windows. The spacious earthen floor space at the entrance is equipped with a wood-burning stove, perfect for relaxing and watching the flickering flames during chilly seasons . Stepping up from the earthen floor leads to the spacious living space. A large window in the corner of the room offers a magnificent view of Hokkaido. Simply relaxing on the sofa and admiring the view makes the visit worthwhile. The staircase is also subtly furnished. Featuring classic Scandinavian pieces, their presence adds depth to the space. Each piece on the shelves is accompanied by a detailed description, a thoughtful touch for interior design lovers. Moving on, we move to the back of the living room. A sliding door leads to the bedroom. The walls are clad in a deep green, creating a soft connection to the view outside. Further inside the bedroom, a spacious walk-in closet awaits, perfect for extended stays. Beyond that, we find the washbasin and bathroom. The sink is spacious, and skincare products are stocked by ICOR, a high-quality beauty brand from Niseko. Further back, a spacious shower area separated by glass is also available. A washing machine with a dryer is also provided, a welcome addition for extended stays. You can feel at home during your stay. Now, let’s take a look at the second floor. Facing the atrium at the top of the stairs, is the kitchen and dining space. A counter table is set up on the atrium side, allowing guests to enjoy their meal while admiring the outdoor view. For breakfast, bread from the nearby POTORI BAKERY is available. Made with organic ingredients from Hokkaido, this bread is said to be healthy and delicious. I’m looking forward to tomorrow morning. Herbal tea and carefully selected coffee beans from Koyamame Roastery, located not far from MAOIQ, are also available. Slowly savor your drink while admiring the magnificent view. Next, let’s take a look at the kitchen space. It’s equipped with a refrigerator and wine cellar, stocked with Hokkaido wines. The refrigerator is stocked with breakfast ingredients such as sausages, bacon, free-range fertilized eggs, and tomato juice. Let’s take a look at the kitchen facilities. A three-burner gas stove and oven are equipped, making it suitable for professional cooking. There’s also a dishwasher, making it convenient for use during your stay. In addition, a full set of cooking utensils, including pots, frying pans, and tableware, is provided, allowing you to enjoy a variety of dishes. A full range of condiments is provided, so you can bring your own ingredients and enjoy cooking with peace of mind. This wooden cupboard is carefully stocked with cutlery from the Portuguese brand Cutipol, and the sophisticated design is unified throughout. The storage below holds plates and bowls, such as “HASAMI PORCELAIN.” These simple and beautiful tableware further enhance mealtimes. Next, let’s take a look at other spaces on the second floor. Another bedroom is located in a glass-walled corner facing the atrium. With views of the outside through the windows, the space feels open and spacious. Simple yet comfortable, it’s perfect for relaxing in peace. Opening the door next to the kitchen reveals a spacious sink and bathroom. With plumbing on both the first and second floors, this home is convenient for two families or groups. The bathroom features LIXIL’s top-of-the-line system bath, “Spage.” The “shoulder bath,” where hot water flows down your shoulders, and the “silent jet,” where gentle bubbles create a soothing atmosphere, offer a luxuriously relaxing experience. So, I’ll wrap up the room tour here and relax, enjoying the magnificent scenery. Kermit chairs are placed on the terrace, allowing you to enjoy a moment of elegance while enjoying the view of the ranch spread out before you . Furthermore, a BBQ set is available upon request in the stone-floored space . Enjoying a meal surrounded by nature is a luxury you can only find here. As I lazed around, dusk approached. Tonight, I’ll buy ingredients at a nearby supermarket and enjoy cooking in my room’s kitchen, spending a relaxing evening. First, I’ll start by preparing Hokkaido vegetables. This is Hokkaido corn rice. The sweet aroma of the cooked rice whets my appetite. Perhaps lured by the delicious aroma, I spotted deer on the neighboring ranch. A colorful dinner featuring an abundance of Hokkaido ingredients is complete. Every dish looks delicious. Enjoying dinner while watching the majestic scenery take on new hues as the sun sets is truly a luxurious experience. We savored wine from a nearby winery. Stepping outside, we saw a beautiful sunset unfold across the sky. It was a special moment, one you can only experience here . We enjoyed a leisurely breakfast using the ingredients provided . This place, where you can truly feel at home , offers a truly relaxing experience. After dinner, we stepped out onto the terrace and spent time enjoying the greenery and breeze . Being able to feel the breath of nature so close is a unique quality of this place. Time spent doing nothing is truly a luxury. On another day, we ventured a little further afield. Approximately an hour and a half’s drive from the hotel, we visited the Water Church, designed by architect Tadao Ando. The Water Church is located on the grounds of Hoshino Resorts Tomamu in the central mountainous region of Hokkaido. It is open to the public for only one hour in the morning and one hour in the evening, making it a special piece of architecture that can only be experienced during these limited times. Once you walk along the concrete walls and stand at the entrance, the entire church and the tranquil water basin will come into view. Further inside the building from the back, a mystical space unfolds, where nature and architecture blend seamlessly. A cross appears to float on the water. From the altar, one can sense the greenery, water, light, and wind. This church was designed based on the idea that “sacred space is born only when human will cuts natural nature into pieces.” Although I was only able to stay for a short time, it was an invaluable architectural experience that cleansed my soul. So, what did you think of Maoiq Comfort? It was a special time, living as if at home , surrounded by Hokkaido’s majestic nature . While the building is simple, the materials and furnishings were carefully selected, creating a tranquil beauty in harmony with nature. The interior is designed to be comfortable, making it seem like you’d be able to spend an extended stay comfortably. The ability to simply do nothing is also a unique charm of this place.
